Thai Green Curry Monster
Review of Asda Good for you Green Thai Curry by
Sarcasm101
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...Thai green curry monster…that’s what I feel like recently, trying every variety of Thai green or otherwise curry. But by far, this has been my favourite and again it’s from ASDA!
I am something of a curry-a-holic, so after reading a review of someone’s Thai green curry, I just had to give it a go.
There were loads of different types and methods to choose from, kits, cooking sauces etc, but knowing myself to being a complete lazy git I decided to go for a microwave meal.
This is the one I found, ASDA Good for you Green Thai curry and rice. Good for me? It looked far too nice to be good for me! I must say though, that I didn’t just pick it because it was low in fat (that was just an added bonus). But it was the only microwavable Thai green curry that I could find…so me being a sceptic, I was already convinced that it would probably...

Yummy Thai Green Curry
Review of Tesco Thai Green Curry by
Moaty
Advantages: Really filling and full of flavour
Disadvantages: none
...If you are a lover of Thai food or even Chinese and curry I think you will love this product.
Years ago I couldn't eat anything that was remotely spicy but over the years I have been converted and love a variety of foods. Then my father visited Thailand for a holiday with my Mum and some friends. He came back raving about the food and we all found a restaurant and tried it along with them. I fell in love with the Thai Green Curry. It has so much flavour and leaves a lovely aftertaste in my mouth.
I did think though when going through the ready meals at my local Tesco's that there was no way they could make a ready meal as nice as the one we had in the restaurant.
HOW WRONG WAS I? Very! This is the best ready meal I have ever tasted and cooks in no time at all. The description on the box is as follows: Thai Green Chicken...

Thai It Tonight
Review of Sharwoods Thai Red Curry Paste by
tune57
Advantages: Very Tasty, Free From Artificial Flavours, Colours & Preservatives
Disadvantages: Not Suitable For Those With A Nut Allergy
...Prices of this product added 08/11/07,
Being a fan of all things spicy, I was delighted to receive a free sample of Sharwoods Thai Red Curry Paste with my monthly subscription of Fresh Magazine this month.
The sample contained 50g of Thai red curry paste, enough it said to make a curry for 2 to 3 people with the addition of a few simple ingredients.
Friday night in our house is usually "Curry Night", either homemade or from the local Indian takeaway. This week it was "Make It Ones Self"- I say that like that because it is usually me that does the making !!.
The pale green coloured cardboard sleeve that protected the clear plastic sachet of paste, boasts that this Thai Red Curry Paste is made using fresh ingredients such as lemongrass, garlic and chillies, typically Thai I thought.
Having a change from our usual Indian...

Curry for Lazy Cooks
Review of Thai Temple Curry by
ClaireG86
Advantages: Warming, Spicy, Tasty
Disadvantages: None, unless you don't like the texture of chick peas
...You can mainly find this Thai Temple curry in the organic section in some Tescos, and in health food shops but it can be hard to find and so it’s best to buy a few tins and stock up the cupboard if you try it and find you like it. The curry is manufactured by the Really Interesting Food Co who is based in Surrey and you can try and spot it by its bright orange and black label. They also stock another one called the Thai green curry, which I don’t think is as nice as this one. It costs £1.49 for a 400g tin, and this seems to be the standard price everywhere, if you purchase it on line at specialist health food stores such as www.goodnessdirect.co.uk (but they aren’t stocking this particular one right now, just others in the range). It’s also available from edirectory. I tried it first over a year ago, and I have it roughly once a month...

Thai cheap
Review of Noon Thai Green Curry and Jasmine Rice by
The-Operator
Advantages: Cheap and tasty
Disadvantages: It won't stay at 99p for ever
...I'm a terrible bargain whore. I can also be incredibly lazy. Combine the two when I'm shopping without a clue and very occasionally there ensues a chance serendipitous moment. Like today for instance in Morrisons.
I'd resigned myself to sausage and mash and indeed I'd already deposited the bangers in the basket. All the while though, the beady eye was instinctively scanning the shelves for the untried and untested with the little red and yellow decal with '99p' on. And there it was! Lurking in the ready meals (I know, but I'm temporarily a singleton step-dad until she gets out of hospital but that won't change even when she eventually gets out - different story covered elsewhere).Special purchase Thai Green Curry and Jasmine Rice - 99p! RRP £1.99! Deep joy! Chicken's in the basket!
Must admit though, I'm not a huge fan...

Thai your tastebuds down
Review of Tesco Temptations Thai Green Curry Flavour Crisps by
lazza123
Advantages: Too nice to stop!
Disadvantages: Too much fat, a bit too salty
...Always on the lookout for something different to try, I ended up in a Tesco store, and came across this. As I’m a bit of a “crisp” person, these were for me.
** What are they? **
These are Tesco’s own brand Thai green curry flavoured crisps. I really like Thai curry, so thought I would get these to try, I had really high expectations.
** What’s the bag like? **
These crisps come in a 150 g bag. The bag cost 95 pence from any Tesco store. On the front of the bag is a picture of the crisps in a bowl, the picture makes them look like small popadums. Also there are pictures of various spices, which looked really fresh, which made me want to try them.
The ingredients are potato, vegetable oil, Thai green curry flavour, which has 18 different ingredients! Mainly herbs and spices, coconut and monosodium glutamate...

Red Thai curry paste recipe
Review of Recipes for Home Made Curries by
jenmil
Advantages: Hot and easy to prepare
Disadvantages: non
...Curry, the South East Asia way
The curry from South East Asia is slightly different from the traditional Indian curry. Similar to Thai red curry, it uses mainly fresh ingredients and coconut milk.
The main ingredients used are turmeric, galangal, shallots, fresh chillies, candle nut and lemon grass.
Turmeric- part of the ginger family, turmeric is used to produce the vibrant yellow spice in curries.
Galangal -It is a rhizome with culinary and medicinal uses. It is part of the ginger family and it tastes little like ginger, though it has a stronger taste. In its raw form, galangal has a soapy, earthy aroma and a pine-like flavor with a faint hint of citrus.
Shallots - Shallots are like onions but it has a milder flavour. It can be used in the same manner as onions.
Candle nut -The candle nut is similar in flavor and texture...

Top Thai cuisine in downtown Vancouver
Review of Sala Thai, Vancouver by
larsbaby
Advantages: Excellent food, excellent service, excellent prices
Disadvantages: It's a ten hour flight away
...
The menu is split into several sections. Appetisers include deep fried vegetarian spring rolls, pork & shrimp wanton, tofu with vegetables, deep fried fish cake and golden shrimp cake.
Soups and salads have old favourites like Tom Yum (hot and spicy soup), Thai salad and a house salad.
Currys include red and green currys, Panang curry (thick red curry) and my personal favourite, Massamun curry (massamun curry paste in coconut milk with meat and potatoes).
The large list of lunch specials, available from 11:30am - 3pm, include Thai red and green curry, chicken with cashew nuts, eggplant delight (aubergine with garlic, pepper, sauce and choice of meat), drunken seafood (mixes seafood with Thai chilli, onion, peppers and sweet basil leaves) and pad thai (noodles with shrimps, beansprouts and egg).
Meat dishes include garlic beef...

Maybe the best Thai food comes from Malaysians
Review of Thai Garden Restaurant, Rothwell, Northants by
koshkha
Advantages: Fantastic food in a pretty little town
Disadvantages: Service can be a bit too quick and it's a bit on the dear side
....
* A single portion of Tod Mon Pla (Thai Fish Cakes) to share
And for the main course:
* Thai chicken curry for hubby
* Prawns with cashews and dried chillis for me
* Bean curd with Chilli and Thai sweet basil - to share
* Boiled rice.
You'll have noticed that all our choices were Thai - but there are plenty of Chinese or Malaysian options if you prefer. They have the usual classics like crispy duck with pancakes, as well as dishes like Szechuan and Cantonese (Chinese), Satay and Gado Gado (Indonesian), Singapore noodles (Singapore) and Rendang (Malaysian). I can't comment on those because I love Thai too much to dilute my choice with anything else.
The Service
**********
** Giving your order - they pounce on you quite quickly - if you need longer, tell them. I've had experience in the past of being with people who didn't know what...

Thai food in Edinburgh
Review of Thai Orchid Edinburgh by
sunmeilan
Advantages: Excellent food and service
Disadvantages: Need to book
...of the shop is mainly glass, but as you go in through the door, you are faced with a board against which a Buddhist statue is placed - it sounds simple, and it is, but it really is very effective. I also liked the lighting, which consists of wooden frames on which the electric equivalent of tealights are placed. The tables are very well spaced out, which I liked because the restaurant was quite full and I really didn't want to overhear other people's conversations.
The food
I was so impressed with the food the first time we went there, that we went again a couple of nights later. The menu wasn't particularly different from most Thai restaurants, but there was a wide selection of dishes, including curries, stir fries, noodles and seafood dishes. There was also the choice of two banquets for just over £20 for a minimum of two people. Vegetarians...
