Thai Green Curry Monster
Review of Asda Good for you Green Thai Curry by
Sarcasm101
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...Thai green curry monster…that’s what I feel like recently, trying every variety of Thai green or otherwise curry. But by far, this has been my favourite and again it’s from ASDA!
I am something of a curry-a-holic, so after reading a review of someone’s Thai green curry, I just had to give it a go.
There were loads of different types and methods to choose from, kits, cooking sauces etc, but knowing myself to being a complete lazy git I decided to go for a microwave meal.
This is the one I found, ASDA Good for you Green Thai curry and rice. Good for me? It looked far too nice to be good for me! I must say though, that I didn’t just pick it because it was low in fat (that was just an added bonus). But it was the only microwavable Thai green curry that I could find…so me being a sceptic, I was already convinced that it would probably...

Loyd Grossman's Madras Curry Sauce is a hit
Review of Lloyd Grossman's Madras Curry Sauce by
Spottydog11
Advantages: Taste, style, convenience
Disadvantages: Hot!
...I was a bit speptical when I heard the Loyd "throught the key hole" Grossman was now producing sauces for pasta, curry's etc but my husband suggested we give them a try as we were getting tired of the Dolmio type sauces on offer that we always try.
We went for the Loyd Grossman Madras as my husband likes spcicy curry sauces but he did have a wide range available, such a Rogan Josh, Bhuna, Thai Chilli, Balti, Korma etc. The packaging was quite intriguing too, it looked more classy than some of the other sauces on offer such as the Dolmio as mentioned before. I guess it was a little expensive at £1.99 a jar but if you compare this to £5+ for an actual curry then it is a bargain.
When my husband said he liked hot currys boy was he right, this was a very hot curry sauce, you definitely did need a lot of fluid to help you get through...

Thai sweet chilli sauce
Review of Uncle Bens THai Sweet Chilli Sauce by
yackers1
Advantages: Easy oriental cooking
Disadvantages: Too much like Kung Po?
...I still cannot really tell the difference between thai food and chinese. I have been told that different spices are used in thai cooking - but I 'm afraid that I can't really distinguish between the two. I guess my palate is not cultured enough! Perhaps there is a Ciao member out there that can help - and write a review on the difference between thai and chinese.
I have developed a passion for world cuisine and on every shopping trip I make an effort to find different sauces. I recently stumbled across thai sweet chilli. Upon reading the pre-amble on the jar - and the ingredients I noted that it was just like Kung Po sauce. With the love affair I have with Kung Po I had to give this a go......................
The brand I picked was Uncle Bens. The only reason for this was that it is a reliable and well known brand - and I have yet...

Thai It Tonight
Review of Sharwoods Thai Red Curry Paste by
tune57
Advantages: Very Tasty, Free From Artificial Flavours, Colours & Preservatives
Disadvantages: Not Suitable For Those With A Nut Allergy
...Prices of this product added 08/11/07,
Being a fan of all things spicy, I was delighted to receive a free sample of Sharwoods Thai Red Curry Paste with my monthly subscription of Fresh Magazine this month.
The sample contained 50g of Thai red curry paste, enough it said to make a curry for 2 to 3 people with the addition of a few simple ingredients.
Friday night in our house is usually "Curry Night", either homemade or from the local Indian takeaway. This week it was "Make It Ones Self"- I say that like that because it is usually me that does the making !!.
The pale green coloured cardboard sleeve that protected the clear plastic sachet of paste, boasts that this Thai Red Curry Paste is made using fresh ingredients such as lemongrass, garlic and chillies, typically Thai I thought.
Having a change from our usual Indian...

Curry for Lazy Cooks
Review of Thai Temple Curry by
ClaireG86
Advantages: Warming, Spicy, Tasty
Disadvantages: None, unless you don't like the texture of chick peas
...like to have it if I am feeling run down with a cold or flu perhaps, and it is much much nicer than the evil chicken soup cure. The sauce itself is probably a bit less strong than an Indian madras sauce, and slightly more brown, but still tomatoey and there is a very gently taste of coriander like in most Thai food but it is not so much that it is overpowering.
You can serve it with rice or noodles, and if you serve it with rice, the 400g tin will be enough for two dinners. I prefer to eat it on its own, and I eat the whole tin. This way it is much easier to prepare because you don’t have to bother to cook the rice, and I enjoy the taste of this curry so much. This way I serve a tin of the curry in a normal soup bowl. You can still feel it warming you inside gently a while after you have eaten it, and it’s definitely a food to lift you...

Thai cheap
Review of Noon Thai Green Curry and Jasmine Rice by
The-Operator
Advantages: Cheap and tasty
Disadvantages: It won't stay at 99p for ever
...I'm a terrible bargain whore. I can also be incredibly lazy. Combine the two when I'm shopping without a clue and very occasionally there ensues a chance serendipitous moment. Like today for instance in Morrisons.
I'd resigned myself to sausage and mash and indeed I'd already deposited the bangers in the basket. All the while though, the beady eye was instinctively scanning the shelves for the untried and untested with the little red and yellow decal with '99p' on. And there it was! Lurking in the ready meals (I know, but I'm temporarily a singleton step-dad until she gets out of hospital but that won't change even when she eventually gets out - different story covered elsewhere).Special purchase Thai Green Curry and Jasmine Rice - 99p! RRP £1.99! Deep joy! Chicken's in the basket!
Must admit though, I'm not a huge fan...

Fiery Thai Green Curry
Review of Recipes for Sauces by
ashford
Advantages: Fiery Not Difficult to Prepare
Disadvantages: May be too hot for some
...Thai cuisine has gained tremendous popularity in the West in recent years and an ever increasing number of restaurants specialising in this fascinating and very spicy cuisine have opened-up in major cities and towns in the UK. Most well-known Thai eateries will have Green Curry on their menu, which I suppose can be considered a sauce.
This recipe is for this popular dish, using lean beef, although you could substitute chicken or lean lamb for the beef if you so desire. The ingredients for this dish should be available at the Oriental style supermarkets and grocers which are now to be found in most of Britain’s major cities. Try it out and whilst it is spicy it is very tasty and not too pyrotechnic. Prepare this dish and surprise your spouse for its not every day, I am sure, that he or she tucks into an exotic dish from...

Top Thai cuisine in downtown Vancouver
Review of Sala Thai, Vancouver by
larsbaby
Advantages: Excellent food, excellent service, excellent prices
Disadvantages: It's a ten hour flight away
...
The menu is split into several sections. Appetisers include deep fried vegetarian spring rolls, pork & shrimp wanton, tofu with vegetables, deep fried fish cake and golden shrimp cake.
Soups and salads have old favourites like Tom Yum (hot and spicy soup), Thai salad and a house salad.
Currys include red and green currys, Panang curry (thick red curry) and my personal favourite, Massamun curry (massamun curry paste in coconut milk with meat and potatoes).
The large list of lunch specials, available from 11:30am - 3pm, include Thai red and green curry, chicken with cashew nuts, eggplant delight (aubergine with garlic, pepper, sauce and choice of meat), drunken seafood (mixes seafood with Thai chilli, onion, peppers and sweet basil leaves) and pad thai (noodles with shrimps, beansprouts and egg).
Meat dishes include garlic beef...

Red Thai curry paste recipe
Review of Recipes for Home Made Curries by
jenmil
Advantages: Hot and easy to prepare
Disadvantages: non
...Curry, the South East Asia way
The curry from South East Asia is slightly different from the traditional Indian curry. Similar to Thai red curry, it uses mainly fresh ingredients and coconut milk.
The main ingredients used are turmeric, galangal, shallots, fresh chillies, candle nut and lemon grass.
Turmeric- part of the ginger family, turmeric is used to produce the vibrant yellow spice in curries.
Galangal -It is a rhizome with culinary and medicinal uses. It is part of the ginger family and it tastes little like ginger, though it has a stronger taste. In its raw form, galangal has a soapy, earthy aroma and a pine-like flavor with a faint hint of citrus.
Shallots - Shallots are like onions but it has a milder flavour. It can be used in the same manner as onions.
Candle nut -The candle nut is similar in flavor and texture...
