Thai Green Curry Monster
Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: None that I can think of
...Thai green curry monster?that?s what I feel like recently, trying every variety of Thai green or otherwise curry. But by far, this has been my favourite and again it?s from ASDA!
I am something of a curry-a-holic, so after reading a review of someone?s Thai green curry, I just had to give it a go.
There were loads of different types and methods to choose from, kits, cooking sauces etc, but knowing myself to being a complete lazy git I decided to go for a microwave meal.
This is the one I found, ASDA Good for you Green Thai curry and rice. Good for me? It looked far too nice to be good for me! I must say though, that I didn?t just pick it because it was low in fat (that was just an added bonus). But it was the only microwavable Thai green curry that I could find?so me being a sceptic, I was already convinced that it would probably...

Yummy Thai Green Curry
Advantages: Really filling and full of flavour
Disadvantages: none
...If you are a lover of Thai food or even Chinese and curry I think you will love this product.
Years ago I couldn't eat anything that was remotely spicy but over the years I have been converted and love a variety of foods. Then my father visited Thailand for a holiday with my Mum and some friends. He came back raving about the food and we all found a restaurant and tried it along with them. I fell in love with the Thai Green Curry. It has so much flavour and leaves a lovely aftertaste in my mouth.
I did think though when going through the ready meals at my local Tesco's that there was no way they could make a ready meal as nice as the one we had in the restaurant.
HOW WRONG WAS I? Very! This is the best ready meal I have ever tasted and cooks in no time at all. The description on the box is as follows: Thai Green Chicken...

Thai cheap
Advantages: Cheap and tasty
Disadvantages: It won't stay at 99p for ever
...I'm a terrible bargain whore. I can also be incredibly lazy. Combine the two when I'm shopping without a clue and very occasionally there ensues a chance serendipitous moment. Like today for instance in Morrisons.
I'd resigned myself to sausage and mash and indeed I'd already deposited the bangers in the basket. All the while though, the beady eye was instinctively scanning the shelves for the untried and untested with the little red and yellow decal with '99p' on. And there it was! Lurking in the ready meals (I know, but I'm temporarily a singleton step-dad until she gets out of hospital but that won't change even when she eventually gets out - different story covered elsewhere).Special purchase Thai Green Curry and Jasmine Rice - 99p! RRP £1.99! Deep joy! Chicken's in the basket!
Must admit though, I'm not a huge fan...

Going green
Advantages: Different to other curries.
Disadvantages: Tastes horrid!
...We like a nice simple curry every so often but have got rather bored of the usual sauces you can buy and so when we last visited Asda we went for this small jar of Thai Green Curry Sauce. At just 97p it was a bargain you must agree!
I have never had Thai Green Curry unless it is from a ready meal not that I eat them very often. I have always enjoyed the taste of the ready meals so thought this could only be better but it wasn't!
It is described as A green Thai curry sauce flavoured with coconut, coriander, lemongrass and lime leaves. And comes in a 315g jar which is ideal for two people rather than the ridiculously large jars where we waste some of it.
This had a strange powdery texture and the taste was over powered by lemongrass it really wasn't nice at all. It was slightly hotter than I was expecting also but not so much that...

Thai your tastebuds down
Advantages: Too nice to stop!
Disadvantages: Too much fat, a bit too salty
...Always on the lookout for something different to try, I ended up in a Tesco store, and came across this. As I?m a bit of a ?crisp? person, these were for me.
** What are they? **
These are Tesco?s own brand Thai green curry flavoured crisps. I really like Thai curry, so thought I would get these to try, I had really high expectations.
** What?s the bag like? **
These crisps come in a 150 g bag. The bag cost 95 pence from any Tesco store. On the front of the bag is a picture of the crisps in a bowl, the picture makes them look like small popadums. Also there are pictures of various spices, which looked really fresh, which made me want to try them.
The ingredients are potato, vegetable oil, Thai green curry flavour, which has 18 different ingredients! Mainly herbs and spices, coconut and monosodium glutamate...

This earns me Brownie Points!!
Advantages: Tasty, very easy to make!
Disadvantages: Not quite spicy enough
... ASDA THAI GREEN CURRY SAUCE
My wife is a big lover of Thai Green Curry, when I'm feeling 'flush' I do take her out to our local Thai restaurant ( so not that often then!!)
We love all curries and normally I make mine from scratch, but with the Thai curries it tends to would cost a lot to make from scratch and is a bi complicated for an oldie like me, but this sauce is just £1 for a 315g jar.
I use prawns, fish or chicken with this sauce which is a mix of coconut, coriander, lemon grass and lime leaves, I think they go better than red meats.
One negative I have is that on the front of the sauce mix, it says this is of medium heat, its not, and as far as I was thought it was very mild, but was still scrummy and you can add spices.
Its extremelly simple to make, basically cook your chicken or fish in a shallow pan...

Curry for Lazy Cooks
Advantages: Warming, Spicy, Tasty
Disadvantages: None, unless you don't like the texture of chick peas
...You can mainly find this Thai Temple curry in the organic section in some Tescos, and in health food shops but it can be hard to find and so it?s best to buy a few tins and stock up the cupboard if you try it and find you like it. The curry is manufactured by the Really Interesting Food Co who is based in Surrey and you can try and spot it by its bright orange and black label. They also stock another one called the Thai green curry, which I don?t think is as nice as this one. It costs £1.49 for a 400g tin, and this seems to be the standard price everywhere, if you purchase it on line at specialist health food stores such as www.goodnessdirect.co.uk (but they aren?t stocking this particular one right now, just others in the range). It?s also available from edirectory. I tried it first over a year ago, and I have it roughly once a month...

Fiery Thai Green Curry
Advantages: Fiery Not Difficult to Prepare
Disadvantages: May be too hot for some
...Thai cuisine has gained tremendous popularity in the West in recent years and an ever increasing number of restaurants specialising in this fascinating and very spicy cuisine have opened-up in major cities and towns in the UK. Most well-known Thai eateries will have Green Curry on their menu,which I suppose can be considered a sauce.
This recipe is for this popular dish, using lean beef, although you could substitute chicken or lean lamb for the beef if you so desire. The ingredients for this dish should be available at the Oriental style supermarkets and grocers which are now to be found in most of Britain’s major cities. Try it out and whilst it is spicy it is very tasty and not too pyrotechnic. Prepare this dish and surprise your spouse for its not every day, I am sure, that he or she tucks into an exotic dish from...

~~~~~~Thai It Tonight~~~~~~
Advantages: Very Tasty, Free From Artificial Flavours, Colours & Preservatives
Disadvantages: Not Suitable For Those With A Nut Allergy
...Prices of this product added 08/11/07,
Being a fan of all things spicy, I was delighted to receive a free sample of Sharwoods Thai Red Curry Paste with my monthly subscription of Fresh Magazine this month.
The sample contained 50g of Thai red curry paste, enough it said to make a curry for 2 to 3 people with the addition of a few simple ingredients.
Friday night in our house is usually "Curry Night", either homemade or from the local Indian takeaway. This week it was "Make It Ones Self"- I say that like that because it is usually me that does the making !!.
The pale green coloured cardboard sleeve that protected the clear plastic sachet of paste, boasts that this Thai Red Curry Paste is made using fresh ingredients such as lemongrass, garlic and chillies, typically Thai I thought.
Having a change from our usual Indian...
Thai Curry
Advantages: Wonderful flavours
Disadvantages: Not to everyone's taste
...There is one essential piece of cook ware that I really could not be without, it's my slow cooker. This is great for one pot cooking and the meat/chicken comes out just melting in the mouth.
This is my favourite receipt for my slow cooker. Its a curry, but a curry with a difference, a Thai curry and it tastes absolutely wonderful, really great flavours and it does not burn your mouth out.
You need:
1lb braising steak,
2 medium onions
4 medium potatoes - I use the small waxy type as these seem to work the best.
14 oz tin of coconut milk
3 tbls Mussaman curry paste - this can be bought in most supermarkets.
4 tbls Palm sugar or soft brown sugar
4 tbls Fish sauce - again most supermarkets carry this product.
2 tbls lemon juice
3 tbls roasted peanuts
7 fl oz water.
1 bay leaf
If you can get a slow cooker...
