...Recently Mr Tart and myself headed to Cardiff to see Michael McIntyre in the International Arena. We had planned to use one of Martin Moneysavingexpert?s to for one deals at a restaurant before the show but due to traffic and parking issues we got there late. Cardiff has changed a lot recently and despite being a former local I couldn?t work out how to get to the restaurants that we wanted as they had planted a massive multi-story where the road used to be. We didn?t have enough time to find another route to it so we headed for the nearest restaurant that could seat us and this happened to be the Thai House. Excellent vegetarian Thai but avoid the mixed starters

Advantages: Good main courses, not too expensive

...I am a creature of habit and one of those habits says that whenever there's an opportunity for a celebration, it's an excuse for Thai food. My birthday this year was a bit of a sad occasion because my much-loved and very elderly cat had been put to sleep the night before and I wasn't really in the mood for a lot of fuss. The journey to Thai 1

Advantages: Good food and pleasant atmosphere
Disadvantages: They wanted us to move around to suit them!

...I love eating out in a range of different places and particularly enjoy going sample different cuisines. There are a few Thai restaurants in Ipswich but my favourite has to be Thai 1 on Upper Orwell Street. This is a town centre restaurant so the setting isn't attractive but car parking is not too bad as there are some spaces on the road outside or a public car park nearby. On my most recent visit I was one of a party of nine people and we were warmly welcomed on arrival and invited to order pre-dinner drinks. The restaurant is actually a converted retail unit so has a normal shop front on to the road and the dining area extends through behind that. This means that the dining area has no windows but the decor is bright and there is a window through to the kitchen area where you can see the staff beavering away preparing meals...

Advantages: Fantastic food in a pretty little town

Thai Siam - "Siam the One and Only!"

Advantages: Tasty, fresh tasting food. Superb service.
Disadvantages: Slightly out of the city centre

...Thai Siam was our choice of eatery recently after an early evening excursion to the theatre. It was a wet, miserable evening but the welcome was warm and the atmosphere cosy. Situated in the West End of Glasgow at 1191 Argyle Street, Thai Siam is unimpressive from the outside, just another building in a row of shops with a neon sign. However the interior is modern and tastefully decorated. The restaurant seats approximately 60 on decent sized tables. There is the obligatory fish tank, a small bar area and the walls are sparsely decorated with large prints and three-dimensional textured pictures of Buddha. The Thai Garden, is no garden!

Advantages: great noodles!
Disadvantages: rubbish food

...and didn't taste much better, plus all the food appeared far too quickly for it to be cooked fresh to order, which is always a sight worry. Outside the restaurant they have a glass case containing a news paper article complete with photo, I must admit I didn't read it! I didn't need too as the colour and age of the paper spoke volumes. You may ask 'So why did we go in?' and you have a good point! Well we love food and fancied Thai so why not give it a go, is the simple answer. Anyway, we both left the restaurant still hungry and wanting more noodles! Mad as it sounds I would go back just for the noodles but I would have them as a takeaway so we could add them to our lovely home cooked Thai food. So next time the cooker breaks down or we fancy being cooked for I think we'll try 'The old Bakehouse' restaurant in Rothwell as the surroundings...
