...BACKGROUND: Girls are a precarious lot. One day you are friends, the next you're not. One minute you love each other, the next you don't. Whilst boys solve their problems with a quick burst of violence followed by a handshake, with girls, everything is done covertly and in such a way that even the meanest girl can appear sweeter than sugar and genial in the eyes of all but her terrorised victim. ...Ok. What’s the deal with this? Two magazines are released on similar days both ending with girl. I’m talking about Elle Girl and Cosmo Girl. Both offspring’s of older fashionable magazines. If you don’t know what they are, they’re Elle and Cosmopolitan. Anyway I bought Cosmo girl a few days after purchasing Elle Girl. I had a good read of it and thought well these magazines are oddly similar but different in some ways. I’m sure they same company makes both magazines. There is one difference between the two though. Cosmo Girl is a monthly whilst Elle Girl is seasonal thing. THE COVER~~ The cover has a picture of Hear’say star Suzanne Shaw, Atomic Kitten’s Natasha Hamilton and Irish star Samantha Mumba. ...Scouting for Girls is the superb debut album from the London threesome Scouting For Girls. Consisting of a just a piano, bass guitar and drummer this up and coming ban have a massive future. In my review I'll be telling you what i think about all the tracks, the value for money and the cd case. The Tracks 1) Keep On Walking - A great opening to a brilliant album. The song is about a man grieving after his wife left him. He waits up each night "listening for the sound her car" and vows to "keep on walking 'till the sun comes up" in order to find his wife. The piano work is brilliant and the vocals work a treat with the high pitched backing vocals, that are evident throughout the album. Track Duration is 3.37. ...Believe it or not, this is the girls 4th studio album, and their 5th album overall. Despite being a huge Girls Aloud fan, I have never actually bought an album by the girls before, I only purchased their Greatest Hits last winter as I love the singles which were obviously on it. But after reading such positive reviews about this across the internet, and having a spare Amazon voucher, I thought this would be worth a try. And what a corker the girls have come out with here! Tangled Up is a different turn for the girls, with an album full of dancefloor filler tracks that are so catchy you will quickly find yourself singing along! The album is 12 tracks long and each one is just superb. On this album you get the 2 singles the girls have released so far, and another 10 great tracks of which 80% deserve to be released as singles themselves... Read review

...Five years after the television show that brought them to fame and who would have thought they would still be together today? Not only this but they are one of the most successful pop groups in the UK. Girls Aloud, who consist of Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh, Sarah Harding, Cheryl Cole (nee Tweedy) and Nicola Roberts were formed in 2002 on the ITV reality show 'Popstars: The Rivals'. The format was similar to 'Popstars', the show that created Hear'Say, however this time they were looking for two bands...a girl band and a boy band. Both groups would release a single and whichever group did the best in the charts would win. The girls won and the boy band that were created, One True Voice, split up after just a few months. I have to admit that I'm not a really big fan of Girls Aloud, I don't own any of their previous albums... Read review

...It has been some time since I saw this film, so I apologize that I can't remember all the details. This movie stars Brenda Blethyn (who was nominated for an Oscar for her performance in "Secrets & Lies") and Julie Walters (star of the film "Educating Rita") as two close friends who work together in a factory. The shy Blethyn has one dream - to go to Las Vegas. But her salary doesn't allow this so instead, on Girls' Night, she leaves her abusive husband to play Bingo with the girls from the factory in hopes that one day she'll win the big prize and fulfill her dream. Walters, predictably, plays a bold divorsee who is mostly preoccupied with sex but always seems to have time to get into trouble - either with men or at work or both! This sounds like a perfect setup for a fun comedy - and it is. Walters' rough, tough style... Read review

...Today, I though I'd buy a magazine. I rarely do this but, hey...I felt like it...as you do! So, in a mad dash on my way back to college, I leapt into the newsagents. Hmmm...the choice was a bit sparse. There was stuff like 'B' and 'Company'...nah, didn't fancy them. There was 'More'...bit tacky... and things like 'Elle' and 'Vogue' - can't stand the adverts...so that left me with...'Cosmo Girl' or 'Elle Girl'. I'd never heard of 'Elle Girl' or 'Cosmo Girl' before. As I said, I'm not a huge magazine reader and don't really know what's availible. I thought I'd give one of these baby sister's a go. 'Cosmo Girl' had Pop Idol's Will Young on the front and was a little bit cheaper but I went with 'Elle Girl' because there was a lil' pink bag in it (who knows why this swayed me...it's not like I'll ever use the bag!
