Victoria Park Plaza Hotel, London It's More Than A Hotel!

Advantages: Pleasant Staff, Good Customer Service, Nice Breakfast
Disadvantages: Expensive

...The Victoria Park Plaza in London is an amazing hotel that has very comfortable, quality rooms and staff who are friendly and professional. The best thing about The Victoria Park Plaza is that it is in a prime position just two minutes from Victoria Station and an easy walk to some of London's main attractions. I found it perfect for shopping and buying souvenirs. There were also quite a number of restaurants close by and my mum who cannot walk far didn't complain once. Although we ate at the hotel we also sampled London's China Town. It is a four star hotel and lives up to the standard. It is situated close to Buckingham Palace, Harrods, Westminster Abbey and Houses of Parliament. The hotel does not allow smoking anywhere near the building which my mum and I really appreciated because we are both none smokers. The smoking ban made...

The London Hilton on Park Lane - It's the Daddy!

Advantages: True five-star oasis of calm and comfort with a few tricks up its sleeve.
Disadvantages: It would be somewhat churlish to nit-pick. Read the review!

...I have just returned, very happy, from the Hilton. I have often returned, happy, from a Hilton, but this has always been - and will always be - THE Hilton. The London Hilton on Park Lane has, always been "The Hilton" and this 28-storey icon is a London landmark that I have wanted to stay in for nigh on 30 years. This weekend, the dream came true. Nor was the bubble burst. Booking I booked on-line through the Hilton website and was offered a rate of just under UKP 128, plus taxes. The room-only room rate of UKP 150 (about $300) was something of a snip and it would have been rude not to accept it; it was about half of what you'd normally expect to fork out for a room in this hotel, which holds some quite extraordinary accolades, including "Best Business Hotel in Europe 2005" and "Daily Telegraph Best British Hotel 2002". I had...

Thistle Hyde Park, London

Advantages: Outstanding Views, best hotel in London i've stayed at
Disadvantages: couldn't fault it

...I stayed at this Hotel last year, and have been to London 4 times since. Ive stayed in over 10 hotels in the capital and can honestly say this has been my favourite hotel. The views over Hyde Park were gorgeous and gave a lovely view of the london eye, and the flight path. The rooms were a good size and layed out well. It wasn't unclean at all. The staff were extremely helpful and went out their way to help you. The breakfast was gorgeous and provided a great choice. The hotel was close to the local tube station, and close to notting hill and shops. It was central to oxford street and all that London has to offer, without been slap bang in the middle. Only downfall i suppose ( the only one) was that it was upstairs to a petrol station yet it wasnt a problem for me. I would recommend this hotel 100% and enjoyed my stay....

Great Park in Greenwich

Advantages: You can visit the Royal Observatory as well
Disadvantages: none

...I used to live in Island gardens (Docklands area) and Greenwich Park was just 10 minutes away. In the sunny summer days, we used to go to the park for lazy Sundays. We used to bring a beach mat and a blanket to lay them on the grass. It is useful to bring the blanket in case of sudden change of weather, which happen quite often in London. Greenwich Park is the oldest Royal Park and has 183 acres of land. The park is part of the Greenwich World Heritage site. The Royal Observatory, Astronomy Centre & Planetarium and National Maritime Museum are within the park. It is the only hilly park in London which overlooks the Thames. You can climb up the hill and take a picture of the breathtaking view of the Thames and Canary Wharf financial sky scrappers. Getting there There are several different ways to get to the park. Dockland Light...

The 'Plain Jane' of London parks

Advantages: A very peaceful enclave in the nightmare that is London
Disadvantages: You'll need to like grass. A lot.

...of central London's least crowded parks and so is a good choice if you are looking for some peace and quiet - a perfect place to come to spend your lunch hour if you work anywhere nearby, and as I work in Victoria I'm just one tube stop away. Which is nice. Legend has it that the park is built on the site of the burial ground for lepers from St James's hospital, which is why no flowers grow here, but that seems like a load of cobblers to me. But do I have a better explanation? No. What is known is that the area was first set aside as parkland under the reign of Henry VIII (1509-47), and became a royal park under Charles II (1660-85). In the 18th century, ballooning, firework displays and duels often took place in Green Park. And in 1748 Handel wrote his Music for the Royal Fireworks for a firework display that took place here to celebrate...

A breath of fresh air in south London

Advantages: One of the nicest and most varied in the locality, a nice cafe,
Disadvantages: open to the adjoining golf course in parts (for dog walkers)

...I?ve found that owning a dog needing lots of exercise like my Labrador and having an appetite that could embarrass Homer Simpson is a match made in heaven sometimes. Some of my favourite little cafes and pubs have been found whilst out walking our dog. I have a keen eye for books which describe good walks (not necessarily dog focussed) which feature a pub stop half way around, or a nice café somewhere nearby. That was how I first heard about High Elms Country Park. Not too far from home, but I probably wouldn?t bother travelling there if it weren?t for the opportunity to take my dog somewhere different every so often. Situated in the London Borough of Bromley and by the North Downs, it was originally the country seat of the Lubbock family. It?s now owned by Bromley Council, although it receives some assistance from...

London's Best!

Advantages: Lots of things to do and see, a nice break from the city
Disadvantages: The weather will definitely affect how good a time you have!

...Hyde Park ~*~*~*~*~*~ Hyde Park is located, basically, in the middle of some of the busiest areas of London. Stepping through the gates magically transports you from the busy traffic, shops and rush of the city to lakes, long stretches of grass and trees and lots of wildlife! Getting There ~*~*~*~*~*~*~ Hyde Park covers a massive 350 acres and is therefore quite hard to miss! There are entrances to it all the way around. The Hyde Park website however states that the nearest rube stations are Lancaster Gate and Marble Arch (central line) and Hyde Park Corner and Knightsbridge (Piccadilly line). They advise against visiting by car due to limited parking spaces - in my opinion you should drive in London as little as possible! What is there to do? ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~ If you have children they will adore the park...

Riverbank Park Plaza - hotel is cheap and convenient for West End

Advantages: Cheap if you get a discount, very convenient for West End
Disadvantages: Rooms not ready, facilities that didn't work, requests that got lost, wrong keys for room

...The Riverbank Park Plaza is a mid-price four-star hotel located on London's Embankment, about 10 minutes walk (with heavy suitcase) from Vauxhall and 20 minutes from Waterloo. It is a comfortable hotel with plenty of lifts, which are definitely needed if you find yourself on the seventh floor. This is not a cheap part of the world to be staying in, and the prices here reflect that. However, if you book ages in advance, then you may be lucky like we were and find a special deal. We went here in July 2009 and the rooms cost about £80 per night. To get this deal, we booked several months in advance and found a special offer which was valid if we booked two consecutive nights. According to their website, the current discounted price is about £110 per night. The hotel itself had many facilities; sadly we did not have time to appreciate...

Do you lead an Intercontinental life? IC Park Lane London

Advantages: Great location. Excellent value for London. Brilliant service. Luxurious rooms!
Disadvantages: Still expensive as it's London!

...So now that many of you will now have read one of my Asian hotel reviews I thought it was about time to write about some luxury closer to home. Something more of you can get to easier should my reviews be powerful enough to sway your decision! London has one of the largest selection of hotels in the world and choosing one is certainly very hit and miss. The so called luxury hotels in London can be just that or they can be very poor. Having experienced excellent service and properties in the Far East it was difficult to find a property to rival any of these closer to home until I discovered the Intercontinental Park Lane. After staying in a variety of different properties I finally discovered the IC and plumped up for a stay here. Since then I have not been to another hotel in the capital. It really has ticked all my boxes which is no...

Ipod Touch 8Gb with engraving

Advantages: All the features of the iphone but without the massive price tag
Disadvantages: battery life could be better

...--Background-- I bought the iPod touch for my son for his 10th birthday. Before he alerted me to the item I knew nothing at all about it. Having played around with it for a few hours, I can now see what all the fuss is about as this item is so addictive. The touch comes in 3 guises, namely 8Gb, 16Gb and 32Gb versions. These are all identical apart from, obviously the storage capacity. --In the box-- I must admit that then the box came, I thought half the order had been missed as it is minute! Along with the ipod itself, you get the headphones, a usb to pc charger and a quick setup guide. Although this seem very little, it is actually enough to get you up and running in next to no time. As we bought this direct from the Apple store we were entitlted to free engraving on the back of the device. We took the decision to have his...
