Advantages: An Alistair MacClean story
Disadvantages: You get cold watching it

...Yet another story by Alistair MacClean that has made it to the big screen and now the small screen unless you have one of those huge TV’s. With Richard Widmark as Otto Gerran and Christopher Lee as Lechinski a Polish Russian and Lloyd Bridges as Smithy you would expect to watch a film of mystery and suspense with loads of action thrown in. They viewer would not be disappointed. Set in the Arctic on Bear Island, (longtitude 20 degrees east and 75 degrees north) hence the title of the film and book, the scene opens with a lone skier skimming along the arctic waste to his tent looking back anxiously for his pursuer. Hurriedly Larson tries to call a ship, the Morning Rose, on the emergency frequency. His call is cut short as a shot rings out. Al Pacino plays the role of Detective Will Dormer of the LAPD, and he is accompanied on the journey north by his partner Hap Eckhart (Martin Donovan). It seems odd that two detectives from California should be assigned to a case in Alaska, but the cover story is that a former colleague is now working in Nightmute PD, and he has requested that his respected and experienced colleague be seconded to the investigation into the murder of a girl in the town. Disadvantages: Not much depth to the personal side of the story

...in the arctic ocean and alerts Hall, who goes straight to the president with the horrifying news that the climate shift is already taking place and will happen now instead of hundreds of years down the line. At this point the president is finally willing to listen. This is no doubt helped by the fact that dozens of tornadoes are currenlty ravaging Los Angeles in a spectacular fashion. Buildings are ripped through, cars are sent flying across the city to smash into any hapless journalist stupid enough to be standing in their path. Hall predicts that within 6-8 weeks the whole of the northern hemisphere will experience a dramatic shift, ultimately resulting in a new ice age. ...favourite, my daughter enjoys it after she became aquainted with it on channel fives "Milkshake". (one of the many different childrens channels, that i call friend!!!) Rubbadubbers - Sploshy of the arctic - On a hot day in the bathroom, Sploshy imagines joining the explorers and polar bears of the arctic!!!! Now this really is one of my favourites!!! The cartoon is colourful and imaginative. Also there is an endless array of storylines due to the fact the storys are based on the bathtoys imaginations, and what they imagine they can do and be. Percy the park keeper - Sledge ride - Percy decides its the perfect day to build a sledge. But what do you think happens when the animals have the same idea? I don't mind this cartoon, though with how slow moving it is, it does get a little boring after a while, the only really watchable part... Read review

...Jack is as his name states the Captain of a boat, a boat now only ferrying tourists out to sea, and business is abysmal, so bad in fact that he decides to throw the towel in. However Jack has an unusual passion, in fact a passion so strong it rules his life, no other than the seafarer of 1791 Captain Scoresby. Jack is obsessed that Scoresby has not received his true recognition in Whitby, so he decides as a tribute he will follow in his footsteps to the Arctic in order to place a plaque of thank you from the town of Whitby. Of course any Captain needs a crew and with not a lot on offer he takes whoever is willing, these turn out to be the most unusual mixed bag you would ever see, An Australian Hitchhiker, two elderly sisters, a hen pecked husband and a love struck teenager. ...with brilliant hair, Vince Noir (Noel Fielding) and a refined and self important jazz fan, Howard Moon (Julian Barratt) work as zoo keepers. Their duties at the Zoo often get ignored as the pair set out on unwitting adventures each episode, ranging from an expedition to the Arctic Tundra to a Trek through the jungle. The characters are never aware of how strange their lives are, with no emphasis placed on characters' relationships with anyone outside the Zooniverse, or other mundane topics. -Style of the Show- The show has a fantastical and theatrical feel to it: none of the scenes are filmed on location, every setting, from the Zooniverse itself to the Jungle are very obviously sets built inside a studio. ...Miami is taken for the ride of his life by the snow dogs. Ice, snow, cold, sled and dogs a total recipe for a hilarious fun filled film. Not to mention the icy Thunder Jack who is trying to cheat Ted out of the dogs. With the Arctic Challenge less than 2 weeks away Ted is about to discover the journey of his life. We will see new and unfamiliar species and learn how they adapt toi desert life. This is the first time that the desert areas have been filmed in such detail, and the filming does not disappoint at all. Stunning scenes, the sun beating down on such a dry area will make you wonder how any creature could possibly inhabit these deserts.
