Benalmadena the Costa del Sol
Advantages: Friendly town with lots to do, a lovely holiday.
Disadvantages: If you steer clear of the 'English Bars' there are none
...divine and the food e tastes equally good. Be sure to have a 'proper' paella from one of these restaurants - washed down with a jug of sangria it is a must for any holiday to Spain. I can honestly say that in all of our holidays in Benalmadena I never had fish and chips, an 'English cupps'. pie and mash etc etc once - we ate compleetly Spanish food - very good it was too.
Benalmadena Costa also has its own casino, night club and golf course.
Benalmadena enjoys an average of 320 days of sun each year with an average temperature of 21°C. Of the 28 beaches the town offer most are are sandy, some shingle, some man-made, but they are all clean. The promenade is one of the smartest of the Costa del Sol with fantastic views out across the Mediterranean.
A holiday at Benalmadena is not just a holiday lazing on the beach or spent in...

Costa Del Sol
Advantages: Cheap loads of sun
Disadvantages: Too much english
...I have lived in Costa Del Sol for about a year and half and just returned home to the uk four weeks ago.One thing good about southern Spain is that there's plenty of sun all year round even in the winter its nothing like the UK it's sill quite warm.
There are plenty and plenty of English, Irish and Welsh bars out there which to me it was a bit too much and that's one thing that I didn't like in southern Spain due to its very English.
Shopping
I was situated just outside Torremolinos it's about half an hour from Fungerola which has Marks and Spencer and a very big shopping mall there.
Malaga is just half an hour way as well, in the central train station there is a shopping mall with plenty of shops, restaurants and cafes.
Night Life
Benelemedena has a 24hour even thou the pubs and clubs are not open 24h most of the clubs are...

Holiday Village-Benalmadena, Costa Del Sol
Advantages: Good for Children
Disadvantages: Too far from resorts
...Holiday Village,Benalmadena-Costa del sol,
stayed 2 weeks from 14 july 2007
Flight
2 and a half hours with First Choice was short and on time so really good as I hate flying!!
Transfer
From Malaga airport it takes about half an hour to transfer to the hotel, it is on the outskirts of Benalmadena.
Check-in
If you fill out the registration form on your transfer it is quick and easy. The staff were curtious and pleasant at all times.
Hotel set half way between Benalmadena and Fuengirola and not good for a stroll into either, its too far from both ,catch a bus!
The Living Room
Well this was my first let-down, as before we went away we had heard there was building work going on at the back of the hotel and also at the beach club where most of the pools are located. Hearing this I called into to my First Choice shop to...

Benalmadena - Costa Del Sol
Advantages: Plenty to do
Disadvantages: Noisy traffic
...I?ve just returned from a one-week holiday in Benalmadena in Costa Del Sol (June 2004) and would like to provide some information about Benalmadena Resort & Benalmadena Palace Apartments where we stayed.
****Benalmadena Palace Apartments****
Newly opened in February 2004, this Apart-Hotel has 4-Star rating.
The coach transfer from Malaga Airport to the Hotel was only about 30 minutes and that included a drop off a one other hotel first. Facilities include Outdoors Pool & Children?s pool, Indoor Pool and Jacuzzi, Sauna, Games Rooms, Table Tennis, Gym (Which was well equipped) Pool Table. Bar. Children?s play area, Mini-Golf (although there were only 5 holes!) Cyber café.
Some facilities were still being implemented, I don?t think the mini-golf was properly finished, and also Tennis Courts & 5-a-side football pitch were still under...

COSTA del CRANE
Advantages: Sunshine
Disadvantages: Feels like England
...When I was offered a week of Spain I jumped at the chance! Club La Costa was offering a week at California Beach, near Finguerola for only 29 pounds plus airfare to Malaga. We knew that it was early in the season but figured we would take the chance and beat the crowds.
Club La Costa is a large development about 30 mins from Malaga airport. You can take a Tiny Train between the Two main parts of the resort: Marina del Sol and California Beach (or as we learned, smile sweetly at any of the porters and they will drive you there!).
In this part of Spain it is low season until June 1.
So the restaurants and bars at the resort closed promptly at midnight - not at all like the Spain I had heard of where you eat late.
Eventhough you have the main pool to yourself, this is for a VERY good reason... it is NOT HEATED. There is...

Costa del Sol
Advantages: Friendly people, beautiful scenery, caters for all
Disadvantages: Driving in towns if you are not used to driving abroad
...15 minutes drive from Feungirola. Mijas has a bull ring and to cater for the more sensitive of us, perform with no blood sport. Also there are donkey and pony rides and above all the views are spectacular from the mountains down to the coast. Mijas has good shops, with the best buys being leather and lacework. One word of warning though, the paths are very hilly, and there are lots of steps and can be hard work.
The Spanish are a lovely people and very patient, so waiting for a meal takes longer than here. However you will never feel rushed into leaving after your meal. The shops shut between 2pm and 5pm for siesta, and as the sun gets very hot during the summer months, it's a nice time to sit back and relax on the beach or in a bar.
Driving in Spain can take some getting used to, especially in towns. Be aware of the traffic lights as...

How to get the best from the Costa del Sol
Advantages: lots to see and do, cheap flights
Disadvantages: many tacky bits
...The Costa del Sol probably has the worst reputation of any major European holiday destination. I live here and, well yes, that reputation is justified to an extent(see Bravo TV's Costa del Dosh for some examples). It is possible to have a great holiday here though even if you're not a lager lout/sex tourist/criminal and even if you don't like lying on the beach (as I don't) so here are a few ideas.
1. Places to avoid
Well I'll start with the worst bits shall I? There are one or two large towns on the Costa del Sol that are ugly and generally characterless. In particular I'd avoid Fuengirola and Benalmadena for these reasons, but even then they have their good points. It's possible to walk for over a mile in Benalmadena without seeing a Spanish person (but I think that, sadly, may be the point for some British tourists), but it...

Nerja - The Jewel of the Costa del Sol
Advantages: Unspoiled with an authentic Spanish feel
Disadvantages: Some of the apartments are situated up steep hills
...now. There are several small beaches, I think I counted 14. Also, there are a couple of larger beaches. The main ones being Playazo and Burriana. Playazo is the first beach you come to as you enter Nerja from the coast road. It runs along the front of the Marinas de Nerja aparthotel. It is a beach of coarse, greyish sand and not nearly as pretty as some of the smaller ones. Burriana I think is the most well known of the beaches. In recent years this area has developed vastly. Originally the main apartment complex in this area was Capistrano Playa which has the most spectacular landscaped, terraced gardens with a waterfall tumbling down the cliffside. There is direct access to the beach from here, although the walk is quite strenuous (not for the unfit or faint-hearted).
Nowadays, the area has shops, bars, restaurants, villas...

hotel sol principe is fit for a king.
Advantages: everything about the place is an advantage.
Disadvantages: the non smoking policy (for some)
...There is also a coach available from right outside the hotel which will take you on the coastal tour along the very impressive Costa del Sol front. Most of the attractions and coach tours can be booked from within the hotel but you can also just go to the bus stop spur of the moment and catch the coach and pay at the doors of all these attractions.
Back to the hotel itself and on to the cost. Obviously I booked this as most people would as a package holiday; it was booked through Thomas cook and cost £725 all inclusive per adult for a fortnight. That was the cost the last time I visited which was just over 2 years ago now, whilst not the cheapest holiday available it was no where near the most expensive and was worth every penny in my view.
Torremolinos is a beautiful place but I have heard many a nightmare story of accommodations...

Our best Holiday........So far
Advantages: Excellent Entertainment for all the Family, super daily events
Disadvantages: Very bland and repetitive food
...We went to the Beach Club in May 2006, I must admit that reading other reviews I was a little worried as other families had suffered from the bug.
We went to the beach club on an all inclusive basis and paid £305 per person on a late deal with Thompson Holidays.
Hotel itself is abit dated but the rooms are clean and there is a maid service everyday.
As mentioned in the disadvantages the food did become repetitive but there was always plenty to eat throughout the day including freshly baked baggettes. For some of our meals we went out and found a lovely Irish bar not far from the Hotel.
If you like the beach then this is the place for you !! the beach is just over the road (the road did get alittle busy at times so I do not recommend that you let the little ones go on there own.
Entertainment was outstanding...
