Bean a Bean half a Bean a Bean a bean and half...
Review of ITV - Mr. Bean by  dave27

Advantages: Funny
Disadvantages: Tight

...How many blue beans make five? All the brain cells in Mrs D's fatuous old head... Rowan Atkinson is best known for his extraordinary performances in the Blackadder series as the most cynical, sarcastic and spiteful man in British history, but he has other notable strings to his bow and among the most tuneful was his creation of the ultimate heir to the throne of the great silent comedians like Buster Keaton ... the answer of course is Mr Bean, but you'll know that if you've found your way to reading this review. This is one of the most internationally popular of all British comedy series, and it's easy to see why, with its almost total dependence on visual humour rather than quick witted repartee. Now in that, there could hardly be a series which is more diametrically different from Blackadder. Blackadder relies on witty scripts... Read review

BAKED BEANS WHERE WOULD YOU BE WITHOUT EM
Review of Heinz Baked Beans by  fromthedarkside

Advantages: Low in Fat, Nice and tasty, nice and saucy!!
Disadvantages: Pircey compared to other brands!

...Hello all! Its me. Ok, now you may have read this opinion before some of you, but that was because it was written by me as anytime03. But sadly tha account had to be terminated. And I've got my old account back as fromthedarkside. So this opinion is one of my previous written opinions. Thanks for reading! Ok, There are many companies who produce baked beans, like Tesco baked beans, or Sainsburys or other companies, but there is one who have beaten all competition, who have been championed the champions of baked beans (Well I think they should), and yes they are the one and only ‘Heinz’. ....((Brief History about Heinz and their baked beans)).... 1928 was the year, when the first British made baked beans came off the line. This was the year, which kicked the era of baked beans in Britain. Beans were around since then... Read review

Are these as magical as the beans Jack planted?
Review of Jelly-Belly Jelly Beans by  Amy69

Advantages: Reasonably healthy, wide variety, found in several stores
Disadvantages: Costly, addictive

...Jelly beans are one of those sweets which I could never make my mind up about. Did I like them? I could never decide! But the day I tried my first Jelly-Belly Bean, the answer was clear…! -----THE BEGINNING----- Jelly Belly beans are an American sweet, dating all the way back to 1869. Jelly beans were popular sweets for a short while, until the chocolate craze in the early 1900s. But nevertheless, when chocolate became rare during the Second World War, everybody craved other sweets, including the jelly bean. In 1976, in Los Angeles, the Jelly Belly bean was created, in several new and exciting flavours, as we know them today! Now, Jelly Belly has explored taste buds all over the world, including settling down in good old Britain! -----JELLY BELLY BRITAIN----- Jelly Belly beans are being sold in stores all over Britain now... Technicolour Dream Beans
Review of Jelly-Belly Jelly Beans by  jammy_banana

Advantages: lots of realistic flavours
Disadvantages: expensive, hard to get hold of

...All children love sweets right? All children love all sweets? Wrong. As a child there were few sweets that I was wary of. They included anything to do with liquorice and for some bizarre reason jelly beans. You see I had a bad experience with an inferior brand of jelly bean that took me quite a few years to get over. Thankfully with the love and support of my family (namely my mother who kept on buying my sister and I quality jelly beans for Christmas) I got over this phobia with a new experimental therapy. I call this therapy The Jelly Belly Treatment. Let’s face it jelly beans are a very American thing. In the grand old days of the British Sweet shop they would have been laughed out of town for being too small and too uniform, too perfect in shape and size. For some reason British sweets have a tendency to be huge irregular... Read review

Mr Bean - Vol. 2 DVD
Review of Mr Bean Vol.2 DVD by  mints4merlin

Advantages: Hilarious comedy, good viewing
Disadvantages: only 3 episodes, expensive to buy whole set individually

...Another installement to my DVD collection - the epic and classic comedy hero - Mr Bean. I love Rowan Atkinson, especially in Black Adder and also in the classic Mr Bean episodes. Despite my mood before hand, after watching Mr Bean I always feel much better, he always manages to intrigue my imagination with his biazarre mannerisms and abilty to turn the most straight forward of tasks into complete disaters! Having not being able to buy the whollebox set I have had to purchase and review each DVD volume one by one. This DVD contains 3 episodes, each with 3 or 4 sketches in them. All of whihc are brilliant and this DVD includes one of my favourites - the one where he goes to the swimming pool and clings to the diving board. The three episodes are entitled: Episode 1. 'The Curse Of Mr Bean', Episode 2. 'Mr Bean Goes To Town... Read review

NOT A HAS BEAN.
Review of Broad Beans by  L0BSTER_QUADRILLE

Advantages: SATISFYING TO GROW YOURSELF.
Disadvantages: fOUR MONTHS OF LOVE AND CARE, WHEN YOU CAN JUST BUY THEM IN A SUPERMARKET!

...I don't recall what sparked the idea, but March 2005, my husband and I decided to try our hand at growing vegetables. We realised it was a very un-cool and un-hip thing for a young couple, to be doing in their spare time. But, we felt inspired. Dressed in disguise; so, not to be noticed by our peers, we went in search for vegetable seeds in the garden centre. Amongst the vegetables we had decided to grow, were broad beans: my favourite vegetable. We found broad beans seeds; being sold by 'Thompson & Morgan' for around, two pounds. There were around fifty seeds in the pack and looked basically, like dried out broad beans, as served at the dinner table. Arriving home, feeling motivated, we researched how to propagate these seeds. - First of all, the soil where you plan to plant the beans needs to be prepared. This is done... Read review

Not just your average jelly bean.
Review of Jelly-Belly Jelly Beans by  broomari

Advantages: A very wide variety of extremely tasty flavours.
Disadvantages: Expensive compared to the bog standard jelly bean and hard to come by.

...As Christmas was fast approaching, I asked my brother to get me something different for a change. You see, I am a crazy Tigger fan and he always gets me a new Tigger for my collection at Christmas and I fancied a change, not to mention my bedroom looks like a kids room as I have Tiggers everywhere. My Christmas present was a bit late but I eventually got it when I went back to Yorkshire to visit my family and by gum it was worth the wait. He handed me a rather large and quite heavy parcel. When I opened it I was attracted to two large bags of bright, multicoloured Jelly Belly beans. Although I was kind of disappointed as I don’t like jelly beans, but he assured me that these were different. He was right…  The packaging My parcel included the bag of Jelly Belly beans, a reseal plastic bag and a leaflet. The Jelly... Read review

I'd Love To Be A Rich And Saucy Baked Bean
Review of HP Baked Beans, in Tomato Sauce by  Sexy-Kay

Advantages: A superior tasting tomato sauce plus there are more beans in a can.
Disadvantages: Contains more salt than Heinz beans.

...If I had to be a baked bean I'd be an HP brand because I'd be all rich and saucy. It would also be nice to know that my sauciness would be helping mens' prostate glands. With one stroke I'd be doing good, as they lapped up my lycopene content. Mind you, I wouldn't like be eaten. Mmmm, but on second thoughts, there are far worse ways to go than while being ... anyway ... I'm not a baked bean so it doesn't really matter, I just eat them. Oh, and I'm not like the bloke who went to the doctor with baked beans in his hair and dropping from his head. "Good gracious", said the surprised doctor, "What's the trouble?" "I don't seem to be eating properly", replied the man. To be truthful, though, I don't actually eat many beans nowadays, but when I do it has to be HP. I guess you're wondering why, when a bean is a bean, or maybe... Read review

Beans, Beans, the magical fruit...
Review of Somerfield 'makes sense!' Baked Beans by  Sweetiesarahjane

Advantages: Taste delicious, really cheap, good consistency
Disadvantages: Can only be bought from Somerfield stores

...… Oh grow up, I don’t want to hear the rest I hear some of you say after reading the title! I’ve been really stingy with my shopping this month – I’ve lived off hardly anything for ages, I’m not really skint its just that I couldn’t be arsed to go shopping and when I did I bought all of the really cheapy crappy things! I love Heinz beans. When it comes to anything like that I’m a bit of a snob – Heinz beans, Tomato ketchup, spaghetti – must be Heinz. Its not just the Heinz brand name, I mean their food just seems never to be met by competitors. Well, it used to be anyway. As I was grabbing tins off the aisles as I usually do in my mad rushed for time way, I noticed that Somerfield had their own brand of beans for 9p! Oh no, I thought – no way. Every other supermarket’s own brand beans are a load of crap and I’m not going... Read review

Bring on the Branston...Beans!
Review of Branston Baked Beans by  rowei

Advantages: Very tasty; cheaper than Heinz beans but better in quality
Disadvantages: None

...Think of baked beans and most of us will instantly think of Heinz. The two things have become synonymous with each other, and I'm sure I'm right in saying that Heinz have the monopoly in the UK baked bean market. However, Heinz is not the only producer of baked beans by any means. There are plenty of others out there - from supermarket own label beans to Weight Watchers and Organic brands. One of the lesser known names has to be Branston Baked Beans. Branston are part of the Crosse and Blackwell group and are perhaps more famous for pickles and sauce than for beans. As it says on the tin: "Branston is famous for its pickle and we'd like to become famous for our beans." To promote them, the company recently started extensive advertising on TV and the major supermarkets have also been running strong promotions on the beans... Read review
