...My name is VickyVickster and I am addicted to Bear in the big blue house. Don't laugh, it's true! I blame it all on my sister! Ok i'll explain. Are you sitting comfortably? This could take me a while. Whilst staying back at my parents house at Easter earlier this year, I sat and watched Playhouse Disney with my sister (who is 19 yeares old by the way) and although she does this on a regular basis anyway, my excuse was my little baby girl Bethanny (then around 5 months old) Anyway we got hooked. I found out it was on channel 5 at 8 am in the morning so it soon became a morning ritual, we'd watch "Bear" before we'd eat breakfast. ...Hello, it is I, Travis, back again for my second opinion on Ciao. Last time I wrote I did about the bear in the big blue houses dancing Toy. Now I am writing about the thing that started Bear off, the immortal show, Bear in the Big Blue House. I first started to watch Bear when mummy changed over from Sky Digital to NTL. The nasty people at Sky charged us extra for the Disney channel so mummy didn’t pay it. Now that we have changed, Daddy gets the Movie Channels so we get it as an extra! YAY! Matty says that it is made by some one called Jim Henson (He made a show called ‘The Muppets’. Was it about Matty?). He is meant to be famous for animal puppets. As long as he keeps bear, I don’t care about the others. I watch Bear at 9:30am, Noon and 5:30pm on Disney Channel but I also have the option to watch it on Channel 5 8am weekdays... Read review

...I have my two-year old nephew to thank for getting me into this. He has since moved on to the Tweenies and Bob the Builder, but my fiance and I are firm Bear addicts and I have even been known to relegate Eastenders when this is on. That’s serious! Created by Jim Henson (him of the Muppets and Sesame Street) this is a children’s programme with fantastic loveable characters which teaches children about social values (how to share and so on), relationships, love, friendships, as well as more practical things (shapes, numbers, and so on.) It is on at 8am on channel 5, or at least it used to be, I no longer get channel 5, but I watch it on the disney channel at various times of day. ...My daughter watches Playhouse Disney on Sky as it is full of programmes aimed at young kids. A great programme that she loves is called Bear In The Big Blue House. She giggles whenever he comes onto the screen and can sit for the length of the programme hypnotised! The programme starts off with Bear and friends singing the Big Blue House song and then Bear always sniffs at the screen. Making little children believing that he's sniffing them to see what they've been doing, washing their hands, eating oranges or the likes. My daughter loves this bit and even now at 8months will sniff back at the screen. During this bit Bear will come across a 'word' that will be used throughout the programme and it can be anything from numbers to activities. ...I remember watching this cool programmes many years ago when i was younger i think about 5 or 6, i am nineteen now. The Gummi Bears were sooo cool, they had special Gummi juice and basicly in every episode they had to save the day with the magical powers of their Gummi juice, but why is it on so early in the morning i think it should be on later on in the day, i think it most probably appeals to the children today i know it still appeals to me but then again i am just a big kid at heart, any cartoons or childrens progreammes i am right there wathcing it, you cannot get me away from the tv when there are cartoons on.... ...If like me you watch "Live and dangerous" on Channel 5 late at night, you will all too often drift off to sleep during the programme. Sport is great but not at 3 a.m.! So you leave the telly on. Next thing you know, its morning and there is a rather annoying Orange bear on the TV with an American accent! That would be Bear in the Big Blue House. I say annoying but that is only because it is associated with waking me up. Apart from this, Bear is very educational for the children. Bear appears in his Big Blue house with his friends who help him educate young minds. His friends comprise of: Tutter, Who is a little Blue mouse Ojo, who is a little bear Pip and Pop , Treelo, the Lemur Shadow, The girl shadow Luna, the Moon! ...Bear in the big blue house, a program I had never heard of until a neighbours son ranted and raved that he wanted it on! Now my son is pretty much the same, including at the weekend when it isn't on! My son is 2 years old and sits absolutely captivated for 20 minutes every weekday morning from 8am until 8.20. Why?? The appearance of a seven foot bear and his friends, affectionately known as 'the guys'! Bear in the big blue house is a Jim Henson Company creation, about the aforementioned friendly bear, who lives (unsurprisingly) in a big blue house, along with an assortment of pals. Ojo the small teddy bear (not sure of gender), tutter a bizzare (small) blue?? mouse, pip and pop, 2 of the craziest (purple) otters i have ever seen! not to mention, treelo a green (?) racoon, shadow a shadow girl that tells stories and lunar, bears... ...Teddy Bear Club International Magazine is a thoroughly absorbing read for all lovers of teddy bears, particularly collectors of traditional mohair teds. As a mohair bear artist myself, I am always on the lookout for a decent magazine to support my craft and this one I rate amongst the best! It always includes a pattern for a fully jointed bear for you to create yourself (with good clear instructions) and normally a pattern for a dressed item too. The magazine is jammed full of articles, interviews with top bear artists and manufacturers, a readers page, and loads of yummy teddy bear photos to drool over! It also comes with an awful lot of advertisements, but these are actually not at all offputting as most show more photos of adorable teds created with love and attention to detail by teddy bear artists all over. Bear In The Big Blue House ----------------------------------------- A favourite with many children and adults alike, Bear lives in a Big Blue House (Duh!) along with his friends OJ, (a little bear), Tutter (a blue mouse), Pip and Pop (Twin otters) and Treelo (a Lemur). The programme always starts with Bear sniffing the viewer and again follows a theme. Off the top of my head there have been such themes as Sharing, going to the fair and starting school. Stanley ------------ Stanley is a little boy who is extremely facinated with nature. He has a Big Book Of Everything, into which he will jusp to discover new and interesting things about animals.
