The Albert Dock-Wonderful Reincarnation

Advantages: A lot to do and see.
Disadvantages: Can get crowded

...The Albert Dock is the major visitor attraction in Liverpool and is an amazing reincarnation for it was a decaying dock area not so many years ago. Today its roaring success is because there is a lot to do and see at this attraction. As the whole world knows the most famous pop group ever were Liverpool born and bred and the Beatles Story Exhibition pulls in a lot of visitors. Liverpool.at one time, was the world's greatest port and the base for migrants from Europe to go to the New World. The fascinating story of this is well told in the Mersey Maritime Museum. For culture buffs there is the Tate Gallery North to visit and the Customs and Excise Museum attracts a large number of people. The place has an excellent range of cafes, bars, pubs and restaurants and if you fancy a shopping binge you have a lot of choice with the likes of book...

Bose Sound Dock (2nd Generation)

Advantages: Incredible sound from such a small unit, good build quality
Disadvantages: Price

...I bought this unit in November this year. There are two models, the original sound dock which I think is about £199 and the second generation one (the one I bought) which was £279 from John Lewis. The second generation one is basically the same as the first except: a) it has a rechargeable battery b) it has a swing out dock c) it has an auxiliary (3.5mm) jack input If you just want a basic model, then go for the first gen one. I got the second gen one because I thought the battery was a useful addition as is the auxiliary 3.5mm input - I have mine connected to an apple airport express that streams itunes from my laptop to my bedroom although I have used it in a friends house with my ipod too. The sound quality is good for its size which is about the same as a hardback book and it weighs in at about 1 kilo. You can take...

Bose SoundDock Digital Music System Review

Advantages: Superb Sound, Very Loud, Ideal for Ipods
Disadvantages: not go to travel with, Extremely Expensive

...Bose SoundDock Digital Music System I happened to get this as a gift and it turned out to be quiet interesting Summary: This dock is used mainly for ipod and allows you to connet mp3 players to it and listen to high quality music via speakers. It is idle for homes and small gatherings, although I would not run a party off these. Pros: This system has terrific sound and can go very load despite its relative small size. As with almost all Bose speakers the quality is amazing, so long as the source you are playing it from is high quality it will allow the speakers to each its potential. I have a surround sound Bose set up in one of my rooms but now prefer to use this product as it is very simple to operate. Just plug the mp3 player in and press play and your set. Can't get much simpler. It also runs off a wall...

Can't say enough good things about the Bose SoundDock

Advantages: size, ease of use, sound quality
Disadvantages: can't connect to a computer, price

...figure out what they do. It also charges your iPod while it's docked, so there's no worry about it running out of battery while using the SoundDock. I think the best thing I could say about this, is that two people, after having listened to my SoundDock have literally rushed out and bought their own. I've had this almost a year now and my overall conclusion is this...it's small, it's pretty and it sounds bloody brilliant....

Once upon a time, in Liverpool...

Advantages: An excellent museum dedicated to the Fab Four, suitable for all age groups
Disadvantages: Some of the headsets are a bit dodgy (it was just mine) and some displays not working

...the river. Being small and ignorant, I don?t remember much about the day other than a dark corridor which lead to a place called ?The Cavern? and my Dad getting me a coin in the special machine that was squished into saying ?Penny Lane?. Add ten years on from that memory and I?m not quite as unaware as I was back then and now-a-days, I seem to have a bit of a thing for learning about all things Beatle-esque. The museum situated in the mists of Albert Dock is The Beatles Story, a place where all Beatles obsessees go to marvel in their unhealthy hobby and jump around like lunatics when they come face to face with some rather interesting curios. ABOUT THE BEATLES STORY Currently speaking, The Beatles Story prides itself on being the only permanent Beatles themed exhibition in the world and takes advantage of the fact that it is set in...

Review of The Beatles Story, Liverpool

A Great Day Out.

Advantages: Interesting shops and many attractions.
Disadvantages: None

...The first time we visited the Albert Dock at Liverpool was when I won a competition in one of our local newspapers for a family ticket to the Beatles Story Exhibition, plus free train travel to and from Liverpool. As we walked through Liverpool from the train station we already realised what a wonderful city Liverpool seemed to be, with a great shopping centre and very friendly local people. When we arrived at the Albert Dock we were very pleasantly surprised. We expected the Beatles Story to be the main attraction at the Dock, but in fact it is only one of many interesting and varied places to see and visit around the Dock. Of course the River Mersey dominates the whole area and I did not realise just how wide this river was and to sit on the banks of the river watching the boats go by is very relaxing on a sunny afternoon...

Collingwood21 Gets Sent to Room 101 (And Likes It)

Advantages: Renovated 19th building with character retained, Good room & breakfast, Helpful staff
Disadvantages: My mattress was a bit too firm

...remained of the buildings - regeneration work began in 1983, with the final undeveloped areas brought into use in 2003. My last visit to the Albert Dock was to the shopping area a good 12 years previously, but now the dock houses many of Liverpool's top visitor attractions as well, including the Merseyside Maritime Museum and The Beatles Story. The regenerated area is very attractive and lively (it reminds me a lot of the Historic Docks in Gloucester and parts of Bristol), with the original buildings having been redeveloped sensitively. The Premier Inn is within this area of regeneration, next door to The Beatles Story and only 5 minutes walk from the Echo Arena; there are plenty of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants in the area and it is an excellent base for tourists to the city. A lively, central location with good local amenities but be...

Review of Premier Travel Inn Liverpool - Albert Dock, Liverpool

Perfect Beatles stop-over

Advantages: Excellent location and value for money
Disadvantages: Nearest car park was full due to high demand tourist location

...Premier Travel Inn is the result of a recent merger between the Premier Lodge and Travel Inn hotel chains. My partner and I were looking for a hotel in Liverpool city centre, close to the bars and attractions. Having made a reservation for dinner at Blue Bar & Grill in the Albert Dock, we made enquiries and were delighted to find that this hotel was only a few steps from the restaurant, and was available at a very reasonable nightly rate (approx. £50 per room per night). On arrival, we were greeted with Beatles music being played from the dock area downstairs, immediately reminding us of our location and creating a good atmosphere. The hotel reception was clean and the staff friendly and helpful. On-site facilities include a bar, restaurant and room service provision. Our room was spacious and comfortable...

The Blank Canvas of The Beatles!

Advantages: One of the most amazing collections of songs you will ever hear - so varied and exciting
Disadvantages: There are some weak links and some songs you do really wonder about...

...a mother and son duo whom the group met whilst in India. Although tiger hunting may seem like a rather odd topic of a song, and indeed it translates as such, but ?Bungalow Bill? is one of my favourite tracks on the first disk; Lennon takes a rather odd character and makes it into an enjoyable little folk tale, complete with flamenco guitar beginning, which includes all four of the Beatles and Ringo?s then wife, Maureen, providing backing vocals on the chorus to create the chanting of a camp fire story. Yoko Ono provides her voice for the female character in the middle of the song but the less said about that the better...?The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill? can be seen as being more McCartney-esque because it?s quite fruity and chronicles the tales of another, much like Paul had done previously with ?Eleanor Rigby? and ?Lovely Rita?. Lennon...
