..., as Pearl (her mother) seems to pick out every flaw about her. Melanie’s father on the other hand is a lot kinder and less critical. Both her parents like rein acting old battles. Melanie’s old feelings for Jake start to harbour again, but when Andrew comes back, her feelings are starting to become all mixed up again. Will Jake and Melanie get together? If so what will happen to Andrew? If Mel and Jake do get together, will they be able to adjust to each others very different life style? Will Mel’s mother stop nit picking, and is there a reason she does? You will have to rent or buy it to see. The acting is one of Sweet Home Alabama’s best points. Advantages: Liam Aiken's performance as Abner, the cute kid next door
Disadvantages: Unbelievable script and stiff and wooden performance by Keanu Reeves

.... All sounds innocent enough you're thinking? Well it's not. Reeves and romantic chick flicks do not go together and the mere sound of his voice in this film literally makes me want to reach for the sick bucket! Don't get me wrong, it's not a personal vendetta that I have against him, I thought he was excellent in The Matrix and he's one of the reasons that I went to see this film, but he really doesn't cut it in this and instead delivers a very stiff and wooden performance. Admittedly Theron is more convincing but any positive elements to this film are overshadowed by the dreadful performance by the leading man and the predictable and cheesy script which contains way too many coincidences to be believable, for example Sara's (gay, how original!) best friend just happens to be Nelson's main rival in the ad world... ...the characters... Zack Martin and Cody Martin Zack is the oldest of the twins and with Cody being the youngest. The twins both have the same long blonde hair. They both look very indentical , but you can tell the twins apart as Zack is the more overweight twin and Cody is the more thinner yet geekier looking twin. They may both look the same , but they have completely different personalites and interests. Cody is into cooking , inventing , and he also get's the better grades at high school. Cody has a really sweet nature , he is caring , kind and he is very intelligent and always does the best for people , well he trys. Advantages: Great 1930s feel, lightness of touch, Samantha Morton.
Disadvantages: Woody Allen is usually an acquired taste, so its audience might be limited

...to a head by a mousy laundress who also happens to be mute. Samantha Morton, as Hattie, is the film's unexpected star....giving a quite amazing and adorable performance in a role that could have been cloying. She elevates the movie into something special, without saying a word. There has a been a trend in Hollywood for many years, come Oscar-time, for anyone in that year's Woody Allen picture to gain recognition. Sweet & Lowdown proved no different in that respect, with both Penn and Morton gaining nominations for their work on the film. Whether actors view a part in an Allen movie as a ticket to Oscarville is open to question, but the material he provides for his protagonists really does seem to bring out the best in their abilities. Advantages: Funny light-hearted comedy & Rupert Everett in general

...but in this film for comic purposes Kimmy almost reaches ‘Carry On’ proportions. Starring in a film with Julia Robert’s it would be easy to be overpowered but Cameron more than holds her own as the sickening sweet Kimmy. In fact the two rival women are so equally matched, each with their own loveable qualities, it is almost impossible to decide whom you would like to win the day. Rupert Everett: The consistently brilliant Rupert Everett plays Julianne’s gay best friend George who attempts unsuccessfully to moderate her more crazy schemes. Throughout the film he provides some of the biggest laughs especially while reluctantly posing as Julianne’s fiancé. Also watch out for his rendition of the classic ‘I Say A Little Prayer’ – he has a surprisingly excellent voice!  IN CONCLUSION  MY BEST FRIEND’S WEDDING is a classic romantic... Read review

...This was not a movie that was top of my list to go and see. It was one of those “lowest common denominator” things – where a group of you are going to the cinema, and end up choosing the movie that is least offensive to everyone! “Sweet Home Alabama” is a kind of Princess fairy tale. It’s also a Disney film, so it will come as no surprise that it has a 12 certificate, and it’s definitely suitable for family viewing.. And yes, it's inoffensive, generally speaking. It’s directed by Andy Tennant, who was previously responsible for Anna and the King. Reese Witherspoon plays Melanie Carmichael, a top fashion designer. ...Sweet Home Alabama is a film that I first went to see at the cinema. I enjoyed the film and when it was released later last year on video and DVD I dropped a few hints that I would like the DVD. Christmas morning I unwrapped my copy of the film. The film is about a young woman called Melanie (played by Reece Witherspoon) who is from Alabama but moved to New York where she is now a successful fashion designer and she gets engaged to the son of New York’s mayor. She has to return home to Alabama to get a divorce from her childhood sweetheart Jake (played by Josh Lucas) who she married very young. ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ is a romantic comedy and is very predictable. ...Sweet Home Alabama is another romantic comedy starrng Reese Witherspoon, that I saw in the cinema and now own on DVD. Melanie Charmichael (Witherspoon) is an up-and-coming NY fashion designer, who is engaged to one of NY's most eligible bachelors who happens to be the major's son. However we soon learn that Melanie's life is not so rosy when her secret past is revealed: she is from a working class background in the deep south, and more importantly, her husband is refusing to divorce her. The plot is essentially Melanie's personal journey as she struggles to separate her past from her future. The movie is full of excellent contrasts: between NY and Alabama, the 2 men in her life, her mother, mother-in-law, and mother-in-law to be. ...years ago, she then realises that they are not demons as she likes her old life she just thought that she has to avoid it after splitting up from her husband Jake. Just to make matters worse Jake refuses to divorce her, which obviously throws a spanner in the works to her new wedding to Andrew. Reese Witherspoon is an incredible actress and this film is one of her best. I am glad the way the film turns out, it was the right ending and the best outcome for the film. The characters are great and the acting in this film was fantastic. I strongly recommend you see this film.... Read review

...A Weinstein Road To Rhode Island To Love And Die In Dixie I Am Peter Hear Me Roar Lethal Weapons Throughout these five episodes, a lot happens: Peter needs a Jew to solve his money problems; Brian and Stewie go on a road trip; the Griffins travel to the south under the witness protection program; Peter gets in touch with his feminime side after he sexually harasses a co-worker; and the Griffins beat the **** out of each other. The show is done so tongue-in-cheek that makes these episodes hilarious.
