Not the old bill

Advantages: Brilliant drama!
Disadvantages: none that I can think of.

...I have watched the Bill on and off since it started. They had improved it by changing from the original format of two ½ hourly episodes a week to two hourly ones now. Then last year they decided to give the whole cast a revamp and get rid of some of the cast that had been there since day one. Some of the cast members that they got rid of I don't miss but they also decided to kill off John Bolton, he was one of my favourite characters, and quite sexy with it. Why am I telling you all about this! Well its the special episodes that are currently being shown that I am actually writing this about but I think you need to know why they are so popular with a lot of people. Its because DS John Bolton was murdered by Don Beech, played by Billy Murray a great actor, and he is now on the run from the police. This series of special episodes...

Bill Bailey Lite

Advantages: occasionally funny, well performed musically with great stage effects
Disadvantages: much of the new material isnt funny, frequently recycles old material

...As a huge fan of Bill Bailey, I had high expectations for 'Tinselworm' after the hilarious 'Part Troll', but Bill's newest dvd left me feeling very disappointed indeed. Bill's career has been going from strength to strength of late, his hard-won and much deserved popularity culminating in this, his latest dvd, in which he takes his latest tour to Wembley for his first arena performance. Inevitably, the intimate feel is lost, and combined with the lukewarm nature of his new material the whole show feels like Bill Bailey dumbed down for the masses. His clever, surreal and often philosophical material doesn't translate well to an arena setting, and his performance often seems forced, as if he is uncomfortable but doing his best to put on a brave face. Much of the material is recycled from his previous shows; a comedic reworking...

The Bill

Advantages: great drama
Disadvantages: none

...The bill is a very good programme, I never miss an episode. It think what makes this programme such a sucess is the attention to detail of the producers and how realistic it is. The actors are also great, many of us wonder what its like to police the country and this programme gives us a great insight even if its not all true as to what it would be like. Continuity is very important and this programme has always kept many of its main characters which helps alot. The viewing public like to see the same old faces telling new jokes and new stories. This is a great show....

Autobiographical of Wild Bill Hickok

Advantages: Totally awesome, very accurate
Disadvantages: none

...I cannot emphasise just how well done this film is. For anybody that enjoys a decent western movie, this is ideal. This film is a biography of one of the greatest gunfighters to ever descend onto the wild west. Based on the true story and events of James Butler Hickok, otherwise known as Wild Bill Hickok, played magnificently by Jeff Bridges. The movie Incorporates many of the early events in Hickoks life before his violent demise in Deadwood, south Dakota. Because of time limitations in the film, The director gets many of Hickoks exploits over in a very clever way. Hickok has a friend, an English dandy man, called Charley Prince played by John Hurt. Throughout the film Charley is telling stories to people in Saloons etc all about Wild Bill. The Irony is that many time Hickok is actually uncomfortable with this, and he attempts to...

Burglar Bill

Advantages: Nice Pictures, Happy Ending, Story with a moral
Disadvantages: Some children might be afraid of Burglars.

...Burglar Bill is a paperback childrens book written by Janet and Allan Ahlberg it is aimed at children from around 4 upwards. It is short enough that you could read it all to a 4 year old but would also appeal to older children who could read it themselves. Authors Its written and illustrated by the same people who wrote the Jolly Postman, Each Peach, Pear Plum and Peepo. These are all very popular childrens books and this is no exception. Cost = It costs around £4.99 for a new copy but you can get it secondhand for much cheaper. Pictures There are colour pictures on every page. Each picture has lots to look at, for example there is a little mouse under Bills bed and all the stolen property stashed around the house. The burglars are dressed in striped jumpers with eye-masks and big bags...

Diamond review  Kill Bill Will Thrill

Advantages: Bloody, violent, action-fest
Disadvantages: Limited plot, part 1 of 2 films

...In a remote Texan chapel, an atrocity has been committed. A wedding party has been brutally slain, their bodies battered, bloodied and riddled with bullet holes. Still in her white wedding dress, the bride’s body is perhaps the most tragic. Dead from a gunshot to the head, the wretched woman lies on the floor like a human tomb for the unborn child that she was carrying. But whilst the infant has indeed been murdered, The Bride has not. Four years later she wakes from her coma and miraculously comes to life. The Bride is a member of an infamous team of assassins named the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, led by a man known simply as Bill. For reasons we are yet to understand, it was the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad who set about the Texan massacre and the memory of those individuals who were responsible remains permanently...

A wild night in Wild Bill's

Advantages: Fun night out, cheap drinks
Disadvantages: Food was cold and not exactly gourmet

...One of the evenings on our trip to Banff was spent in Wild Bill?s. This was somewhere that Mr Tart had visited on a previous trip and he really wanted to return there. LOCATION: Wild Bill?s is located at 137 Banff Avenue, right in the centre of the town. The entrance is quite small because the bar itself is located above a load of shops, but there is a sign outside. THE EXPERIENCE: We booked our table because we were going on one of the nights that the band was playing, however I?m not sure that this was necessary as the place had quite a lot of space when we arrived. The bar is quite big and can hold a lot of people, but it did get busier later on. It is set out a bit like an old saloon with lots of wild west décor and a big dancefloor in the middle. We were eating in Wild Bill?s that night so had a proper table, not...

The Bill - elements of it genre

Advantages: Gripping drama
Disadvantages: More than just acting at paly

...Drama is an extremely popular genre which has been around us throughout history, from the early live performances and books of Shakespearean times, into the age of Radio and the audio broadcast of one-off plays and long running series’ that captivated very decent listening figures, until and indeed beyond the revolution of television, where household names like Z-Cars etc. finally gave us the chance to get visually caught up in the suspense and intrigue that was and is so common with the genre. Radio still offers its listener regular early and late evening pleasure with its wide variety of stories and plays, but we will look in depth at television’s interpretation of the Drama genre. The following analysis will be concerned with an episode of the ITV police drama, “The Bill”. It was screened at 8.00pm...

Review of The Bill

Where's the thrill, Bill?

Advantages: Uma Thurman and Sonny Chiba.
Disadvantages: Overlong, Doesn't maintain interest, some scenes are too long.

...Right from the off, "Kill Bill Volume 1" pulls no punches, and the black and white introduction sees a pregnant "The Bride" (Uma Thurman) get shot in the head as part of a bloody massacre on her wedding day. Four years later, and The Bride awakens from her coma and as her memories of her wedding day return and the realisation that she has lost her child, she starts off on a quest for revenge against her old mentor and lover, Bill, and his Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, a group in which she used to belong. That's the plot, pure and simple. "Kill Bill Vol. 1" is Quentin Tarantino's first film in six years since "Jackie Brown" and has been eagerly awaited for some time. As I consider myself to be quite a large Tarantino fan, I settled down to watch this with high hopes, but unfortunately the film did not satisfy me at all...

Farmer Bill's Large Nuts

Advantages: The best ice cream I have ever had
Disadvantages: Very dear to buy

...I realise it is Winter, and for many people the prospect of eating ice cream in the coldest season of the year is a strange concept, but our family is one who enjoy ice cream at any time of the year. Although we own an ice cream maker and often concoct our own home made ice creams, we also enjoy shop bought luxury ice creams, and are always keen to try out new flavours. This weekend saw us visiting our local farm shop, who stock an extensive range of home made jams, chutneys, bread, cakes, and dairy produce. The freezer displayed a range of ice creams, made by Farmer Bill, a name not familiar to me at all. Each ice cream is packaged in a one litre circular waxed carton, with the markings of a Fresian cow around the whole container, no doubt to convey to the consumer that the ice cream is going to be notoriously creamy...
