Reviews of the biscuits
Luxury is a chocolate biscuit, apparently
Review of Fox's Luxury Biscuit Assortment by
jammy_banana
Advantages: Wonderful tasting chocolate and biscuit combination
Disadvantages: Some are a bit samey
...When you think of luxury what comes to mind? Is it velvet? Is it silk? Is it a Caribbean cruise or a week in the Bahamas? When it comes to biscuits “luxury” seems to imply that they will be covered in chocolate. At least that is what Fox’s seem to think. You look at the selections they put out. They have the family favourites which are biscuits like jam sandwich creams and custard creams and digestives; good biscuit tin biscuits. Then you look at their luxury selection and discover that every biscuit is entirely covered in chocolate. Presumably this harks back to the time when chocolate was a luxury item. Thankfully chocolate is no longer seen as such a luxury but apparently covering biscuits in chocolate still makes them luxury biscuits.
Anyway, I digress. Last Christmas we received a couple of boxes of Fox’s Speciality...

Sainsbury's Premium Chocolate & Cream Biscuits
Review of Sainsbury's Premium Chocolate and Cream Biscuits by
lilyellowfish
Advantages: Tasty, variety, good quality, not overpowering or sickly
Disadvantages: Packaging
...~~~~~~~~
Selection
~~~~~~~~
The selection pack contains 12 different biscuits which come in a plastic tray, that most selection boxes come in with a plastic wrapping, which unfortunately makes the biscuits not seem so special anymore, but this is fine, you can just throw that away. I think if the biscuits came in a box, it would have looked better. You do also have to be careful not to place anything too heavy onto of the packaging or the biscuits could break as there is no protection. On the blue plastic wrapping a large picture of a selection of the tasty biscuits you get in the pack. You get about 2 or 3 of each biscuit, the more popular ones tend to have 3 over 2. So all together you get about 30 biscuits on average.
Most selection packs state on the back which biscuits they contain with a little menu, as I call it...
Shortcake biscuit that is neither cake nor biscuit
Review of Marks & Spencer Extremely Chocolatey biscuit Selection by
SeasonTicketless
Advantages: Chocolatey, tastes good
Disadvantages: Price, too much chocolate and not enough biscuit
...When I was a kid, being the naďve Catholic school attending boy that I was, I used to think that Marks & Spencer foods were made in another Catholic school in the town, as they were produced by St Michael. Images of podgy kids in chef hats adorned my furtive imagination as I thought of all the fun that they must have making all the yummy goodies that we only had in our house on special occasions.
You see, Marks and Spencer foods are that little bit more expensive. However, in my eyes they are worth paying the extra for, and though our measly household income doesn’t allow us to shop there every week (and can I just say thank God for the Tesco value range!), every now and then we allow ourselves a few treats from the main M&S store in town. They were worth the extra money, that is, until I found out how much these biscuits were...
The wallflower biscuit
Review of McVities Rich Tea Biscuits by
jammy_banana
Advantages: Wonderfully comforting biscuit
Disadvantages: Crumbs, some may find too plain
...How do you take your tea? With milk? With sugar? With lemon? All three? None? I’ll bet, though, that you take your tea with biscuits. There is something so typically British about having tea and biscuits. They go together. But what type of biscuits to have with your tea? In days gone by you had a pretty limited choice. This is my theory on how the Rich Tea Biscuit got its name. I have no idea whether it is true or not but it makes sense that there would be a special biscuit just for tea-breaks.
The Rich Tea biscuit is, I feel, an often overlooked biscuit. Instead of reaching for a Rich Tea most people are drawn to fancier biscuits like the chocolate digestive or a Hobnob or any variety of posh supermarket biscuits and cookies. These biscuits have charms that the Rich Tea does not, namely chocolate or cream fillings...
Is that a dead fly in your biscuit
Review of Crawfords Gariboldi Biscuits by
mumsymary
Advantages: splendid biscuit
Disadvantages: looks like dead flies in it
...Crawford garibaldi biscuits,
Is that a dead fly in your biscuit, no dear it's a currant a bit squashed. There are several currants squashed in a Garibaldi biscuit.
.The garibaldi biscuit was created by the English. It was named after Giuseppe Garibaldi to honour the Italian general who led the fight to unify Italy. Last year 2007 is the bicentenary of the birth of Giuseppe Garibaldi. (July 4, 1807 - June 2, 1882. Giuseppe Garibaldi visited London in 1864
A make of garibaldi biscuits that I like is Crawford's, or united biscuits as Crawford's sold out to united biscuits in the 1960's.
.{{ I have read on various web sites that the first garibaldi biscuit made by Crawford's was in 1813 in Leith, Edinburgh since 1 Garibaldi was born in 1807 I doubt that the biscuit named after a 9 year old. I suspect it was a different...
The chocolate's got balls, biscuit balls
Review of Cadbury Dairy Milk with Shortcake Biscuit. by
jammy_banana
Advantages: cadbury's chocolate, nice biscuit
Disadvantages: doesn't really work together
...When I was a child the only chocolate bars you could get with biscuit in them were Boosts and Twix. Everything else fell into the category of chocolate biscuit as opposed to chocolate bar. It is indeed a fine line between biscuit and chocolate bar. For example the Twix, without the caramel it would be almost identical to the Cadbury’s finger biscuits yet the Twix is considered to be a chocolate bar. Indeed some supermarkets cannot make up their minds. They’ll put Kit Kat Chunkies in the chocolate aisle and standard Kit Kats in the biscuit aisle However now the chocolate companies seem keen to add biscuit to chocolate bars and confuse the amateur snacker. I do not intend to be so confused.
The Cadbury’s Dairy Milk with Biscuit is another relatively new addition to the Cadbury’s Dairy Milk mega-brand. It was launched at about...
The Bourbon Biscuit
Review of Bourbon Biscuits by
newby2
Advantages: The Bourbon Biscuit
Disadvantages: The Bourbon Biscuit
...The Bourbon Biscuit
After seeing a couple of people who had already written about this wonderful biscuit I just couldn’t resist giving it a review myself as this has to be my biscuit of choice by far.
Everyone I am sure has come across the classic Bourbon biscuit at some point in their lives because it has been around for years and is a fairly cheap chocolate snack. The biscuit itself is basically a chocolate flavoured biscuit layer with chocolate cream in the centre and a further chocolate biscuit base. The whole biscuit is about 4 inches long and a wonderful shade of coco brown.
You can get these Bourbon biscuit from just about anywhere as most places do their own version of them as to my knowledge there is not one main leading manufacturer in this particular biscuit.
I have tried many different makes...
Tea with biscuits
Review of Fox's Sports Biscuits by
mssp60
Advantages: A very good product
Disadvantages: Who might not like it
...We all love tea and biscuits with tea will always go down very nicely. Some people like shortcake or chocolate biscuits or both types. The Fox’s Sports biscuit is a shortcake biscuits featuring a range of your favourite sports. They have been making this biscuit for more than fifty years. Over the fifty years those sports that have become popular have been added and does which became unpopular dropped. The size of each biscuit is 4cm by 5.5cm. This biscuit is one of the top five Fox’s premium products. This is my personal favourite biscuit. I like these biscuit very much because I like plain biscuits more than chocolate. The combination of flour and sugar is just perfect. My little son likes them. For those who like to dip their biscuit in tea before eating, you can do so for a several seconds. For a biscuit...
More than just a Chocolate Biscuit
Review of Bahlsen First class chocolate biscuits by
rowei
Advantages: Delicious, generous layer of milk chocolate
Disadvantages: Not many in a box, not the cheapest of biscuits
...It is a long time since I last bought a packet of chocolate biscuits. They are a particular favourite of mine, although I must confess that I do not crave them quite as much during the Summer months. However, whilst shopping today in Morrisons, I noticed a 2 for Ł2 offer on Bahlsen Chocolate Biscuits and thought I'd buy two boxes to take advantage of the offer.
So what are they? Let's start with a few facts...Bahlsen Chocolate Biscuits are made in Germany. The Bahlsen name is very well-known in Germany and is the biggest maker of biscuits. It is also one of the biggest names in Europe as a whole, and, according to the company's website, is the largest family-run business entreprise in the world!
There are several varieties of Bahlsen biscuits available, including Milk Chocolate, Dark Chocolate and Orange Chocolate. I do not like...
Rolo Sweets in a Biscuit
Review of Rolo Biscuits by
Lizard_Lover
Advantages: The caramel and biscuit base is gorgeous
Disadvantages: The Nestle chocolate is vile
...Whilst wandering around Tesco at the weekend, I chanced upon the biscuit shelves. Nestling amongst the other chocolate delights were some long, brown, flat packets, with the word Rolo blazing out from the wrapper in large, red lettering. Suitably curious, I placed a couple of packets in my basket and bought them home to sample.
The packet contains 5 biscuits, each weighing 21 grams. Each biscuit will supply you with 115kcal and a horrendous 5.3g of fat, so my immediate impression after reading the calorific value, was that I was going to love them. Anything that contains such a high volume of fat, is bound to taste wonderful!
The packets cost 78p, which means that each of the biscuits is costing the consumer just over 15˝ p.
When the packet is opened, each biscuit is wrapped in an attractive gold foil wrapper, and presented...
