My Body Shop
Review of The Body Shop (Shop) by
amyloop
Advantages: Love it
Disadvantages: Price.
...This is a review on a company that I have loved and respected since the age of around 10.
When I was younger, I was looked after a lot by an auntie who was a big animal rights campaigner and due to me looking up to her so much, I not only learnt a lot about different products and companies and methods of animal testing but I also managed to acquire come beliefs which I still hold.
When I was about 12 years old I wrote a really beautiful email to the body shop HQ telling them about my auntie and thanking them for backing the no animal testing belief, and for never testing any of their products on animals. I told them how nice it was that when customers go into their shop they do not have to look on the back of the item to see if it's tested on animals or not, it is a company policy and people can stick to their beliefs by shopping...

Butter me up with Body Shop
Review of The Body Shop Shea Body Butter by
brittle1906
Advantages: Does what it promises to do.
Disadvantages: Scent may not suit everyone
...BODY SHOP Shea Body Butter
I have been a fan of Body Shop products for many years now and was delighted when a branch opened in my home town. I had read about the softening effect of shea butter and was pleased to see a range in Body Shop so decided to try it.
Body Shop products are untested on animals and the Shea butter range is part of their 'Community Trade' scheme, An association of around 400 women from 10 villages, Body Shop ensure they are paid a fair price for their shea beans. Since trading with The Body Shop the women have been able to dramatically change their lives with water pipes and wells, better housing, medical care, food, and self esteem. Importantly, they are also able to give their children the chance to go to school. Since 1995, The Body Shop has been buying cocoa beans from the Kuapa Kokoo company...

Malibu vs Mango, M-J bites back at The Body Shop
Review of The Body Shop Mango Body Scrub by
Malibu_jenny
Advantages: Comes in a nice screw top pot....?
Disadvantages: Scratchy, Sticky, Smells Foul And Is Mostly Oil.
...Most men are not avid present buyers and Dad, Little Brother and The Boyfriend are no exception. Last Christmas, I gave into pressure to make a list and duly listed everything I could possibly want.
Irritatingly, with Christmas and Birthday lists, your mind often goes blank at the crucial moment and you have to scrabble around to think of things you'd like. In the bathroom, I looked longingly at my make up and realised that there was no way I'd receive the right shade. Instead, I would be left with a cheaper alternative or the 'nearest' colour to neon orange. I needed something fool proof. At this point I stumbled across my Body Shop Body Butter and decided that it would be lovely to have the matching scrub.
The Boyfriend got the present right and The Body Shop got it very, very wrong...

Body Shop Mango Body Butter
Review of The Body Shop Mango Body Butter by
yazoo88
Advantages: Gorgeous smell, really soft
Disadvantages: Takes a while to soak in
...I bought the Mango Body Butter at a Body Shop party. I'd seen them in the body shop before but never bought one after thinking they seemed a bit overpriced…but we all got a bit carried away buying things, plus it was my friend hosting her first Body Shop party so I wanted her to feel like she'd done well!
At the party a strawberry sample of the butter had been passed around. It was far too sweet for my liking, but I really liked the texture and decided to buy one in another flavour. I chose Mango as I usually go for fruity, refreshing body lotions. It was £10 for a 200ml tub.
Packaging
The body butter arrived about a week later. I really liked the packaging, it came in a big orange round pot, with a big picture of a mango on the top of the lid, with the body shop logo on the middle and 'Mango Body Butter' written in white...

The Body Shop Rediscovered…….at a bargain price!
Review of The Body Shop (Shop) by
psychstudent1
Advantages: Big discounts
Disadvantages: Temptation to overspend!
...Before I begin, I must state that this is not a review of any particular Body Shop product. Nor is it a review of the company's business practices, policy on animal testing or community trade practices. These may be the subject of future reviews, but this is simply about a reacquaintance with an old friend!
Discovery
When I returned to the UK 6yrs ago, after 17yrs living in South Africa, I discovered The Body Shop! I was a devotee of their lovely, rich body lotions and butters as well as their exotic bath and shower gels, creams and oils. Then I discovered their wonderful range of aromatherapy and massage oils, shampoos and conditioners with unusual ingredients, indulgent fragrances to scent rooms and linen, luscious fruity lip balms….and the list goes on…..,
I am a very girly girl who adores perfume, bath and body goodies...

The Body Shop’s Shea Genius!
Review of The Body Shop Shea Body Butter by
funphobic2
Advantages: Works great, the smell
Disadvantages: the price
...Shea body butter is without a doubt my most favourite body shop product at The Body Shop. It is not your average moisturiser – the clue is in the title – it is more like butter that a moisturiser!
But why is it so good? Well, shea is an excellent intensive and natural moisturiser, produced in Northern Ghana, which feels gorgeous on the skin. It also contains coco-butter, and beeswax, which surprising is a good moisturiser for the skin!
It is also very easy to use. Because the body butter is so intensive, use only a small amount once or twice a week if you have normal/dry skin. For maximum effect, use after exfoliating (there is also a shea scrub in the range), to get rid of the dead skin cells so there is no barrier preventing the moisturiser from accessing the new skin. It will take a while to absorb because it is so thick...

The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter
Review of The Body Shop Strawberry Body Butter by
shemily
Advantages: Has a lovely aroma and feels great on the skin, good for dry areas
Disadvantages: Can be a little expensive
...I really like The Body Shop, and have used their products since I was a teenager. The Body Shop seems to have become rather expensive in recent years, so I have not shopped there as much, as I am on a reduced income since having my daughter eighteen months ago. I tend to buy items when there is a sale on, with products often half price (there is a sale at the moment). I have tried quite a few of the body butters, and they have all been really nice, usually with a lovely delicious, fruity fragrance and a thick, rich texture. The body butter costs £12.00 for a 200ml tub, which is quite expensive, but £6.00 for the same amount in the sale is good value, as it is very good quality.
The Strawberry Body Butter is packaged in a tub with a screw top lid, and is very thick and rich. It is absorbed well into the skin, and leaves a fresh...

To the Body Shop & Cinn-a-mon 'bout a spotty bum!
Review of The Body Shop Cinnamon & Nutmeg Exfoliating Body Wash by
emmaclaire
Advantages: Smells gorgeous, skin feels wonderful
Disadvantages: none
...boyfriend I decided to visit Lush and get a Buffy the Backside Slayer as I’ve heard wondrous things about it. After asking the (male) assistant and being told with a giggle that it was quite popular and therefore they didn’t have any, I left empty handed. On the last day of my visit, we happened to pop into the Body Shop in Barnsley to see what was left in the sale… and lo and behold, what have we here? The Body Shop Cinnamon and Nutmeg Exfoliating Body Wash for the bargainous price of £1.50? Quick sniff… mmm, yes I’ll have some of that. It’s a medium sized tube containing 150ml of product. The lid is black and sturdy and opens easily. The body wash itself is an orangey red colour with pale beige flecks in which must be the exfoliant.
So, I’ve paid my pennies and brought it home and it definitely deserves a little corner of Ciao...

The Body Shop Mango Body Butter
Review of The Body Shop Mango Body Butter by
shemily
Advantages: Smells delicious, very good moisturiser
Disadvantages: Can be expensive
...I have tried quite a few body butters and rich body lotions, from a variety of different shops, as I have very dry skin that requires a lot of moisturising. The range of body butters from The Body Shop are very good quality. They are quite expensive, retailing at £12.00 for a tub containing 200g, but they can often be found at a reduced price in the sale, usually half the normal price.
The mango body butter has a delicious fruity tropical fragrance, and really seems to smell of fresh mangos, and is great for the summer or to take on holiday. The body butters are available in a smaller size of 50g too, for £5.00, and these sizes are perfect for holidays, short breaks and if you just want to try it out.
I found that the body butter is very thick and feels rich and luxurious. It is easily applied to the skin and leaves it moisturised...

Get fruity with Body Shop's tub of love
Review of The Body Shop Mango Body Butter by
Tickly
Advantages: baby smoothe skin, smells delicious
Disadvantages: wee bit pricier than most moisturisers
...You may or may not have noticed (probably not ...) but it's been a few weeks since I last posted an op. The reason for this is after re-reading and editing some of my first op's, I thought the quality wasn't as good as it could be (Ciao forgive me for I have sinned ...) I took some time-out to read and learn a few things from you all and now I'm back!
I've decided to only write about products/services/issues I feel genuinely strongly about - whether it be love or hate.
<< Hurrah for the Body Shop ! >>
Today, it's love (tomorrow it could be something else but, whatever ..) and in particular for the Body Shop's Mango Body Butter. The Body Shop are emphatic about supporting smaller communities round the world by buying their ingredients from them for a fair price to help these communities help themselves out of poverty. They call...
