The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Shampoo
Review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Shampoo by
helensahl
Advantages: Leaves hair and scalp feeling thoroughly clean, soft and shiny hair.
Disadvantages: Initially quite a strong smell.
...For the last two years I have had problems using various hair care products. I already have intolerances to many foods and various household products. But went on to develop an intolerance to the hair care products I was using. I constantly had a very itchy scalp and my hair was not in very good condition.
On the reccomendation of my nutritionist, I decided to try the Body Shop Tea Tree Oil shampoo, initially buying the smallest bottle, to ensure it suited me.
SIZES AVAILABLE
The shampoo come in three sizes, small, medium 500ml and large 1000ml. (Although I have only been able to obtain the large size in the factory shop).
PACKAGING
As with all the Body Shop products it comes in a plain basic bottle, with a flip top lid. The usual label with ingredients, the Body Shop logo and instructions on use.
You do...

Stick to pure tea tree oil and save your face
Review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Facial Scrub by
cladach29
Advantages: Nice smell, nice packaging
Disadvantages: Poor exfoliator, expensive
...fresh and tingly after washing, I did not persist in using it as it did not improve my skin and if anything actually made it worse. I think there is some debate currently about whether exfoliation really benefits acne and whether in fact it doesn't just exacerbate the problem. I switched to simply using a regular moisturising facial wash and applying Body Shop pure tea tree oil to problem areas, and my skin improved quite quickly.
---Value for money---
A bit pricey given that there are other facial washes, including exfoliators, which are cheaper. Currently is priced at GBP 3-4.
---Availability---
In all Body Shop outlets (UK and Australia).
---Summary---
Not a particularly good product for me, and not great value for money; perhaps best enjoyed by those who regularly use exfoliating face washes and are looking to try...

Tea Tree Oil Face Mask: Terrific!!
Review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Face Mask by
louxlou1
Advantages: works wonders!!
Disadvantages: can't think of any!!
...My sister bought me The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil Face Mask for Christmas, and I admit that it was one of the most satisfying beauty products that I recieved this year. The 100ml pot, a squashed cylindrical shape, is peppermint green in colour with a black lid. The instructions for use can be found on the underside of the pot.
This clay-based face mask is designed for normal, oily or blemished skin. I have found that it works really well on my face because my skin is not the same all over, meaning that some parts are oily, another has blemishes, and the rest is normal. An improvement in my overall complexion can be seen immediately after I remove the mask.
The mask is easy to use (probably very similar to most face masks.) Just smooth onto your face and neck after cleansing (avoiding lip and eye area) and leave it for ten...

The amazing purifying properties of T-Tree!
Review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Facial Wash by
funkyfiend
Advantages: smooth, clear skin that feels and looks gooooood
Disadvantages: none, at £2.50 its totally spiffing!
...Tea Tree Oil has long been known to have amazing healing properties and has been found to be anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral. Australian Aboriginals used the leaves from the actual tree to treat cuts and skin infections by crushing the leaves and applying them to the affected area.
As a person with sensitive skin, not particularly prone to spots but you cant always stop them dammit, i have been looking for a face wash/cleanser that would suit me for a long time. And being a great believer in the beneficial properties of plants and natural products, i went to the Body Shop and came across this wonderful bottle of skin goodness.
Just massage it into wet/damp skin to foam it up then rinse away and it leaves your skin feeling fabulously clean and clear deep down and really smooth and a great base to put foundation on well...

Sparkydog writes a negative Body Shop op..
Review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Facial Scrub by
sparkydog
Advantages: Probably will fight spots, didn't use it enough to find out...
Disadvantages: ineffective exfoliation, rancid smell, doesn't foam well
...What's this? No surprise that sparkydog has finally cracked, reverted to type and gone back to writing a Body Shop product review, but a wholly negative review?
Well, I'm afraid so, though it might be useful to prove that I am not totally in love with all things Body Shop and don't mind criticising them when they come along with a stinker of a product- and never was a description more apt than "stinker" for a product than for this one!
It's not the distinctive scent of tea tree I object to. I actually bought this product because I've been very happy with the Tea Tree Oil Facial Wash in the same range- op will follow!
I wanted an exfoliant, which I find helpful to use once or twice a week- helps to keep the skin clear and when you get a good kind, you really can see a difference- the skin looks brighter and really clean, and all...

Desert Essence Face Wash
Review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Foam Face Wash by
MariaGL
Advantages: The right bit of moisturizing, and astringient qualities alike
Disadvantages: expensive -around$6- for 4fl.oz, but it lasts....
...I've been using this product now for about one year, and it's my steadfast face 'soap'. It's full name is: Thoroughly Clean FACE WASH with Tea Tree Oil and Awapuhi. The company name is actually Desert Essence. Anyway, I discovered it after finding my other, different product wasn't doing the trick anymore. For those of us who have combination skin, but, maybe a little oily at times, and have drier patches too - this is great. Do you ever have the immunity problem? Like when you wash your face with the same product, and, after a while it just doesn't work anymore? Like your skin has built up an immunity? This product will not do that. It refreshes every time. It's excellent in winter, because Tea Tree Oil is, in fact, an 'oil' - but it's also very refreshing in summer months when you need a truly refreshing, cleansed feeling,- tea tree...

Face fresh
Review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Facial Wash by
cherub3001
Advantages: soft skin, cleanser, no spots!
Disadvantages: none!
...I am 15 and am atcually very lucky in that unlike my older brother james, i dont have spots and i never have got many. I owe this fact to my religious use of the Body Shop's excellent tea tree oil facial wash!
I used to sit in the bathroom and watch my brother (now nearly 17) apply spot cleanser after spot cleanser on to his skin in the hope that one of them might do what they're supposed to. He would spend over £25 on designer products as well as trying other products that claim to get rid of spots. None of them worked until he tried using the Body Shop's tea tree oil. Seeing the effect it had on his skin made me start using it even before i had spots to ensure that i never did!
My theory has worked too! i was every morning with the facial wash and it does work. Very occasionally do i get the odd spot but after washing with tea...

Rub me up a tree
Review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Body Wash by
shazahmed
Advantages: leaves u feeling squeaky clean
Disadvantages: none
...When i walked into the body shop one day i was determined to sort out one problem. blemished skin. not only did i have a few blemishes on my face, i also had blemishes on my chest but especially on my back. the helpful assistant directed me towards the tea tree range where she showed me this body wash. different people have different opinions on the smell of tea tree oil, but personally i like it. it smells really clean and herbal. but this body wash has added lemon to reduce the smell of the tea tree.
before i used this body wash i obviously read the label and it said that it'd leave my skin feeling squeaky clean and totally refreshed. i felt a little pessimistic due to the comment because i thought no product could actually do that. most labels lie anyway so i stepped into the shower in that negative frame of mind. however after id...

Wow - The best face cleaner ever
Review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Foam Face Wash by
thisnamesux
Advantages: Spot free skin
Disadvantages: Prolonged use makes skin dry
...This face cleanser is the best on the market!
Tea tree oil is the best stuff for combatting spots. I used to use stuff like Clearasil etc... but then I found Tea Tree oil. Wow - combats spots like nothing else!!!
I'm 15 years old, and had trouble with spots, now I hardly get any! I also use it to clean my piercing (eyebrow) which is great!
The anti bacterial properties of it make it an excellent facial cleanser, and piercing cleanser (i also use hydrogen peroxide 6% aswell as tea tree oil on my eyebrow)
The only downer on this product is that prolonged usage of it makes your skin feel dry. But at least there are no spots ;)
The way I use it, is to squirt a load on a flannel, then scrub it into my skin, to remove all dirt and grime.
One bottle lasts about 6 - 10 weeks for me....

Cleaner face
Review of The Body Shop Tea Tree Oil Facial Scrub by
kellyv43
Advantages: exfoilates skin
Disadvantages: Doesn't smell nice, Doesn't foam
...As people will know from reading my previous opinions, I am a big fan of tea tree products for use on my face. I have tried and reviewed many of them here on ciao. This tea tree oil facial scrub is another one that I have tried. It is made by the body shop.
The tube that this tea tree oil facial scrub comes in , as with most body shop products, is quite simple. It is a clear plastic tube , which is filled with the dark green scrub, and it has a black label on the front which tells you what the product is. This tube contains 100ml of facial scrub and costs £4.50, which I think is quite expensive. There are others available in boots that are much cheaper.
This product has not been tested on animals. It is made for normal, oily or blemished skin.
The back of the bottle is where you will find a list of the ingredients...
