Swimming & Other Sports, London SE26
Review of The Bridge Leisure Centre by  tigswade

Advantages: Great range of facilities at good prices & good accessibility
Disadvantages: Maintenance could be better & they could respond to feedback more

...and that we can get a few more on here. THE BRIDGE LEISURE CENTRE: This is a local authority leisure centre, which I have used a great deal, managed by Parkwood Leisure. According to their website*, Parkwood Leisure are the third largest leisure management company working in the public sector and in 2005 delivered £30.9 Million of turnover. *www.leisure-centre.com LOCATION: The Bridge Leisure Centre is located on Kangley Bridge Road, which is just off Southend Lane (A2218), in Lower Sydenham, London SE26. PARKING: There is a reasonable sized car park, free for leisure centre customers, which is immediately in front of the centre itself. During the day this is fairly busy but, with room for 55 cars, there are usually spaces available. At peak times, it may be necessary to park either... Read review

Lewisham Leisure
Review of The Bridge Leisure Centre by  sarhackett

Advantages: Beautiful clean pool
Disadvantages: Awful changing facilities

...I am a frequent swimmer, which is great but in the borough of Lewisham can be difficult. The pools seem to over timetable themselves during the week so that obscure times are left for family or individual swimming, other times are filled with schools, lessons, ladies only, swimming clubs etc. The Bridge Leisure Centre is no exception to this and taking my two children swimming is a matter of checking the timetable daily and squeezing in an hour when the learner pool is free. Speaking of the learner pool it is of a good standard. One length of the pool is completely steps, which allow timid children to enter the pool with confidence and the water doesn't reach any more than 0.9m in depth. The pool is clean and seems to have a good range of swimming aids such as noodles and floats available to the general public. There doesnt appear... Read review

Delta Force Beechwood (Birmingham)
Review of Delta Force Paintball by  Smeep

Advantages: Great fun, Thrilling and Awesome.
Disadvantages: Expensive and game fields are small.

.... The only thing I don't agree with, is that this is all done in the safe zone with a marker loaded with a Co2 bottle but no hopper. It is however, possible to put a paintball in the to the gun, so it takes one forgetful person or one disgruntled person to mess something up and have someone's eye out. But hey, they know what they are doing. At some point during all of this they'll divide you in to teams with some different coloured tape that they put around your arms. You get assigned a marshall, who will take you to and from the fields, explain the rules and one more safety briefing. Then he and his fellow marshalls will referee the games for the day. You play six games in all, all with two halves of 10 minutes on average. - - - THE GAMES - - - The games we played were: The Bridge - A flag on the bridge in the middle to be captured... Read review

Bazel - Passau
Review of Continental Top Touring 2000 by  tgems

Advantages: Great to have a bike.
Disadvantages: Can be price if you want quality

...hills and gently swaying oceans of sunflowers. I can't believe it only costs me my legs. Koblenz : All the way here were small towns dotting the countryside - each one a unique gem to itself. EVery mile or so there were little "watering holes." Fresh Swiss mountian water trickled from an elaborately decorated brass mouth into a large stone trough. Each one had the date it was built, like a trophy. Flowers and delicate metal work illuminated each fountain. It was a delight to stop at each one ; even if just to get a mouthful of water ( or to dunk my whole head in! ) Back to Koblenz. There was a bridge over the Rhine to Waldshut in Germany. I chose to stay swiss!! I found a lovely cycle shop where I bought a great yellow / black cycle shirt and a side access water bottle holder for Tina, ( the lovely girl from the London story... The art of Lure fishing - a simple(ish) technique
Review of Artificial by  duck1979

Advantages: Easy to set up, all sorts of wierd & wonderful artificial lures to choose from, can last years
Disadvantages: Can be rather expensive, especially if you keep loosing them in the scenery

...about with just Rod / Reel / line / Swivel / box of lures / forceps / Sunglasses + a landing net and go exploring the River or Lake. When doing this, it's probably best to try and imagine you're a fish, and think "where would be a good place to hide and ambush my prey?" Things like Bridge supports, sunken tree branches or roots + Jetties / Boat landings / fishing platforms are often a good bet......... then cast as close to them as you dare without getting snagged up on something, and don't stick to casting out straight in front of you...... try casting right over to your far left, then slightly further to the right each subsequent cast until you've come round in an arc, that way you'll cover more area. Once you've mastered the humble spinner, you can then start expanding your collection to include Plugs..... which are made of Balsa Wood... Read review

The folding london experience
Review of Continental Top Touring 2000 Foldable by  tgems

Advantages: The fold
Disadvantages: A bit heavy

...with digital camcorders and excited children. Trafalgar Square was easily navigated by our beasts and it was only a shame that feeding the pigeons is now banned in the square as apparantly they breed disease. ( Remember - " Feed the birds, tuppance a bag!!!" ) Over Waterloo Bridge brought us to the London Eye. You can see for miles, the only snag was the 16 quid a piece. The long strech of pedestrian walkway down the Thames to The Houses of Parliament was extremely nice and Big Ben boomed out his presence every hour or so!! The bikes brought us safely round for several days and once my grandfather returned from his sailing trip I heard only a waves of praise. I highly reccomend to any one that these are a good investment, whether just for a little potter along to the shops or for some medium distance traveling, ie to work and back... Read review

Don't mock my Crocs
Review of Crocs Cayman Shoes by  korova_blue

Advantages: Easy to clean, comfortable
Disadvantages: Quite expensive for what they are

...' Crocs in Asda, and they feel quite different to the 'genuine' article. Mine were made in China, though I understand they are made in several different countries. Trying them on I was expecting to be blown away with the comfort. This was not the case, well not at first. They feel like you would imagine plastic shoes to feel when first put on - but as they warm to body temperature they start to become more and more comfortable. I walked about two miles in them and apart from some slight chafing to the bridge of one of my feet they were fine. I used to my feet being cut to shreds everytime I have new sandals (even Clarkes' ones) so I was pretty pleased with this. I was expecting the rear retaining bar to chafe, but in reality you can barely even notice it. It just produces a reassuring fit that prevents 'claw toes' that you may have... Read review

The only dive computer you will ever need
Review of Delta P Technology VR3 by  wreckferret

Advantages: Does the lot.
Disadvantages: Not a lot.

...in for it’s service... My VR3 even copes with all the drool that people persist in leaving on it after handling! DEVELOPMENT I think it ought to be mentioned, though, that this is, in effect, a version 2. Kev brought out his original VR3 some time ago, which went through several evolutions before this design became his latest progeny. It is only through the support and interaction with one’s customers that service or products can be improved. Delta P’s appeared to have done it. The new VR3, like its predecessor, also has the CCR O2 sensor port option, which I intend to look at in the future. I know of many CCR divers have asked for computer integration with rebreathers and this one neatly bridges the gap. The computer, in effect, will be able to sense what you’re breathing. This makes its decompression calculations that bit more precise... Read review

Fitness First Gyms
Review of Fitness First, Bow Warf, London by  Zedex

Advantages: Affordable, convenient, good machines, good entertainment (TV/Music) while exercising, good facilities
Disadvantages: Some staff a bit apathetic, does get very busy at times

...Staff (mainly admin staff/front desk staff are a bit nonchalant at my London Bridge branch. They seem much nicer though at Chancery Lane/Bow Wharf so it may just be this branch. Don't like the hard sell aspect - they should have a list of prices you can obtain without hassle.... Read review

Fly into the Danger Zone!
Review of Danger Zone (Sheffield) by  baalzamon

Advantages: Reasonably priced, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Paintballs hurt!

...of variations on the same theme. Most commonly, opposing teams will try to capture a flag from one another's base or from a neutral area, and return it to their own base or transport it to some other designated area. On the day I went, we started by attempting to capture flags from each others bases and return them to our own base. The second capture the flag game we played involved capturing a flag from the middle of the game area (a different field, this time) and delivering it safely into the enemy base. Later on we played a third variation where the flag was positioned in the middle of a bridge over a "mine field" (I walked across it after I'd been shot and my retention of both legs leaves me fairly sure that this was a mine field in name only). ******************************************************************** UPDATE: On my second...
