...thought hot chocolate was meant to be made out from cocoa powder, it was nice having a hot chocolaty drink while watching TV or surfing the net so my fingers won't shake while typing! Anyway . . . I had butlers hot chocolate drink as a Christmas gift from my uncle who lives in Ireland and is married to a lovely Irish lady. It had arrived to me as a parcel with a Christmas card inscribed with one word only . . . ENJOY! It may sound lame but to be honest I was gutted to receive such a gift, I was expecting more! However, I had a look and I was surprised to learn that it was supposed to be drunk not eaten! I never heard of this brand and never knew that hot chocolate can come in pieces! Butlers Hot Chocolate Drink

Advantages: Attractive packaging, attractive price point, simple to make.
Disadvantages: Not chocolatey enough!!

...Firstly, I would like to point out that although this product comes under the category of "Cocoa (Instant)", it is not cocoa - it is Hot Chocolate! That means that it is a drink made with "real" chocolate, not with cocoa powder. I have mixed feelings about Butlers chocolates in general - I have tasted many of their products, and I love some of them, and am not so keen on others. So, it was with interest that I tried this new product. It has only just become available here in Ireland, I am not sure you can buy it in the UK as yet. First things first - the box itself is very attractive. It is a rich chocolatey brown colour with the Butlers logo in gold, and a photo of a pair of hands holding a teacup with a delicious looking chocolate drink in the cup, and a piece of the chocolate that you find inside dropping into the drink...

Richard Butler - Richard Butler

Advantages: mature, inventive, beautiful and emotional
Disadvantages: really can't think of any!

...Richard Butler is best known as the charismatic rasping voiced singer in the Psychedelic Furs. After 25 years fronting the band this is his first solo album, and those expecting simply inferior Furs tracks are in for a wonderful surprise. All the songs are co-written with Jon Carin (often a member of Pink Floyd over the past 20 years or so) and all, without exception, are beautifully constructed, grown up, mature songs. Smooth keyboards and rythmn tracks slightly disguise extremely clever songwriting and some devastatingly heartbreaking lyrics. Both men lost their fathers during the prolonged making of this album and a sense of personal loss and longing permeates the album. But there is also hope and light at the end of the tunnel and despite the occasional depressing lyric this is not a doomy album in any way. Every song leaves...

...BUTLER BHO3010 PURCHASED 30TH JUNE 2006 I connected the hob to the mains and found that it did not heat up I wasnt aware that you had to connect up 3 links to make the unit work Somebody came and fixed it for £40.00 as it was not a warranty job The hob worked well up til March 2008 and then one of the touch circuit boards stopped working. I contacted the main contractor for repairs who said that I had to pay £69.99 call charge which was taken from my credit card there and then.An engineer called and said that a circuit board had gone down and it would cost £110.00 for the part. The repair was done and I was £180.00 out of pocket. I wrote to the Managing Director of Butlers at Maidstone but NEVER received any sort of reply. I sent them an email on yheir web site again with no reply. On boxing day 2008 the hob went again...

Advantages: Great guitars, high level of musicianship

...I first heard John Butler when I was in a record shop in Perth (that?s Oz, not Scotland) and asked for some cool local grooves. JBT was the first thing the assistant played and I can still remember the moment: I wet gangbusters on him, as they say Down Under. Since then I?ve bought all his albums, travelled to London (and Manchester) to see him and all in all been a bit of a fan. Although this new album is not as immediately brilliant as the last album, ?Sunrise over sea?, it?s still JBT and he can do no wrong. John Butler Trio Sunrise Over Sea

Advantages: Clever, moving, melodic, brilliant, like nothing else
Disadvantages: Loves his guitar playing a little too much, bangs on about the Earth a lot

...This is one of my favourite albums ever and anyone who likes music should have a copy in their collection. Butler is a Californian who's lived in Australia all his life - I think he lives in Queensland and the song title refers to the view off his verandah. He plays a mix of rock, folk and blues, lifted far above the average by his technically accomplished guitar playing. Standout track is "Peaches and cream", written about his daughter but applicable to anyone who's found true love. It helped me thorough a difficult time in my life and the first time I saw him live and heard the whole crowd (all Ozzies - I saw him in London and there were no bar staff working that night!) - sing all the words, it sent a shiver down my spine. Lyrically, "Peaches" is about a man finding that his life is complete through love but its lyric - "For so long...

Whodunnit? The butler?

Advantages: Great story, very entertaining
Disadvantages: Too many big names

...individual DVDs from this series have extras either. On the whole, this is a reasonable adaptation, and I don't have anything major to criticise. At the same time, it didn't grab me as much as it could have. I do think that it was a mistake to put so many big names in it - I think this was unnecessarily distracting. And by the way, I haven't given anything away with the title - there isn't a butler involved. If you're a big Marple fan, then it is definitely a must-see. If not, then it is probably worth waiting to see it on television - it is often re-shown on ITV3. Recommended, with reservations. The DVD is available from Amazon for £9.79.
