There are also advanced sound editor facilities which enable you to chop up sound files. Unless you using your PC to make professional commercial recordings, or require top notch advanced effects/processing, you don't need Adobe Audition/ Cool Edit or Wavelab. Total Recorder will cover all your needs adequately. If you want to commit your favourite web concerts to CD, or record internet radio overnight to play back later on an mp3 player, Total Recorder is well worth the $12, or £35 for the Pro version. ...whether all finalised discs are compatible. Currently the computer market seems swayed to this format but mainly for data and personal use and it offers NO advantage over DVD+R. Blank discs are currently cheaper to buy than DVD+R. DVD RAM - Supported by Panasonic and is a completely different idea. A DVD cartridge disc is used and is removable. Stores more information than normal DVD video. Very brave move by Panasonic as this is not the standard CD/DVD format and will only play on other similar Panasonic DVD-RAM recorders. At about £400 for the basic machine, you must have cash to splash for want or afford this. Recording times? On DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW you can get about 2 hours superb quality on a disc or 4 hours good quality. Even the latter is far superior to cassette. Well yes it is, but to my knowledge Record Collector has absolutely nothing to do with them. Well, I suppose it could be named after the popular musical journal, but that's neither here nor there. The important thing is, Record Collector is a small independent music shop in the heart of Sheffield. Based on Fulwood Road in the Broomhill area of Sheffield, it's made up of two shops – the main shop on the left, and the vinyl shop on the right. They're all part of the same unit really, but the main shop is sort of an L shape (with the base of the L at the back of the store), and the vinyl shop makes up the gap in the L, completing the rectangular shape. ...I have had this product for almost 2 years now and I can honestly say that I couldn't live without it now! Ease of Use The set-up is pretty self-explanatory but if in doubt the manual is very helpful. Once all set up it's relatively easy to use. Channel surfing is as you would expect, but there is also an electronic program guide which you can access by the cleverly named "guide" button on the remote! Setting programs to record is easy too, however I found that when setting several programs to record in one go a little tiresome as you have to go through several screens, the interface could have been a little smoother. Again, to play what you've recorded it's easy peasy. There's a library button marked on the remote which makes it virtually foolproof to access, particularly for people like my Mum who is a little nervous around... Read review
