It's finally here, the fourth instalment of the Indian Jones series which we have waited 19 years for is finally here and the verdicts are in, but is it any good or not? I went to see this at the cinema this weekend with three others, one of which had never seen an Indian Jones film before (how is that possible?) but we talked her into it. I am a big fan of the films and first saw them as a child but have watched them over and over again through the years (generally when they are on the tele over Christmas) so I was hoping that this one was going to be as good. I read a lot of the critic's reviews before seeing it which in general weren't that complimentary but kept an open mind going into it. ...Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. Indiana is back and he looks great. We follow, as usual, Indie in yet another breathtaking adventure. This time Indie is at area 51 with his friend ?Mac? George McHale. However they are not there under their own steam they have been kidnapped by the Russians and are being used to find a very specific item for their kidnappers. Indie manages to escape but then has to survive an Atomic explosion! He does this in style and the special effects here are amazing. Later he will team up his ex girlfriend, Marion and even find out he has a son, Mutt. Together they will team up and take on the Soviets in the chase for the secret of the Crystal Skull. The adventure will take them through hill and dale ending in the jungle. Along the way are spectacular stunts...

...V.C.Andrews is a very famous author known primarily for her books The 'Dollanganger Family' one of which is titled flowers in the attic. Most of the books under her name come in fives. Four separate stories which somehow wind together to create a fifth. Crystal is no exception and it is the second instalment to the 'Orphans Miniseries'. The others are known as Butterfly, Brooke, Raven and finally Runaways. Now before I go further I have to break a few hearts. Even though V.C.Andrew is famous for many a book she has personally penned few herself. She did write the whole Dollanganger family series just as she wrote half the Casteel family series and My Sweet Audrina. What were they thinking with the Ending????????????

Advantages: Good story to start, good acting
Disadvantages: Awful ending which was so far fetched

...Now I thought something was up when hubby said I could pick which film we watch! I was given the choice between this one and Spiderman only to later discover we would be watching the other film straight after this one! This film see the return of Harrison Ford in the ever popular role of Indiana Jones. At the start of the film we see the Russians breaking into Area 57 where they kidnap Indiana and make him find the special metal case with mummified remains in. He soon discovers that an old friend of his, played by Ray Winstone is helping them. They are searching for the Crystal Skull. Indiana manages to escape from them but they have gotten away with the metal case with the remains in. Indiana is questioned by the FBI over what happened and they do not quite believe his innocence and he is later suspended from his teaching job...

...Let's get one thing straight from the start. I'm a huge fan of Indiana Jones. Always have been. I think the original trilogy of Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, and the Last Crusade are cinematic genius. That hat, that music, Harrison Ford...love it all. For years there were rumours of an "Indy IV". Scripts came and went, everyone seemed to be on board but it was all about finding the right script. Then one day, they had it. And the hype began. I was very excited, devouring Empire every month to see what news there was. Finally, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was released...and reactions were mixed, It was reported to be "definitely Indy" but also there was something not right.
