Reviews of the daily telegraph
The Daily Torygraph. Or not as the case may be.
Review of The Telegraph by
mrclarke001
Advantages: A leading quality broadsheet. Columnists are excellent.
Disadvantages: Business not as good as The Times. Has dumbed down a little.
...The Daily Telegraph is commonly nicknamed the "Torygraph" on account of its seemingly infallible support for the Conservative Party. As a Telegraph reader, I do not believe that this is the case, and before others dismiss the Telegraph I ask you to consider this:
The Daily Telegraph has more student readers than The Guardian.
Students are generally regarded as being left-wing. Even Editor of the Daily Mail Paul Dacre has admitted that he had a "left-wing phase" in his youth, and all political constituencies across the countries generally Labour leading.
Hence why is it that the Telegraph does so well? This is because its coverage of news and comment is outstanding and objective - The Times is said to be Britain's newspaper of record, but the Daily Telegraph surely has a better claim to this title. Apart from the FT...

The Telegraph - A Good Read
Review of The Telegraph by
ashford
Advantages: Good writing. Wide coverage of important topics.
Disadvantages: Strongly held views.
...There was a time when no self-respecting "liberal" would be seen dead reading the Daily Telegraph which was widely regarded as the newspaper for right wingers who still believed Britain should have kept its Empire.
Such a stereotype is no longer valid,assuming it ever was.
The Telegraph today is a superbly produced daily with an attractive layout,high standards of journalism and is a really good read.
OK many of its writers have strongly held views which you may vehemently diasgree with but they are not wishy-washy. Its coverage of domestic affairs,including the likes of sport,science,technology,education and politics,is very good and its editorial space given over to international affairs is , I feel, just about adequate.
The standard of writing on The Telegraph is very high and their proof reading seems...

Sudoku Loco! :o)
Review of The Daily Telegraph Sudoku (PC CD) by
Handbags_at_the_ready
Advantages: Sudoku at your fingertips!
Disadvantages: Its addcitive and a bit annoying you can't scribble notes like you can in the newspaper!
.... I enjoyed it, and because i like a bit of variety i decided to buy another, and so into my letterbox (i bought it off Play.com for £6.99) landed the "Daily Telegraph Sudoku PC CD. If you want to know what it looks like look at the picture at the top of the page its better than if i try and describe it.
So as you know i have 2 Sudoko Games on my laptop so i can do a bit of comparing between the two and see some advantages and disadvantages so i'll now get down to my proper review!!!
~~~
What does it say it has?
www.telegraph.co.uk
Review of The Telegraph by
Mick1293
Advantages: Up to date, In depth, Everything you want!
Disadvantages:
...I woke up this morning and decided to go and get the Telegraph to read up on the sport from yesterday. But while in my current economising mode, trying not to spend a penny unnecessarily, I decided to look at the electronic telegraph at www.telegraph.co.uk.
The site is superb. The news stories are entirely up to date. To be honest I only looked at the sport but the stories were in depth articles telling you everything you wanted to know. The statistics of results, scorers, teams, bookings and the referee were tremendous.
Unfortunately though the telegraph just lost itself a sale this morning, but I dare say it will still receive lots of advertising money from the sponsors on the site.
In contrast, I then looked at the times website – which had not been updated from yesterday which to me, underlines the fact...
Review of The Telegraph subscription service by
al1892
Advantages: Cheaper papers, quality read, no scrabbling round for change.
Disadvantages: Not all newsagents accept the vouchers.
...This review is about The Telegraph and more particularly its subscription service. The essence of this service is that regular readers of The Telegraph newspaper can make significant savings on their paper bill by taking out a subscription with them for the year.
I am writing this review as I have had a subscription with them for the last few years and cannot fault it. Whilst trying to research it for the review I searched on The Telegraph website but could find no reference to the service whatsoever. It does mention the weekly telegraph but not daily. Subsequently I have come to shed some light on it and hopefully let some people in on the 'secret'.
Firstly The Telegraph itself - you don't want to be subscribing blind now do you! Obviously if you are reading this review as a current Telegraph reader, just skip to the section...
WHY DO SOME CALL IT THE TORYGRAPH
Review of The Telegraph by
polarbear
Advantages: Usually a good read. I LOVE the crosswords
Disadvantages: Can be a little unwieldy to read in public places
...Under this heading I wrote an opinion about an article in the Telegraph,I should not have been SO SPECIFIC. I should have written about THE TELEGRAPH
So here goes a REAL opinion on the TELEGRAPH!
What do we expect from a Newspaper? What do we want from a Newspaper? Obviously the answers to these questions will be very personal.
Most types of Newspapers will give us the News Headlines probably with a Left or Rightwing slant but the main difference between newspapers will be the quality of the articles inside the front covers
.
If you want salacious, titillating gossip then you must go for the comic variety, and this is what many of us want in our daily read. Some of these articles can be quite entertaining, but this is something we must remember that they are basically written to entertain the reader and NOT to inform...
Sudoku PC CD game
Review of The Daily Telegraph Sudoku (PC CD) by
dingoo
Advantages: easy to set-up, cheap price, addictive, challenging
Disadvantages: Very hard, could stress you a little
...I bought the telegraph sudoku game from Amazon last week for £6.99.
This is an amazingly addictive game a bit like a crossword with numbers, it is quite hard and you can play it in various forms either in books like crossword books or like I prefer on the PC.
The PC Cd game is easy and quick to setup just as normal games fom CD, it runs on Windows 98, Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows 2000 so covers most modern PC platforms.
You dont need much space to store the game at least 200MB of storage and your PC need not be fast to play the game, also graphics cards are not a must this game is indeed quite basic.
The CD has 2,000 graded puzzles 500 easy, 500 moderates, and 500 hard and 500 extremely hard.
I must say I have been playing this for months in books and now here on the PC and I cant for the life of me complete...
News, cartoons and chocolates
Review of telegraph.co.uk by
BigMacMan
Advantages: Free
Disadvantages: Is Middle Wallop a city?
...Why bother to buy a national daily newspaper if you have internet access and have the whole thing for free? Well, if you’re at work and taking a 15-minute break, it’s one way of keeping up with the rest of the world in the time-honoured way. Similarly you can read it over breakfast, lunch, on the bus or the tube, as one does, and either leave it behind for someone else to read, or be environmentally friendly and take a walk to the paper bank when you’ve finished with it. Granted, if given the choice of reading a ‘paper’ newspaper instead of off the screen, a number of us would opt for the first.
But let’s suppose you’d rather hang on to your 50p (the current Daily Telegraph’ price per issue) and access it online instead. Assuming you are on flat rate (or having a peek at work), what are you getting?
Despite its rather staid image...
What will the fascists read now
Review of The Telegraph by
Amadahn
Advantages: Intelligent; literate;
Disadvantages: Ragingly xenophobic piece of fascist propaganda
...The Daily Telegraph has always been a wonderful newspaper for those who want to keep Britain great, lock up all communists and homosexuals, and give Johnny Foreigner a good seeing-to. To say that the Telegraph is right-wing is like saying that 'Hamlet' is an 'ok' play, or that Bill Gates is 'reasonably well off.' In fact, in its political stance, it has always been 'slightly to the right of Attila the Hun' (in the words of Tim Rice). However, it seems that this entrenched conservatism may be in the process of changing.
This can only be a bad thing. How, for example, will we refer to that section of the populace now designated as 'Daily Telegraph Readers'? Crazed-Fascist-Fox-Hunting-Xenophobes doesn't have quite the same ring to it. Where now will we left-wing commie rascals find new things to object to? There's always the Daily...
