A dark story
Review of A Dark, Dark Tale - Ruth Brown by  mumsymary

Advantages: kids love it
Disadvantages: ?

...A dark, dark tale, Dratt Trisca got her review in first after I requested this category oh well never mind , here we go . Let me tell you about A dark, dark tale Written and illustrated by Ruth brown published first by Random house children’s books in 1981 then by red fox in 1992. This book retails for £8.99 This book is available in English and Somali You could start reading this book to your child at about the age of 2 and a child of 5 –6 should be able to read it alone. I think it is just about key stage 2 . This book is a paperback 21cmx26cm 29 pages long. On the cover we see a circle a window into the book a black cat is staring out of it at you the scene behind the cat is of a castle surrounded by mist with a full moon behind it. The picture makes you think the book is spooky it entices you in, so open... Read review

DMX is HOT and DARK from HELL!
Review of It's Dark And Hell Is Hot [PA] - DMX by  DJ_primo

Advantages: DMX's RUFF RYDERS ANTHEM / superb lyrics, amazing DARK production, gritty flow - BITES!
Disadvantages: DMX's lyrics can be X-plicit and frightening for young children - SO WATCH OUT, GRRR!

...*************************************************************************** * THE RUFF RYDERS ALBUMS: IT'S DARK AND HELL IS HOT The DMX Album Collection - Part I Author: DJprimo *********************************************************************** ***** INTRODUCTION Emerging in the late 1990s, was DMX ( real name: Earl Simmons ), a hardcore rapper who presented a style, quite unique to the modern era of hardcore Hip Hop. His style combines anger, emotions, DOG sounds (e.g. GRRR, BARKS etc.), creativity, innovative lyrics and grittiness to bring out an artist with a DARK, fearsome image. For this reason, some Hip Hop fans have sometimes dubbed DMX as the Dark Man X. My interests in DMX date back to 2000, when I first watched him collaborate with Aaliyah on 'Come back in one piece... Fear is the path to the Dark Side. ...
Review of The Dark Side by  tange

Advantages: Good tasty porter with a stout-like quality.
Disadvantages: Harder to find than some beers.

...We have just recovered from setting up and working at Chesterfield Beer Festival ~ the 6th Annual Festival run by the branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) that I belong to. It is hard work, but also great fun, because we get to source, order, buy and sell beers from breweries all over the country. This year our theme was Local Beers for Local Folk so, although not as widespread, the beer ordering put us in contact with some small interesting beers from small interesting breweries. I tend to be a fan of dark beers so when choosing beers off of the list at a Beer Festival I look at the dark beers first and then try some of the others. This year I started with some Oatmeal Stouts and then moved on to a beer that sounded right up my street ~ Dark Side from the Boggart Hole Clough Brewing Company. ~~~THE BREWERY. Boggart Hole... The Dark isn`t Really Scary.
Review of The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark - Jill Tomlinson by  spottydog2

Advantages: Features a cute baby owl named Plop.
Disadvantages: None really.

...Whilst I am on a run of reviewing children`s books, this one is suitable for primary school children, I would say late infants early juniors. The story is based around a cute baby owl who is afraid of the dark. He sets out to find out why he shouldn`t be scared and ends up saying that it is super. The Book. * * * * * * * * The book is entitled `The Owl who was afraid of the Dark` and is by Jill Tomlinson. It is a paperback book though the cover is slightly stiff, costing £5.99. The book is illustrated by Paul Howard and as quoted by Practical Parenting it has `lovely illlustrations....great for calming night-time fears`. The illustrations are lovely, not only of the featured owls, but the things that Plop speaks to and the night sky. The drawings are all a bit on the dark side as the story is based around the night... Read review

Perfect, even in the Dark . . .
Review of Perfect Dark (N64) by  natthehat

Advantages: Can't list them all here, see review for all of them, tons of modes, bots, levels, EVERYTHING!
Disadvantages: need Expansion Pak, Joanna Dark is not as good an agent as Bond.

...It is without question that the hype surrounding Rare's Perfect Dark is the blood of the gaming industry. How fitting that the Nintendo 64 would gain it's most prized jewel so late in the systems life. But let's not fool ourselves here. Nintendo has always pulled out all the stops at the last second. And doesn't it seem interesting that now, so late in the game, Nintendo has the upper hand on the competition? Think about it. The N64 is priced at the extremely low price of £80 or less. They have a huge library of games, dozens of red hot titles in production, and now... the greatest game ever created, Perfect Dark. I have played Goldeneye nearly every day since it's release. The multiplayer experience is the best that any console has to offer. I laid my 007 cartridge to rest the night before Perfect Dark's release. With a whopping game... Read review

Childe Roland to the Dark Tower Came
Review of The Dark Tower Collection - Stephen King by  dididave

Advantages: A synopsis of the greatest series of books I have ever read!
Disadvantages: The longest review of all time.

...Hello there my ciao friends. I am going to warn you now this review is going to be long. To do an overview of such an epic set of books any justice it must be. These books are the pride and joy of my collection so I feel an urge to share my ramblings with you. So, Stephen King eh. "I won't read anything by him because he only writes dodgy horror novels." A common misconception is that King is a horror writer. However, those who know anything about him know the man is capable of writing in a variety of fields. Although, predominantly known for books such as "The Shining" and "Carrie" due to the hugely successful films, an increasing number have been following his Dark Tower series myself included. The Dark Tower series consists of seven books all of varying lengths and scope. King got the idea to write this series of novels... Read review

DNAngel - DVD Volume 1 - Dawn of Dark
Review of DNAngel - The Dawn Of Dark (Animated) by  Mayoki

Advantages: Very crisp animation, great opening theme tune
Disadvantages: English voice acting,

...Synopsis Daisuke Niwa is your average boy…whose mother just happens to lay dangerous traps around the house. The poor boy can't even open the fridge without having a mace or something swing out at him! There is a reason for her madness, however, as Daisuke finds out on his 14th birthday…his DNA is infused with that of the legendary thief Dark Mousey! Dark is bound to male members of the Niwa family, though as Daisuke's grandfather only had a girl he skipped a generation (girls can't become the phantom thief). Dark steals artwork, and unfortunately for Daisuke, this means that now he does too! All of that training his mother and grandfather put him through was leading up to this. Dark literally takes over Daisuke's body, and can often be heard as a voice, arguing or teasing Daisuke when he's inactive. He becomes active... Read review

The name's Dark, Joanna Dark
Review of Perfect Dark (N64) by  Xeon007

Advantages: Excellent graphics and sound, brilliant gameplay, awesome multiplayer
Disadvantages: Need Expansion pak, low frame rate in some multiplayer matches with many players, dodgy plot

...Perfect Dark belongs to the elite group of top five games on the N64 that must be owned (the other four being GoldenEye 007, Super Mario 64, Zelda and WWF No Mercy). It is Rare's semi-sequel to GoldenEye and most N64 owners should know what Perfect Dark is all about and how good it is. For those of you who don't, or are just interested, here's it is. Perfect Dark is a First Person Shooter (FPS) with your character being Joanna Dark, a sort of secret agent/spy. You must control her and investigate the DataDyne Corporation. Sounds simple, plays like a dream. There are 17 solo missions and 4 extra levels that become unlocked as you complete the game on various difficulties (Agent, Special Agent and Perfect Agent). I have complete the game on two of the difficulties and have to admit to be impressed. There is a great learning... Read review

Dark horse or dark hoarse
Review of Dark Horse - George Harrison by  JOHNV

Advantages: Tracks 1, 3, 6 and (with reservations) 7
Disadvantages: Tracks 4 and 9

...George Harrison, 'the quiet one' of the Beatles, has recently been in the news for none-too-happy reasons. Time, I thought, to go back into my record collection and refresh myself on one or two of his albums I hadn't listened to properly for a while. 'Dark Horse' was first released in December 1974. Critics had expected the world from him after the high point on which he started his solo career, notably the 1971 Bangla Desh benefit gig, and failure to come up to expectations, plus his outspoken religious beliefs, brought the knives out. This was greeted with a univeral thumbs-down, especially in Britain, and apart from various experimental Beatles-connected projects issued in the late 60s, it was the first solo set by an ex-member to miss the UK chart completely, remarkable given that his previous album had peaked at No. 2 18... Mild Drinkers Do it in the Dark!
Review of Highgate Dark Mild by  tange

Advantages: A tasty mild ale ~ and ours was FREE!
Disadvantages: Not easy to find in some areas of the country.

...Last Friday evening our local branch of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) trooped off on a social evening to Highgate Brewery. We were to have a tour of the building, a look at the brewing process and (most importantly) SOME BEER! The tour cost us the princely sum of £3.00 and for that we had a guide to show us round in groups and unlimited beer during the three hours we spent there ~ BARGAIN! They had three of their cask beers on (plus a couple of keg ones that were hideous) and we tried all of them. The best thing was that they didn’t limit what we had ~ in fact, at one point the bloke doing the tour noticed my glass was getting a little on the empty side and ran off to get me another one! My favourite beer of the evening was Highgate Dark Mild ~ they were all tasty, but this one was really nice and I thought it would be nice... Read review
