...With the release of their first album in 1967, the Doors burst upon the American music scene with a sound that was unique and unlike anything the world had heard before. This sound was the product of the various musical influences on the individual members of this band. Ray Manzarek was a classically trained pianist; Robbie Krieger was a classical and flamenco guitar student; John Densmore idolized the great jazz drummers; and Jim Morrison had no musical training at all--his forte was poetry and a fine hand for turning a lyric. The band didn't have a bass guitarist; in studio sessions they hired one, and in concerts Manzarek played keyboard bass. ...Before you say "oh no, not another Best Of The Doors album, that's it, I'm off down the pub", please bear two things in mind (1) not everyone will have heard of them and (2) order me one in when you get there will you? I'll be down in a minute when I've finished writing this, and I'll thrash you on the snooker table as well. ...The Best of the Doors I am a huge fan of The Doors and their music is timeless, so I was really pleased when my son bought my partner the C.D The Best of the Doors. I like all the tracks on it and usually blast it out whilst doing the housework. He should have bought it me but we share everything. The members of the band are. Ray Manzarek, John Densmore, Robby Krieger and the legendary Jim Morrison. All of the members of the band attended UCLA and as the story goes Jim Morrison bumped into Ray Manzarek whilst walking along Venice Beach. ...Even though The Doors have been defunct as an active musical entity for for than thirty years, they remain one of my favorite groups. When the mood strikes me, which is often, I'll go to my CD rack and pull out one of their albums and play it, always at full volume. I guess that my abiding love of the music of The Doors stems from the fact that they might be the ultimate fusion group of all time. Although the term "fusion" is a relatively new word in my musical glossary, The Doors are probably one of the first and most pristine fusion groups of all time. Ray Manzarek, the keyboardist of the group, had classical training as a child, and he melded those influences with the blues, pop and psychedelia to produce a sound that's been described at various times as carnivalesque, haunting and downright gritty. ...Pine wooden doors B&Q has certainly had a lot of my money recently. We needed 4 new doors. One for the smallestroomunderthestairs, one for the kitchen ,one for the utility area and on for the sitting room-hall. As you may have guessed we like pine read my opps on my pine kitchen units and my pine smallestroomunderthestairs opps to find out what else we have in pine. The builders have made my rooms look really good but there was something missing . No privacy in the smallestroomunderthestairs and no way to get to the front door. The builder kindly knocked a hole in the wall so we could get into the hall from the sitting room so we could get to the front door. Advantages: Great music
Disadvantages: You either love it or hate it

...You either love the Doors music or you hate it. Jim Morrison was one of the biggest sex symbols of the late sixties and early seventies who came to an unfortunate end in a bathtub in Paris. Was he a poet or a musician? His lyrics are deep and addictive. The music is often mesmeric with underlying Native American rhythm. This album is brilliant. If you haven’t listened to any of the Doors music, I urge you to try it. Whatever Jim Morrison may have been in private, whether he was a playboy, a drug addict, an alcoholic or a homosexual, this doesn’t affect the music he made. The performances were always filled with so much energy and meaning. So, the songs on the album: 1. Break on through - I dare you to listen to this without playing air guitar and tapping your foot. ...We bought Brass door handles When we bought our pine interior doors they came without door handles attached. We needed to buy those separately so we looked at the handles in B&Q. We decided we wanted handles not knobs we decided brass colour not silver. Brass looked warmer with the pine and would go with the natural colour scheme. we thought about pine knobs but decided they might be a mismatch . We decided we wanted a scroll shaped handle rather than a straight one, more pleasing to the eye. Curves are always good. I just opened my door now and the way the curve of the scroll is it just fits in to my hand shape excellent for opening. The metal does not feel cold and it feels smooth its good to open my doors with We chose the Victorian scroll polished brass handles. These are now available at £5.00 reduced from £5.47p... ...I've always been a bit funny about perfume, I'll fall in love with something, splash out on a bottle, and promptly go right off it. So many expensive mistakes were left sitting on my dressing table evaporating, or losing their potency. I have searched and searched through the years for that "signature fragrance"..the one that says your name to other people, the one they associate with you, and only you. The last time I thought I'd found it....the rest of the world found it too....and people would come up to you on buses, and in nightclubs or whatever and say "You're wearing Cerutti 1881 arent' you?"...."guess what....so am I!"....That's not what I had in mind. ...moment, giggling like a little schoolgirl and Quoting quotes at me and telling me “You’d love this book…” and “ You really should read this book…” over and over again. So when he finished it, just to shut him up I picked up “The portable door.” and I began to read. I really thought I’d read a few chapters, get a headache and say “Sorry darling I did try.” And that would be the end of that. However five hours later I put the book down and I’d finished it. It actually turned out that my husband was indeed right! I loved this book! Paul Carpenter Has just finished college and is looking for a Job. ...Back in 2007 The Times ran a promotion whereby readers could enjoy specially priced two or three course meals at participating restaurants. Seeing that one of the restaurants taking part in our area was Black Door we collected the required four tokens with excitement. Black Door is one of Newcastle's leading restaurants, well-known for the high standard of cuisine often using local ingredients and with its premium prices it was understandable that we should jump at the chance of eating three courses there for just £20 as an average main course alone comes in around the £20 mark. As the instructions advised, we made our booking by telephone and the day before our visit the restaurant telephoned to re-confirm.
