...With the release of their first album in 1967, the Doors burst upon the American music scene with a sound that was unique and unlike anything the world had heard before. This sound was the product of the various musical influences on the individual members of this band. Ray Manzarek was a classically trained pianist; Robbie Krieger was a classical and flamenco guitar student; John Densmore idolized the great jazz drummers; and Jim Morrison had no musical training at all--his forte was poetry and a fine hand for turning a lyric. The band didn't have a bass guitarist; in studio sessions they hired one, and in concerts Manzarek played keyboard bass. Advantages: Some forgotten tracks are brought back into the spotlight
Disadvantages: another Doors compilation!

...Before you say "oh no, not another Best Of The Doors album, that's it, I'm off down the pub", please bear two things in mind (1) not everyone will have heard of them and (2) order me one in when you get there will you? I'll be down in a minute when I've finished writing this, and I'll thrash you on the snooker table as well. So for any Doors "newbies" here follows a short history of the band and its members, then we'll get to the review. Most people, upon hearing a Doors tune, will instantly think of Jim Morrison, who was the singer. Son of a US Navy Admiral, he was a charismatic performer, a great lyricist, heavy drinker and drug abuser. ...The Best of the Doors I am a huge fan of The Doors and their music is timeless, so I was really pleased when my son bought my partner the C.D The Best of the Doors. I like all the tracks on it and usually blast it out whilst doing the housework. He should have bought it me but we share everything. The members of the band are. Ray Manzarek, John Densmore, Robby Krieger and the legendary Jim Morrison. All of the members of the band attended UCLA and as the story goes Jim Morrison bumped into Ray Manzarek whilst walking along Venice Beach. Jim sat and recited one of his poems/songs and Ray said Lets form a Rock and Roll Band. They then formed The Doors. Advantages: Great music by a seminal fusion band
Disadvantages: A few of my favourites aren't included

...Even though The Doors have been defunct as an active musical entity for for than thirty years, they remain one of my favorite groups. When the mood strikes me, which is often, I'll go to my CD rack and pull out one of their albums and play it, always at full volume. I guess that my abiding love of the music of The Doors stems from the fact that they might be the ultimate fusion group of all time. Although the term "fusion" is a relatively new word in my musical glossary, The Doors are probably one of the first and most pristine fusion groups of all time. Ray Manzarek, the keyboardist of the group, had classical training as a child, and he melded those influences with the blues, pop and psychedelia to produce a sound that's been described at various times as carnivalesque, haunting and downright gritty. ...Pine wooden doors B&Q has certainly had a lot of my money recently. We needed 4 new doors. One for the smallestroomunderthestairs, one for the kitchen ,one for the utility area and on for the sitting room-hall. As you may have guessed we like pine read my opps on my pine kitchen units and my pine smallestroomunderthestairs opps to find out what else we have in pine. The builders have made my rooms look really good but there was something missing . No privacy in the smallestroomunderthestairs and no way to get to the front door. The builder kindly knocked a hole in the wall so we could get into the hall from the sitting room so we could get to the front door.
