An End Has A Start - Editors
Advantages: Lyrically strong and musically very promising.
Disadvantages: It just isnt as great as their first album.Songs start firey but fizzle out too soon.
...With their brilliant debut album The Back Room, it was clear that Editor's had the musical gravitas to craft another equelly compelling second album. But in my opinion, they didn't.
For those of you that haven't heard Editor's then their sound is something like Interpol (vocally) and are definitely neo-post-punk musically. Guitars surge at the beginning of most songs aiming for something breathtakingly brilliant...trouble is that they never quite seem to get there. The songs some how begin to slump after the initial promise they offer.
The lyrics are still thought provoking and moody, delivered perfectly by the direct and edgy vocals and the music is definitely better than most bands of a similar genre but for me it just doesn't quite cut the mustard. Especially when I am certain that this band could do so much better. But having...

The Back Room - Editors
Advantages: 2 great tracks - Blood, and Munich
Disadvantages: Very disappointing tracks
...This debut album by West Midlands band 'The Editors' was pretty disappointing, despite a number of critics claiming otherwise.
MUNICH, and BLOOD are nice songs, and are a bit like 'Slow Hands' by Interpol. It's indie, but with a bit of an 80's 'New Order' / 'Joy Division' guitar sound coupled with 'Interpol'
Both tracks seem to follow the same musical recipe, and this is something I'll get onto later. They are more or less copies of each other, with a catchy guitar in the background as the singer repeats the same lyrics over and over. With these 2 tracks it works well, and they are definitely worth a listen.
But the spark runs out by the 4th track. There is nothing as good as MUNICH or BLOOD on the rest of the album. The other tracks are really quite boring and lack any catchy tune. Something was missing, and I think it was...

Namo WebEditor 5
Advantages: Easy To Build Any Kind Of Website
Disadvantages: Hard To Import HTML Manually
...Namo WebEditor 5 is what I use to build my online business and it may be cheaper than Dreamweaver and Frontpage but at the end of the day with all things even it is just as good if used correctly that is. I find it to be a lot easier to use than any of the other website design packages and does not leave you with any additional files when you save.
You have many options if deciding to create a website with Namo WebEditor 5 whether it be a personal or business website. You can use tables, frames and customisable forms using this package along with a detailed script wizard that can help you to design buttons in flash or animated scroll over GIFS.
Not only does this amazing package come with website making software but it also has a theme editor, screen capture and GIF animator to maximize the success and detail of your website. These...

Diary of a Tabloid Editor
Advantages: You get to see into the mind of a tabloid editor.
Disadvantages: You may not like what you see.
...Piers Morgan was promoted to Editor of the News of the World in 1994, after working for the owner in a relatively junior capacity. While there he was headhunted by the Daily Mirror, and as he preferred to be the editor of a daily, was pleased.
He kept notes of his ten years as editor of both papers, and after he was sacked from the Daily Mirror job, wrote this book. He thanks his ex-employers for giving him the time to write about his experiences.
I would most recommend this book to people who read tabloid papers, so that they can find out what motivates the journalists, and also to would be journalists, so that that can learn some of the tricks of the trade.
I haven't read any individual paper regularly recently, as I prefer the internet and television sources of news, because they are capable of being kept more up to...

My kingdom for an editor
Advantages: An interesting period to study
Disadvantages: Needs editing, more for style than for content
...Henry VII's reign). As this is a fairly standard way of dividing British history, it makes things accessible to the general reader as well. Within these broad divisions, however, Rubin carries various themes across the periods as needed - economic, geopolitical, cultural and other kinds movements and shifts are reflected by more than the rise and fall of particular monarchs. Rubin also takes a fairly even-handed approach, without taking sides in particular controversies (Was Henry IV's rise to power a legitimate one? Was Richard III's reign legitimate, and did he have the princes in the Tower murdered? - Rubin references such controversies without taking a partisan stance).
As others have noted in reviews of this book elsewhere, it wants a good editor, and unfortunately modern publishers have been cutting back on their editorial services...

Literary Editors
Advantages: Using a literary editor can make a big difference.
Disadvantages: Takes time and money.
...of finding one you can work with. Literary agents, however, get a lot of submissions, so a first draft isn't all that likely to impress. So, before doing that, a through going over of the manuscript is in order. Unfortunately I hate going over my own work.
That's where the literary editor comes in. And so, earlier this month, I set about hunting for some.
--What does an editor do?--
That was the first question I needed an answer too. My initial idea of an editor: They take your manuscript, fix spelling and grammar errors and send it back. And that is exactly what a basic editor will give you.
A good editor, on the other hand, will offer a much wider range of services.
Proofreading: The most basic option. Spelling, punctuation and formatting correction.
Copyediting: As above but includes grammar correction, full formatting, word...

No need to edit this one
Advantages: cheap, looks great
Disadvantages: n/a
...Doctor Who first started many years. It is a sci-fi show which is aimed at the whole family, about a man named the Doctor. The Doctor is a Time Lord, and is thought to be the last of his race. He travels around the universe in a blue box known as the Tardis, saving the innocent and fighting off the evil creatures of the universe. Sometimes he travels alone, but usually it is with a companion. In 2005 Doctor Who returned with Chris Eccleston, followed by David Tennant to play our tenth Doctor. They then took us through four series' to date.
In Series 1, the Doctor and Rose (Billie Piper) took a trip to the year 200,000 in episode The Long Game, to see how things have developed. Though something seems not right, and there's only one man to quiz. The editor. The editor is superbly played by actor Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead, Run Fatboy...

All Sparks Will Burn Out In The End
Advantages: A decent album with some fantastic lyrics and well written tracks
Disadvantages: At least one filler, a lot of unfulfilled promise in the sound
...Over the last couple of years the number of new bands to arrive on the British music scene has been an ever increasing number. It wouldn't seem so bad if they were all distinctly average, but the majority are actually really good and it's put a big dent in my wallet. A lot of these British bands seem to be releasing their debut albums around the same time and Editors are no exception to this trend. The Back Room is the Birmingham quartet's first album and it's an album that will win them a number of fans.
Of course like all the other bands about at the moment the likes of NME have chosen to compare them to bands from our past. They have an incredibly retro sound and that has instantly led to comparisons with the likes of Joy Division and The Smiths. For me I think the comparison to The Smiths is way wide of the mark, however there are...
