Oblivion Elder Scrolls IV Review
Review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC) by
LiviaLavelle
Advantages: A real indeph RPG game that will give you hours of richly designed conent.
Disadvantages: Really can eat up your evening (recommened you finish that essay before starting out)
...I was so excited when ordering my copy of Oblivion Elder Scrolls IV.
The screenshots and ads had promised much. I'm an eager gamer but am still not used to hours of my day being eaten up!
Oblivion is a massive RPG (role playing games) the deph of the storylines and quests is superb. I love this game because it gives you freedom, allows you to choose your own path in Cyrodil (the world in which your character lives). You can become a sinister asassin, a quirky mage or a brave fighter. And even (if you know the right people) become a secretive thief.
The Game features a thrilling main quest which on my first run took many months to complete (alongside other quests). But have since discovered that a few days concentrated play can leave you champion of cyrodil!
The game itself needs a high powered computer on which to play it, I...

Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion - Must Have
Review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360) by
pithouse88
Advantages: So Versatile
Disadvantages: It Has To End Eventually
...The Elder Scrolls IV : Oblivion. What a game, it has to be said it is just awesome, you start the game and before anything else you have to make your character. There are a wide range of choices available to you including three different types of elves (High, Dark or Wood), Nords (Mountain Folk), Argonian (Lizardmen), Khajitt (Cat Folk), Orcs (Large Green Skinned Humanoids), Redgaurds (Darker Skinned Humans With Natural Fighting Flare) or Imperials (Local Human Race With A Nack For Trade And Speech). After you have chosen your race you start the game in the Imperial Prison with a dark elf in the opposite cell taunting you, then a group of blades (Protectors Of The Emperor) escort Emperor Uriel Septim through your cell to help him escape from assassins who have already claimed his sucessors to the throne. They open a secret passage...

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
Review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360) by
LC1990
Advantages: Superb graphics and gameplay coupled with a gargantuan world to explore
Disadvantages: Very long loading times and is riddled with small glitches
..., there is also several towns such as Skingrad which harbours several Vampires or the Madjestic Imperial City which is crowned with the White Ayeild Tower.
From my experiences of the game I would guess that it would take anything for 100 to 200 hours to fully complete this games as it is just so large.
Another major factor in the gameplay is things like the Bounty and how well you are known, wether you a a menacing murderer that the law cannot stop or a knight that is blessed by the gods will effect your chances of joining certain guilds or certain races likeing you.
Ths game really offers the gamer a chance to live out his most wildest dream and when bored just being able to turn of the console and pause his second life that is contained inside Bethseda's masterpeice that is the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion...

The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion
Review of The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion (PS3) by
olly29018
Advantages: A huge world to explore with millions of combinations of weapons and armour.
Disadvantages: Boring and extremely difficult battles and full of glitches.
...I am an avid RPG fan, but I am sick to death of boring battle systems. Thats why after creating my completely original character and setting him out on my own adventure in a massive and gloriously detailed world, I was so disappointed when the fighting began. Fighting with a bow and arrow is passable but you can barely do any damage, and the sword fighting is mundane and as unsatisfying as can be. To be honest, after hours of leveling up so you can go round destroying little imps, you find your self expecting to feel satisfied, and a sense of accomplishment. You just won't find either of those in Oblivion, at least not easily.
This does not mean the game isn't fun to play. I can't write a review of this game without mentioning the character creation system. It is without a doubt the best system I have ever seen. You could spend...

The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Reviewed
Review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC) by
Noor123
Advantages: Great graphics, amazing depth and interaction
Disadvantages: When you finish there's nothing to do
...Where to start where to start, I mean the first thing I did when I started playing this game was gasp in surprise, ever since the previews and the trailers I knew the graphics in this game would be top notch, but nothing prepared me for this!
Graphics 10
I mean the graphics can't get any better then this to be honest, the only game I can think of is Call Of Juarez, however this was realised much later then oblivion, and which uses the very advanced Chrome Engine 2006.
I would spend many an hour just walking around in the beautifully rendered forests for along time, and taking screenshots of the beatiful scenery, one thing which just looked amazing in oblivion was the Lake at sunset, that was absolutely stunning!
The only flaw I found was the fact that everyone using a Shader Model 2.0 graphics card won't be able to use HDR, yes...

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PS3)
Review of The Elder Scrolls IV - Oblivion (PS3) by
slate_dawg
Advantages: Excellent Graphics, Massive Map, Extensive Gameplay
Disadvantages: Some graphical glitches, time consuming.
...immersed in the game and make it more real.
The only graphical glitch I have found so far is when you come out of first person mose, it can look like you are somewhat floating across the ground. However, considering the game is best played in first person mode, this is a glitch that I can let slide, especially seeing as how the gameplay is so real.
The storyline is complicated but can be followed providing you ar really willing to get your teeth into the game, like most RPGs.
In order to fully appreciate the game, navigation of the menus and familiarity with the HUGE map is essential but the earlier tasks allow you to become more used ot using these features and exploring and for me, allowed for a good introduction to the RPG genre as I had never really played one properly before.
As a result, I fully reccommend Oblivion and is definitely...

Oblivion: Best RPG to date?
Review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360) by
Mortious
Advantages: Great Graphics, Quests, Sounds
Disadvantages: So Darn BIG
...The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is the fourth in the series of Elder Scrolls games. Its predecessor Morrowind was a huge hit in western markets and it had a huge cult following throughout the world with many fans of all ages. I was not one of these fans. I could never get into Morrowind no matter how hard I tried. ( And I've tried various times over the years). This gave me doubts when it came to the release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Would I be able to get into it? Or would it just sit on the shelf next to Morrowind? After a few days of uncertainty I decided to give in a buy myself a copy of it on launch day. Here are my thoughts and feelings towards The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
From the moment the game beings you are dropped into the world of The Elder Scrolls. A medieval world...

Throw your social life into Oblivion
Review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (PC) by
Magrippinho
Advantages: Stunning, Polished, Gigantic
Disadvantages: Overwhelming, Weak Friendly Fighting AI
...Four years after the critically acclaimed "Morrowind", producer Bethesda Softworks releases the fourth installment of the Elder Scrolls. It seems as if every minute was spent enriching and perfecting the award winning formula, as the flawless "Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion" will forever engrave its name in video-game history. The epitome of RPGs, the definition of gaming. It's enthralling, it's relentless. Prepare to throw your social life into Oblivion.
***The Story***
Characteristic to the Elder Scrolls series is the immense freedom the player is bestowed with. Fate confronts the completely user-created character with an epic quest that somehow encompasses the fate of the kingdom and/or the entire world of Cyrodill, but it is a destiny that may well be ignored. Recovering mystical artifacts, slaying vampires, assassinating royalty...

Oblivion Outclasses All
Review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360) by
dan89
Advantages: There is nothing like this, a piece of art which demands respect
Disadvantages: Do not play this if you want a social life, it will suck you in
...The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, or more simply Oblivion, is a single player fantasy-themed action-oriented computer role-playing game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks and the Take-Two Interactive subsidiary 2K Games. It is the next game in the Elder Scroll Series after Morrowind and was released on Xbox 360 and PC, later followed by PS3.
Oblivion is a hard game to genre as it touches on so many aspects and types of games, it is played from a first person view, but can be put in a third person view if wished. I have to say, stick to the first person as it makes the game much more atmospheric. I'd say Oblivion is a RPG at core, you create your character at the beginning of the game and you increase and learn skills as you fight the enemies of the game.
Oblivions story is a deep and vast one...

Oblivion.. for your social life
Review of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion (Xbox 360) by
h4moh4mo
Advantages: Great graphics, Surprisingly good controls
Disadvantages: Loading Times, SO addictive, No co-op
...Oblivion is the 4th installment of the elder scrolls series, and its amazing, and easily the bext 360 game ive played to date.
I am not a fan of the RPG genre in particular, to be honest, anything where i can whip out an desert eagle and start dealing some serious damage is more my type of game. That said i think oblivion could well be the best single player game i have played since half-life 2!
It has all the standard RPG elements with a great main quest, hugely varied and enjoyable sub-missions and also surprisingly great controls and graphics, it really is a total joy to play.
Character customisation is as detailed and varied as iv ever seen, with hundreds of visual and attribute altering options, as you take your character from a lowly prisoners to a famous and powerful hero and saviour from the threat of oblivion. Great fun...
