...BACKGROUND I like to pamper myself every now and then with a face mask, but because my skin is quite sensitive, I have to be careful about which one I choose. PRODUCT The face mask that I have purchased is from Avon's Naturals range and is a Tea Tree peel off mask. The tube contains 75ml and retails for about £3.50. Avon occasionally does special offers with their Naturals range, where you can buy any three items for £5. When these offers happen I stock up on lots of tubes, so I haven't had to buy any of these for a while, but my stocks are becoming very low. ...~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ THE ADVENTURE BEGINS ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have seen the 'Superdrug Tea Zone Peel-Mask' on offer for 1/3 off the original price (so under £2), therefore I could not resist but to put it in my basket, since my old Simple Mask has ran out. I tend to have to be cautious with products like this, as I can get dry skin on my face at times and was wary about what this product could do to me. However, since I have tried the 'Superdrug Tea Tree Face Wash' and was able to survive the entire bottle, I had a lot of faith in this mask product. It was a bit of an adventure, as I have never used peel-off mask before. I always have to wash my clay mask off my face and it can get really messy, so I was intrigued by this product. ...My sister bought me The Body Shop's Tea Tree Oil Face Mask for Christmas, and I admit that it was one of the most satisfying beauty products that I recieved this year. The 100ml pot, a squashed cylindrical shape, is peppermint green in colour with a black lid. The instructions for use can be found on the underside of the pot. This clay-based face mask is designed for normal, oily or blemished skin. I have found that it works really well on my face because my skin is not the same all over, meaning that some parts are oily, another has blemishes, and the rest is normal. An improvement in my overall complexion can be seen immediately after I remove the mask. The mask is easy to use (probably very similar to most face masks.) ...I'm feeling terrible at the moment - I think I've caught some virus or something, and decided to perk myself up with a face mask. I dug out my trusty self-heating mud mask from the Natural Collection at Boots but I only had a tiny bit left. My mum was going shopping anyway yesterday, so I sent her to Boots to pick up a tube for me, but being my mother, she had decided that self-heating ones weren't good for the skin and bought me one from Superdrug! There are a few different versions, but I got the sensitive version. It comes in a plain white tube with MASK written vertically across it, in big turquoise letters. It does look slightly cheap, but for £1.59, what do you expect? I find it easier to apply the mask if my skin is a little damp to start with. I layer it on, let it dry for about 30-40 minutes, before gently rinsing/scrubbing it off. It leaves your skin perfectly primer for a moisturiser or night cream. PRICE The price is great and Julep Mask is good value for money. ...I love this mask. I use it a lot. At first you have to apply it right otherwise it doesn't peel off easily. You just mix with water and make the mixture into a smooth paste and then apply onto your face. I leave it for 10-15 minutes and then just peel off. I use quite a thick layer so the mask peels off easily and then just wip my face with a towel and fresh water. The mask refreshes my skin and tones as well. I really feel the minerals in the mask working and I always think my skin looks brighter when I use this mask. It cleans and moisturises and I use it about once a week. I find my skin looks smoother and the area around my eyes brighter so it's good for late nights and tired skin from everyday life. ...is on the bottom which means all the product stays at the bottom of the tube so no annoying bits that get stuck inside the tube which you have to try and squeeze out later on. On the front of the tube there is the Decleor logo and some writing with the name of the product and on the reverse there are instructions for use. "Use once or twice a week, apply to face and neck. Wait for 5 - 15 minutes. Rinse with a cotton-wool pad soaked with warm water." My skin is prone to breakouts so I tend to limit my use of face masks to once a week. Advantages: Leaves your skin seriously cleansed, smooth and bright, interesting product.
Disadvantages: Pretty strong, not suitable for sensitive or even non-greasy skin

...your daily cleanser, it can be a useful idea to use a face mask, which is designed to sit on your face (oooh Matron!) for a while and draw out impurities and deep-down dirt and grease that's built up over the week, usually using some absorbent ingredient such as clay to "suck" it out (Ooo-err! Sorry I've been watching too many Carry On films today!). These are great for removing deep-down muck, but they don't do a lot to get rid of grease-clogged old skin cells, which sometimes need a bit more persuasion to depart from your skin. This is where an exfoliant comes in. Both of these products should be used 1 to 2 times a week as an extra "treat" or "service" for your skin. ...Facemasks. Let’s face it, although they’re supposed to be good for your skin, most of the time ‘good’ means that it’s going to make you break out into a rash as the impurities are ‘drawn out’. I mean, really – I’d rather leave them where they aren’t bothering me!!
