...Here's a debut helping from one of Radio One's favourite bands in the world right now; Friendly Fires. Resonating from St. Albans, Radio One would have you believe they're set for world domination. Far be it from me to be the critic here, but here we go... Released originally in September last year, it's due for re-release at the end of August, with the addition of some new material including the brand new track "Kiss of Life". This original outing however consists of ten dance-punk/synth-pop/whatever the new term is kind of tracks that are, even on first listen, pleasant listening pleasure. Playing with Fire

Advantages: still a big fan of this series after reading this, I love the characters
Disadvantages: It takes forever to get into and was too drawn out at the beginning. Not as good as the first!

This book cleverly shifts from past to present. Cartimandua (one of the two main ladies in the book also known as Carta) is introduced to the reader as a young girl who's destiny is to rule her own tribe, the Brigantes. She has to conquer invaders, deal with death, survive miscarriages and most poignantly fight against a deadly curse set in revenge from a dangerous woman. Advantages: Excellent Movie Sountrack.
Disadvantages: None!

...REASONS FOR PURCHASING: St Elmo?s' Fire is one of my all time favourite movies that I really had great pleasure in watching in 1986. I really was thrilled when I first saw this excellent, star studded movie and was highly impressed with the soundtrack and all of the great songs that where played throughout it. I purchased this soundtrack a few years later after watching St Elmo's Fire, as I really thought all the songs chosen for the movie really helped it to be the big success it was. Man on Fire

Advantages: On screen chemistry, innovative revenge, heart warming
Disadvantages: Predictable

...The best things in life are the simple things. Ok, not always, but Man on Fire is a shining example of how a paper thin and predictable plot can touch the depths of a grown man's heart, and make him wail like a newborn baby. It's a testament to the chemistry between Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning that make this much more than your typical "Revenge movie", littered with cheesy moments. Washington plays Creasy, who, in his own words, is a "Drunk; a has-been" who feels he has nothing worth living for; he attempts to top himself one lonely night. Pita, however, the girl he must protect as the bodyguard, takes to Creasy immediately, and attempts to emotionally unwrap this "Big sad bear". Slipway Fires - Razorlight

Advantages: Catchy,rocky,melodic,bril liantly insightful and witty cutting lyrics.Genius!
Disadvantages: I really cant think of any at all.

The band are made up of Singer/guitarist Johnny Borrell and guitarist/singer and Swedish ex-pat Björn Ågnen, bassist Carl Dalemo and drummer Christian Smith-Pancorvo. Fire Down Below Film Review

Advantages: Seagal is surprisingly good.
Disadvantages: An "Eco-Thriller"?!

...Surely with all this "Save the Planet" fixation in the media these days, it wouldn't be so criminal (as it seemed it once was) to watch Steven Seagal's 1997 "Eco-Thriller". Despite its reputation, Fire Down Below really isn't that bad a film. Seagal is Jack Taggart, an agent of the Environmental Protection Agency. Kris Kristofferson soon becomes the target as the crooked businessman, who has been using abandoned mines to dump toxic waste. Getting to him requires Seagal to arse-whip a host of dirty yokels, and then deliver an ecological message in the church to let everyone know that pissing with the environment is an absolute no-no. OK, so it may not sound like the most exciting synopsis ever, but at least Seagal shows a genuine affection for the issues that many of us choose to ignore. Surprisingly, he comes across as a nice guy...
