...Newfloridian has come home! We are currently staying 'on property' in Disney's newest accommodation. As I watch the clouds gather for the regular July afternoon thundershower I am mindful of the many happy vacations I have spent in Disneyworld, Florida, over the last 25 years. I first wrote about Disney Vacation Club (DVC) over three years ago. The article was archived and until recently there has not been a category for this interesting and fascinating holiday resource. I intend to add an article shortly about this latest resort and spa. As it is part of the DVC family I have rewritten and updated the original article to reflect today's prices and experiences. DVC is now widely advertised around the park, on the buses, on the brilliant red DVC shuttle buses and at the information kiosks. However, it remains a largely unknown... Read review

Advantages: Every bit as magical as the brochures promise!
Disadvantages: Very expensive, a lot of walking is necessary and you have to plan well to fit everything in!

...: - Don't run for cover at the first sign of rain! Just get out your water-proofs (they sell them everywhere in the rainy season, and even my fashion concsious 14 year old brother walked round wearing the bright yellow Mickey poncho!). Crowds get noticeably thinner, and most of the rides remain open (unless lighning threatens). We went in the middle of the rainy season (yes, August is the hottest and wettest time of year!) but I havet to say the heavy downpours were quite refreshing after the blistering heat and there was only really one day cut short because of the weather (animal kingdom). - Sweaters, jackets and other bits that you might need later but don't want to carry round with you can be left in the lockers at the entrance. Advantages: Convenient for seeing Disney attractions, affordable, extended park hours just for Disney resort guests
Disadvantages: No ghosts, parking lot kind of far from rooms, those evil little lanyard pins

This was my first visit to Orlando and Russell's second, his first taken when the Magic Kingdom was the only park Disney World had. Unlike Anaheim, where Disneyland is crowded by a plethora of motels and restaurants, the parks at Disney World are surrounded by spacious, open land. Navigating our way through its roads was confusing, since neither of us were familiar with the Orlando area. We eventually found ourselves at something that looked like a toll booth. An attendant asked Russell for ID, then we knew we were on the right portion of West Buena Vista Drive. ...Introduction ~~ You've wanted to go for years, you've seen it on holiday programmes and would just love to picture yourself right there in Florida at one of the Disney Parks being scared to life on a magnificent "bigger and better" theme park ride. Or if that's not you're thing strolling around one of the many, many mini-countries in Epcot. Whatever you enjoy and like its there at Disney, Orlando, Florida. The first Disney theme park; Disney land was built in the 1950's in California. However the biggest Disney park and newest is in Florida and as you've probably heard is called Disneyworld. Disneyworld is made up of four different parks; Magic Kingdom, MGM Studios, Epcot and Animal Kingdom. It would be very unfair to say which is the best as all of the parks are unique and different but all of them have that touch of Disney... Read review

We left through the restaurant's back door and found ourselves Off Stage again. ON TO MAGIC KINGDOM After lunch we returned to our bus for the trip over to the Magic Kingdom. Our first stop (again Backstage) was the Holiday Services building (1450 Facilities Way). This is another huge barn of a warehouse where the Christmas decorations for the whole of the Disney operation worldwide (not just Florida) are created, maintained and stored. It is an all year activity and the department has a staff of 20. Putting up the decorations for the Holiday Season starts on October 31st. ...My CIAO screen name should give an indication that although I come from the UK side of the pond, I have some predilection for the Sunshine State. I have spent many happy holidays in and around Walt DisneyWorld (WDW) in Florida. My first visit was back in 1980 and this year will mark my twenty fifth return. During that time I have seen, done and worn most of the T-shirts and have also explored many of the bits that one-time visitors just don't have the time to see and would not think to ask about. This review is something of a retrospective on my part but I also hope that I can pass on a hint or two that may make someone's next trip that little bit more entertaining. FIRST THINGS FIRST. ...favourite of mine!). This is a great place to buy lunch or dinner and eat it outside on one of the tables and it is one of the few Disney food outlets that sells relatively healthy food. The coffee and hot chocolate are also fantastic here! There are also some non-Disney shops. A few years ago there used to be a really wide range of non Disney shops but these have been dwindling in number of the last few year! The LEGO centre is great for kids and there is a large activity playground that is free for kids (and adults!) to play in. they lso have a massive range of Lego merchandise for you to buy in store. If you are looking for clothing, Summer Sands offer s range of clothing brands such as Quicksilver for men women. The clothes are no cheaper or expensive than anywhere else in Florida but it's a handy shop if you need an extra pair... Read review

...Disney's Polynesian Resort Welcome to Disney's version of Waikiki and aloha! Disney's Polynesian Resort is one of the few original resorts that has been present in the world (of the Walt Disney Variety) since it first opened in 1970s. Tropical palm tress, grass skirts and a few pineapple juices welcome you to the wonderfully tropical world of the Polynesian resort hotel! Aloha! The rooms are arranged in blocks and one little known fact is that the rooms were all assembled and completed off site and then literally 'slotted' into the frames that were built in their current locations! The reception area is fantastic in this hotel with lush exotic plants and flowers everywhere as well as a running water fountain. ...I joined the Disney vacation club a couple of years ago and used the nights that I have accumulated so far to splash out and stay at Disney's grand Floridian Resort and Spa rather than at the Disney vacation Club Prpoerty at Walt Disney World as I felt a bit if pampering and luxury were in order!! Needless to day, as this is the most expensive property at Disnwy World my points didn't go very far so it may have been better just to pay in cash but you live and learn!! Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa at Walt Disney World in Florida is the flagship of all the Disney hotels located at Walt Disney World (WDW) and is based upon a turn of the century Floridian resort. The hotel is predominantly white and pink with bright red roof tiles that make it visually quite stunning and make it look almost like cotton candy... Read review
