...My boyfriend Chris first introduced me to this series a couple of years ago. As we hadn’t been together long I didn’t hold out too much hope for his recommendation that I watch the program because although he knew I liked dark comedy he didn’t know exactly the kind of things I found find funny. Advantages: An excellent piece of live comedy, the live show is much better than the TV series

...I decided to buy this DVD to be in on the jokes colleagues at work were making after having watched the show themselves. I had already seen the show on television and found it to be quite funny but not a real side splitter. If you haven’t seen the League of Gentlemen before, it is basically a dark comedy starring sordid and troubled characters. The DVD cost about £20 from HMV and is just over one and a half hours in length. The show is performed by the cast of Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith a talented trio of actors who play many different characters. Advantages: Tons of stuff related to Time Gentlemen Please!
Disadvantages: Sound clip sometimes crashes my browser.

...If you like Time Gentlemen Please (TGP) there is a fantastic fan website with all sorts of obscure facts from the show. The address is:- http://www.timegentlemenplease.net The address is easy to type and you are greeted with a welcome screen which has a joke based on the begining of the show. Once you enter the site you will be greeted with a TGP soundclip. This is the only thing that has given me any problems as if I click on any links before the soundclip finishes my browser (Internet Explorer) crashes. However as long as I wait this is not a problem. The webmaster has included info on the cast, an episode guide, multimedia clips, lists of infomation (such as reasons why Terry was barred from the Gaff), and an opportunity to ask questions to Al Murray. ..., recorded with Elton John. A good version of a good song. The "ladies and gentlemen, Mr Elton John" bit was done a few times and I guess the audience became less and less enthusiastic at each recording but you can't tell from listening to it. Both singers sound brilliant live. 5) You Have Been Loved In 1991, George was widowed. His partner died and this song is a lament to that and his partner's mother. He may have be suffering but it's nothing to losing a child, seems to be what he is saying. "She sits and counts the hours". Of course, the song has now become synonomous with the death of Diana, Princess of Wales as it reached number two in 1997, the same week "Candle In The Wind" topped the charts. ...This series will most definetly be seen as one of the great British comedies in years to come. Joining its forebearers such as Monty Python, Bottom, The Young Ones and of Course the Fast Show. Personally I love The League of Gentlemen, but there are those who don;t like it at all. How STRANGE...... It basically takes the same format of any sketch show like the Fast Show, the only difference is that over the episodes there is a plot between the sketches. A sketch can be anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes long. The huge array of characters often intermingle as well, they are not seperated out like in other comedies but all live in the sae warped and hilarious world. Mine didnt come with an inlay i dont know if this was a fault or it actually doesnt come with one, but the scene list is printed on the back of the inside of the cd case.
