Gladiator is a film set back in the times Caeser, in the time where men wore leather skirts and the times where there were Gladiators. The main character Maximus, was the general of the Roman Army. But eventually he left the army after the new emperor wanted him dead. Maximus was then captured and used in the brutal Roman games, Gladiator. This film has some very gruesome scenes, men get chopped in half and heads being lopped off. This film also has some stunning computer graphics of Ancient Rome. ...The Gladiator special edition DVD is amazing, an instant classic. You have firstly the film, which is brilliant. It stars Russell Crowe as Gladiator who goes from being war general to slave on a roller coaster ride which causes him to rise again to have his vengeance on Caesar. However, what makes this DVD stand out from the rest, is not only the film itself, but the special features included on the second bonus DVD. ...The romans are indeed returning to the silver screen with the release of Gladiators. Well storyline depicting the lives of the Gladiators. Russell did a good job with his character.The saddest part is when his family was killed by the Romans. The movie showed that they are vicious human beings. No wonder the Romans empire didnt last forever. The colosseum was impressive. I heard it was generated using computer. This is one of the best movies i ever watched so far. Really keeps you on your chair until the end! The most interesting part in the movie is when both of them were fighting in the Colloseum with the lions behind these Gladiators. ...Maximus is a roman general, who becomes a slave and then a gladiator. Over half the time in the film is spent on him being a gladiator, and this is where the real gem in the film is. Russel Crowe plays maximus brilliantly, and there were no holds barred on the purse strings for special effects. We see Crowe fight men, chariots and tigers as well as many other things. The film doesnt end as it is supposed to with a happy ending, because maximus dies. But at least this avoids lame sequels.... Read review

...If you enjoyed all the old "classic" epics like Ben Hur then you will like this DVD , it contains all the elements that made those films classics , big battles gladiter fights and of course chariots . From the start of the film you are thrown into the thick of battle as you see the mighty Roman army easily crush an unorganised Germanian tribe . Gladiator is full of set pieces such as that and each one is amazing to watch . As well as amazing to watch Gladiator is amazing to listen to as well with an amazing orchesrial soundtrack. For all you people who like extras in their DVDs Gladiator will not dissapoint with a whole disc full of extras such as how it was made , how the music was composed and a 50 minutes documentry on gladiators... Advantages: Good story line and loads of action.
Disadvantages: You can't watch it if you don't like blood.

...Gladiator is the sort of film that can please anyone. It has action, a good story and my mum was nearly crying at the end of it although I can't see why. I bought this product because it was new and meant to be really good. The critics were right. It was an excellent film with loads of action and an very good story about when a Roman goes from a general to a Gladiator. He gets more noticed than he'd hoped as he becomes the Gladiator whom noone can beat. The Emperor thought he was dead but he ends up facing up to the Emperor. The film is very long and has lots of blood so if you don't like blood then I wouldn't watch it. I would recommend this film to everyone.... Read review

Advantages: Excellent movie,the best I've seen in a long time.
Disadvantages: I only wish they had kept in all the deleted scenes, and then added more. I couldn't get enough.

...If you have seen Ben Hur, Sparticus, The Robe, or Anthony and Cleopatra and thought that these weak portrayals of the Roman Era were good then you will love Gladiator. If you didn’t find any of the other films about this era very exciting or like I did very weak, then you will still love Gladiator. Russell Crowe plays the part of a Roman General sentenced to death, escapes, reduced to slavery and forced to fight as a gladiator. From this lowly position he wins the admiration of the citizens of Rome and brings about the downfall of the Emperor. Gladiator is a brilliant movie and one that you will want to see time and again. It is an enthralling plot that is not in any way distracted from by sub-plots, like many of the movies which have gone before had a tendency to do. ...Well this was a very good film for me. I loved almost every bit of it. Great story line, and acting, as well as the stunning graphics. Gladiator tells the story of a General who won several wars for the Roman empire, but then is sentenced to a secret death by Ceaser. He escapes and well becomes a slave / gladiator. He defeats every one, and ceaser himself for revenge of his family. Quite moving, and superb action. The stunning graphical effects that enhanced battles and created the city of Rome with most buildings intact and new compared to the 21st century. Very good. 5 stars.... Read review

...I have now seen Gladiator twice and I must say I LOVE it! With Russel Crowe starring as the actual gladiator the film is an amzing story which certainly got me going! The film based on a Gladiator fighting for his empire is a really interesting story, there are many sad parts which get you shedding the odd tear or two but there are also many better parts to the film, funny and interesting. THE STORYLINE~ A Roman general named Maximus (Russel Crowe) is put into slavery by the heir to the throne. He then becomes a gladiator. His fighting skills in the arena lead him out of slavery to find himself in Rome, fighting in the Colosseum, he ends up battling against his newly founded emporer, but who wins, you will have to watch to find out..........
