A celebration hotel break.
Review of Best Western Barton Grange Hotel, Preston by
jo145
Advantages: Near the motorway, wonderful food, comfortable rooms
Disadvantages: Nothing to do in Barton
...Firstly Barton Grange hotel is no longer with Best Western. It is a Classic Hotel. Secondly it is 4 star!
To quote their rating "A Deluxe 4 star hotel is exceptionally well maintained with deluxe standards of accommodation, facilities and public rooms that offer every comfort with excellent service."
Do I agree? Well read on and you will see what I think!
My husband was searching for a hotel half way between where we live in Scotland and where my sister and her husband live in England. We wanted to treat them for a special occasion. We wanted a bit of luxury, good food, an indoor pool and places nearby to visit whatever the weather.
The Barton Grange hotel looked as if it fitted these requirements and so we booked 2 nights B&B for the four of us, over the internet. Later we decided to go a day earlier and emailed our booking...

The Great Grange
Review of Grange Holborn Hotel, London by
richardsonjones
Advantages: Great Location, Huge Executive Rooms
Disadvantages: Quite expensive
...I stayed at the Grange Holborne for 2 nights in April 2005. The trip was a special birthday treat for my mother and it was important to me that the hotel was particularly special. When I was looking for a hotel for our stay I saw that this came highly recommended by a number of websites and so booked an executive twin at a cost of £135.00 per night.
On checking in we quickly noticed that, although the reception area was quite small, the staff all seemed to be incredibly efficient and helpful. We arrived quite early and although our room wasn't ready they quickly arranged for us to leave our luggage so that we could get on with enjoying our trip to the big city.
Although the room we had reserved was an executive twin, I think we may have been upgraded to a mini-suite (I had emailed the hotel to tell them about Mum's birthday when I...

The Grange, good but it should be exellent !
Review of Grange Hotel, York by
read123
Advantages: Good location, nice food , wi-fi service provided
Disadvantages: Limited parking space, over priced
...I'm a huge fan of York and frequently pay visits to this historic town, I have stayed in a fair few of the good hotels York has to offer. As a nice weekend treat in before christmas in december I decided to try The Grange as it holds a very high reputation throughout York and is generally seen as a quality hotel.
Anyway on to my stay at The grange, first impressions the building is situated within waking distance from the town centre which is handy but the building is not set back from the road so noise can become a problem in the front rooms as the road in which it is located (bootham) is a main road in York and is busy at most times.Next onto the parking faciities, I consider these to be quite inadequate for a hotel of this size it has 40+ rooms with little room for more than 20 cars and also needs to allow space for people...

Great modern 5* London hotel
Review of Grange City Hotel, London by
cdmitchell
Advantages: Location, modern facilities, "Wellness Centre" - pool, spa, sauna, steam room
Disadvantages: No view from the room
...My wife and I stayed at the Grange City Hotel over the most recent bank holiday weekend. Having stayed in many London hotels that have tiny rooms and feel fairly overpriced, I was pleasantly surprised with the Grange City Hotel.
The room was fantastic, and huge! The king size bed, desk, radio, tv with local channels, business channels as well as several sports and foreign language channels, and the option of internet and pay movies. Each room has a safe, iron, and tea and coffee making facilites. The minibar was even computerised! (be careful you don't touch anything unless you want to pay for it!)
The bathroom was immense, modern, and had a large bath and a separate shower.
Our room was supposed to come with 2 monogramed bathrobes, although they weren't there when we arrived. The friendly staff of the Grange ensured that we...

THE GRANGE, LONG WITTENHAM, BED & BREAKFAST
Review of The Grange, Long Wittenham by
kismet
Advantages: friendly owners, good location
Disadvantages: none
...and Wallingford. We visited Bleinham Palace while we were there as it is only a short drive away. The Grange has views overlooking the Oxfordshire Clumps and is ideally situated for walks along the river. Guests are also free to use the garden in spring/summer.
I would recommend this Bed & Breakfast to anybody who wants a break in Oxfordshire. The owner is friendly and wants you to have a good stay. We have stayed there twice now and will certainly be going back again, although maybe not until next Easter! The service is friendly and personal and you feel like a guest in their house, rather than an unknown face in a hotel. It is not what I would call a smart place, the essence is shabby chic I think! There are portraits of ancestors on the wall and the china is french and old.
The bed and breakfast is rated 3 stars by Visit Britain...

A PEARL OF AN ISLAND
Review of Norton Grange Hotel, Castledon by
arnoldhenryrufus
Advantages: Friendly staff, plenty to do and see, entertainment provided, beautiful views
Disadvantages: you have to walk outside to get from chalet to main building, great in good weather not so great if you are dressed up to the nines and its raining
...the food at Norton Grange, there was always enough choice, although little plain for my husbands' tastes but it was varied and edible. It was 3 yrs ago we visited Norton Grange and if it has followed the hotels, the restaurant service would have changed last year to a wider variety of food to choose from a buffet bar.
The only thing I did not like about Norton Grange was the noise you got from people coming past your chalet on their way back to their chalets, it felt like they were going to come inside it was that close. You don't get this so much in the Hotels.
*** Out and About ***
We visited a few places during our stay, I would like to tell you about a few of the places we saw.
The Waltzing Waters - this was a beautiful show, it mesmerized you all the way through, the fountains of coloured water danced it way through many...

The evening I felt rich (for the 1st time!)
Review of Grange City Hotel, London by
mrpop
Advantages: Spacious - Comfortable - Luxurious
Disadvantages: You occasionally hear train
...to breakfast the following morning you could choose between continental and English breakfasts and I would highly recommend the latter - although be warned, there will be a small surcharge for this.
I can not comment on the price because my girlfriend's company is linked to the hotel and gets a corporate discount but a quick glance at the website showed a range of special offers with rooms starting at £51 per night. Overall, I would highly recommend the Grange Hotel to anyone looking for a high quality hotel in the City of London....

My Little Piece of Heaven
Review of Rowhill Grange Hotel & Spa, Wilmington by
Dobbi1
Advantages: Relaxing, tranquil, stress free
Disadvantages: NONE
...What a wonderful place to go.
I visited Rowhill Grange on a Pamper Day and stayed overnight.
It was fantastic.
My friend and I went one Thursday afternoon and stepped into a tranquil, relaxing and stress free world.
It is situated in a secluded setting but is only 5 minutes from the M25 and M20 junction 3. As you drive into Hextable, there is a little turning signposted Rowhill Grange and this takes you up a winding drive way. I could feel the stresses of every day life float away as drove up. I couldn't wait.
My friend's husband and mine had booked us in for a Spa Escape (a one night stay which included a three course dinner, full use of the Utopia Spa facilities including exercise classes, and English Breakfast) - pure self dulgence - what a treat (mind you we deserved it!).
On arrival we were shown to our room...

More-service-needed Grange! Dismal in Disley
Review of Hilton Moorside Grange, Higher Disley by
aimee2525
Advantages: Lovely views
Disadvantages: Terrible service
...(Please note, this is now a 'Best Western' Hotel rather than a Hilton.)
My Husband booked a two-night stay here for our first anniversary. We were looking forward to a lovely few days away.
Two weeks before our stay, I telephoned to book some spa treatments. I was put through to the 'triangle' spa centre. The member of staff on the other end of the phone was very rude and unhelpful, and announced that there were no treatments of any kind available at any time during our stay. He then hung up. I phoned the hotel back to complain. They said there was nothing they could do. Anyway, we booked a day spa in Manchester called 'inner sanctuary' (which was absolutely lovely!) and decided to put it behind us.
Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted with absolutely fantastic views of the countryside and a very friendly and helpful...

Its enormous
Review of Barton Grange Garden Centre, Preston by
MichelleScott
Advantages: Big and interesting
Disadvantages: Not cheap
...of the garden. We visited a few local garden centres – him to brave the cold outside to examine every leaf of every plant out there; me to sniff all the different candles and squeeze all the teddies in the gift shop. Then we discovered a gardener and his wife’s delight – Barton Grange Garden Centre in Preston.
It’s hard to describe the delight of finding a place like this. (For experienced Ciaoers - I suppose it is like Moose going to Cadbury World or Trampus being given an Ann Summers shop.)
Garden Grange actually run 3 garden centres – Preston, Bolton and Stockport. We plan to visit the Stockport one soon, as it is the largest one (13 acres!). The Preston one is the oldest, it was opened in May 1963. It is attached to the Barton Grange Hotel.
~ GETTING THERE ~
It is in Barton, which is just far enough...
