As the songwriting mastermind behind the Violent Femmes, Gordon Gano is worthy of respect. On his solo outing Hitting the Ground, he gets it, with an all-star line-up of guests recording Gano originals. Yet this is no tribute album: most of the 11 tracks here were written for other vocalists, so the likes of Frank Black, They Might Be Giants, Mary Lou Lord, John Cale and Lou Reed all contribute. Best of all, though, is PJ Harvey, who manages to pull off a fair impression of Gano's trademark frenetic yelps on the title track. The man himself even gets a few opportunities to shine, rocking through "Make It Happen", dueting with Martha Wainwright on "It's Money" and even reprising "Hitting the Ground". But it's the guest stars who really shine here. If a man can be judged by the quality of his friends, then Hitting the Ground is testament to Gordon Gano's genius. --Robert Burrow

Advantages: Great show, well presented, helping to rid our streets of awful offenders. Disadvantages: Some of the reconstructions are very upsetting and it's because they're all true :(

Advantages: Nice Applicator Disadvantages: Can be sticky and does not taste that good
...Some time ago I won a lip gloss in the news Of The World Sunday Magazine. It was Beauty UK Plump and Pout Gloss. The shade I got was No2 Rouge, which is a lovely mid pink colour. The bottle is clear and slightly curvy. It has the Beauty UK logo on it and the words Plump and Pout Gloss contains maxi lip. I'm not really sure what maxi lip is but I assume its something to do with the plumping part...

...I am a complete sucker when it comes to cheap makeup. I have 2 rules though - 1. it has to be good quality, and 2. it can't be tested on animals. I was absolutley thrilled when I found Beauty UK eye shadow products because they ticked all the boxes for me!
My first thoughts on the Beauty UK display when I entered Superdrug was that i was a bit put off by it. The stand itself...
