Mark Hall, frontman of the award-winning mega group Casting Crowns, will publish 'The Well: Why Are So Many Still Thirsty?' with Zondervan. The newest book from the platinum selling lead singer will hit retailers this September. In addition to his music, Hall has been the student minister at Eagle's Landing Baptist Church outside of Atlanta for the past 18 years. With co-writer and fellow pastor Tim Luke (author of books such as Your Own Jesus), Hall uses the powerful story of the Woman at the Well and her encounter with Jesus to help readers understand why life often seems so unsatisfying. What many believers consider wells that sustain them - like success, talent, control and favour - are really just holes that keep them from relying upon Jesus and the abundant, refreshing life He offers. Steven Curtis Chapman says, "I love Mark Hall's heart. When he writes, whether it's a song or a book, it's always from the heart of a gifted teacher and an earnest friend. This book is another rich example of that, and I've been ministered to deeply as I've read it." 'The Well' ties into the release of Casting Crowns' newest album releasing this autumn, 'Come To The Well'. ... less

~ * Sweeney Hall * ~
Advantages: Staff, Service, Price, Atmosphere
Disadvantages: NONE!
...The Sweeney Hall Hotel is located on the outskirts of Oswestry. It's located on the bypass by Morda; simply turn off the bypass and down the Sweeney Hall Hotel lane - you can see it from the road. It was night time when we visited and we could see the hotel and its grounds beautifully lit up with it's golden lights. It certainly looked very inviting and magical. There is a car park; it is quite big and there was plenty of room to park. You wouldn't think that the hotel was located right by the main road as you can't hear the traffic which is good. The hotel has beautiful grounds (consisting of fields full of sheep) which I think adds to the whole 'country house' thing. On arrival we were greeted by a member of staff who then gave us menus. There was an option of a 'set 3 course menu' or an al la carte m...

Creepy Hall
Advantages: It is very entertaining
Disadvantages: Maybe too long
...I have read a book called the Secret of Crickley Hall by James Herbert. I have read other books by this author and have enjoyed them all but I think this one is the best one so far. It is not horrific but an old fashioned ghost story which I seem to be reading a lot of now I am older and feeling braver.
The book is very long because it contains over 600 pages but once I started it I was engrossed in the stroyline and the plot and the characters were very believable and I was able to relate to them very well.
The story is about a family of four who move into a very old Gothic style house called Crickley Hall. There is a father and a mother and two female children aged five years and twelve years. The family had another child but it died the year before and the mother suffers from depression due to this. I was able to relate to...

Wolf Hall
Advantages: see review
Disadvantages: see review
...I have always been interested in Tudor history and have read many books about the period, both fiction and non fiction. Last Christmas I was pleased to be given a copy of Hilary Mantels Wolf Hall, the acclaimed man booker prize winner for 2009. With 650 pages this is a heavy weight of a novel, so I decided to save reading it until I had time to really do it justice during my summer holiday.
The novel covers a period of just 10 years and deals with the life and times of Thomas Cromwell and the power, politics and religion of the time. Historically there is little known about Cromwell?s early life and the novel paints a picture of a miserable childhood at the hands of a violent blacksmith father. The novel skips quickly to 1527 when Cromwell is about 40 years old. Reference is made to the missing years spent in Europe, in the form...
