...feeling in the middle of something and not being able to leave the book. For me the book's ending was quite obvious and as such 50 pages from the end I felt I knew what would happen, as I think all Reacher novels finish the same way. I did have to read it though to confirm this was the case. As you can guess your star is going to solve the case and not get killed but kill or bring to justice all the bad guys. I suppose that is obvious. A feature I liked was at the end of the book there was a kind of short epilogue, even if it wasn't called that, which allowed you to see what had happened to all the books main characters. I would have liked a little more depth to this however. A further good touch was at the end of the book. Absolutely none, the accident happened over three weeks ago now and the hard drive has not suffered in any way at all. I purchased this hard drive purely to use to transfer huge amounts of data and programmes from my PC to one of my friends who lives over 200 miles from me. I honestly thought the hard drive would be barely used after that but have found myself using it in many ways for my work as a professional photographer. I would it`s fair to say be lost without it now. I purchased this piece of equipment in December of last year (2007) at the cost of £105 from Amazon.com, it can now be found for as little as £90 in certain places on line including Dabs.com. Advantages: One of the best DVD sets available
Disadvantages: Not out in the UK, only for us multi-regionners (On way though)

...anyone not know about Die Hard?) the film focussed on Lieutenant John McClane of the New York Police Department. On a trip to L.A. to see his estranged wife Hollie and his kids at Christmas, McClane inadvertently becomes the centre of a terrorist plot to raid a vault at Hollie’s workplace, the Nakatomi Building in L.A. The film spawned the inevitable sequel, a rehash of sorts with a similar plot but a new setting. After that McClane went away for a few years before returning to our screens in a third instalment. The third was a different take on the Die Hard style, and was a fitting way to return the series to the screen. Advantages: Very evocative mood, the usual great characters.
Disadvantages: Not very exciting, if you must have excitement.

...In some ways, Hard Times isn't altogether my cup of tea. I tend to prefer Dickens' contemporary Wilkie Collins to the man himself, possibly due to an infantile yearning for obvious 'excitement' as I read. And Hard Times is about as far from Collins that Dickens gets: very little 'action' as such and a large amount of social comment. However, I find the book absolutely absorbing, compulsive reading. The reader doesn't turn the pages to find out what happened so much as simply for the pleasure of reading. In terms of Dickens' work, I rate it below Oliver Twist and above A Tale of Two Cities. In Hard Times, Dickens creates a set of characters based in a 'typical' industrial town, taking the spectrum of social class from the workers to their employers, taking in circus artists, a schoolmaster and a washed-up ex-aristocrat along...
