WWF Hardy Boyz
Review of Hardy Boys by
Marshwwf316
Advantages: -
Disadvantages: -
...The Hardy Boyz;
Matt and Jeff, The Hardyz for short. They go under their real names which is something which you don't see too often in the world of wrestling but they are straight up with their name and clearly they are straight up with their aerial ability!
These two men will take evey chance in the book to get the win and to entertain the fans along the way! ; whether its Matt's Leg Drop or Jeff's Swanton Bomb the result is usually the end of the match, oh yeah - and a pretty damn good pop too!
These two brothers are great bumpers, they can bump off ladders, into tables and chairs, as was proved by the Tables and Ladsders and Chairs match (oh my) as well as compete in hardcore matches they can do it all!
Jeff is slightly more aerial and risk taking than Matt, but Matt is slightly bigger and so it equals out nicely...

Reason why Laural & Hardy are great #1.
Review of Laurel And Hardy - No. 11 - Saps At Sea And Music Shorts DVD by
findyourfoto
Advantages: Classic comedy.
Disadvantages: The last Laurel and Hardy film made at the Hal Roach Studio.
...Each and every film Laurel and Hardy made (together) is a reason for their greatness. Each film, no matter how long or shot, displays a glimpse into their comedic talents as a double act. As Im sure many will know, the Laurel & Hardy films find Stan Laurel (the thin one) and Oliver Hardy (the larger of the pair) getting themselves into all sorts of trouble whilst portraying some superbly conceived, if not often far fetched, storylines. There is no continuation of plot between the films even though they always take on there real names in each (altough Stans real name is actually Arthur). Instead, each film or "short" finds the pair in completely different situations with often quite specific tasks to perform as the basis for the plot. Whats more, these tasks are usually so mundane and simple that the hillarity of the inappropriate...

...in on another extension.
Stan must now try to outwit his wife!, Escape from the house with a bottle of booze and then go on to meet Ollie at the club.
But his wife replaces the booze with cold tea, spices and hot chilli, and then re-corks the bottle.
Well, you can probably guess the rest.
Mrs Laurel turns up at the club with a double barrelled shot gun!
Be Big.
~~~~~
Both the Laurel and the Hardy families are packing for a holiday,
But then a call comes from their 'Lodge' and Stan and Ollie must trick their wives and get away to their club.
Ollie feigns illness and the women go on ahead with the boys promising they will catch them up later.
This film contains the 'horse riding boots', where Stan tries to help Ollie into HIS (Stans) boots by mistake and then they cannot get them back off, wrecking half the house in the process.
The boys...
Something Different From Hardy
Review of Two On A Tower - Thomas Hardy by
DoubleFantasy11
Advantages: Passionate, unique
Disadvantages: The ending isn't as 'satisfying' as it could be
...Two On A Tower must be one of the most under-rated of Thomas Hardy's novels. Whilst it's not perhaps the same standard as Tess of the D'Urbervilles and The Woodlanders, it's still a fantastic novel and it's a shame that most people have never heard of it. It's hard to compare it to Hardy's better-known works, as I can't quite put my finger on all the differences - the passion and realism is still there, but in a different way than it is in Jude The Obscure or Tess.
Two On A Tower is essentially the age-old love story between two people whose circumstances presents a social barrier, in this case class and an older woman being the issues, but Hardy's skill elevates it. The novel was written in 1882, ten years after Hardy's first published novel, and his experience already shows. Some writers are simply a pleasure to read and, in my...
Hardy's Masterpiece
Review of Tess of the D'Urbervilles - Thomas Hardy by
jeffe
Advantages: Great characters and descriptions of setting
Disadvantages: Some parts are boring, depressing
...'Tess of the D'Urbervilles', one of Hardy's eleven novels, is considered as one of his better works throughout his career as a novelist. The book was first published in 1891 under the name 'A Pure Woman' and received a mixed reception.
The book is currently in my English 'A' Level syllabus and with good reason too. From it we can appreciate how important effective characterisation is and obviously we can see how Hardy's views on such topics as fate are communicated through his books.
The story is set in the bleak and forbidding Dorset landscape (South West England), referred to as 'Wessex' (this was actually the name used for the Ancient Anglo Saxon kingdom of King Alfred) in the novel. Almost all of Hardy's fiction is set here. As critical readers will notice, each different place in the story is associated with different...
Hardy's best story
Review of Tess of the D'Urbervilles - Thomas Hardy by
superstar181818
Advantages: Brilliant plot and characters
Disadvantages: lengthy, incongrous descriptions
...Tess of the D'urbervilles is a plot revolving around the impressive landscapes of Wessex, where Hardy set most of his novels, and the eponymous heroine; Tess Durbeyfield.
The book is highly saturated with Hardy's lengthy descriptions yet gives a wonderful social commentary of contemporary 'Hardy' Wessex and the trials he put his heroine through.
At a young age Tess is thrown into adulthood when her parents believe themselves to be descendants of the oldest family in Wessex ,thought to have died out. She gives birth to an illegitimate child and is condemned by society.
The story is well written, however it is obvious how Hardy relied heavily on chance as many of the tragedies in Tess's life occurred only through a series of small flukes. On the other hand, the character of Tess is so well conceived and real that it is hard not to feel...
How to win an Oscar, by Laurel and Hardy
Review of Laurel And Hardy - The Music Box DVD by
findyourfoto
Advantages: Oscar winning comedy.
Disadvantages: Some may find the scenario boring.
...Yes, you read title correctly. This comedy short by the infamous pair won an Academy Award for "Best Comedy Short Subject" 1931 - 1932. Laurel and Hardy were so good at what they did that it was really only a matter of time during their film making days before they were rewarded with such prize. Indeed to many hardend fans it is a mystery why they weren't at least nominated for more Oscars. Well, in fact they were nominated once again a few years later in 1935 for another short, "Tit for Tat", but alas, they were only to ever take home the one gong.
What is this one about?
---------------------------------
This has to be one of the greatest concepts for a comedy of this kind. To say the storyline documents the efforts of the double act in carrying a piano in a box (hence the music box) up a flight of stairs, sounds like a gross...
