The Heights of Literature
Review of Wuthering heights - Emily Bronte by
kamallan
Advantages: A classic novel that impress peole with your variety of reading materials
Disadvantages: a slightly contrived ending
...As many of you know, I have a great love of literature. Not just the current best sellers but children's classic, adult's classics, text books and many more genres. However, when studying my A2 literature I found that the books lost a lot of the appeal that they once held. Therefore I am pleased to say that I didn't read the classic Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte until just the other day. I had read Charlotte Bronte's Jane Eyre and fell in love at once with Mr Rochester, all of the Austen novels, falling in love at once with Mr Darcy and many of the other Victorian type novels, mostly for pleasure but with the mind that they would help for comparison of texts of the era when I sat the dreaded exam for the worst book I have ever read, Tess of the D'Urbevilles.
Now leaving the dreary subject of Tess with her many signs of ill fate...

Wuthering Heights
Review of Wuthering heights - Emily Bronte by
emuku
Advantages: Classic Story, Strong characters. Classics often cheap.
Disadvantages: Difficult language. Some complications
...Wuthering Heights is a book about people. It’s a soap opera in the lives of two households in early 19th century northern England and is one of those books that you just have to read.
It’s often mistaken for a love story telling the story of the famous romance between Catherine and Heathcliff. That was one of the mistakes I made. Although there is a relationship explored between these two characters, it’s by no means the main aspect of the story. Emily Brontë explores a range of issues in this book which were obvious key aspects of life at this time. Ideas such as inheritance rights, relationships, marriages and death are all dealt with and a range of options given to the reader. This although may make the story itself perhaps seem slightly weak as it appears to deal with too much almost, it’s an outstanding...

Wuthering Heights reveiw
Review of Wuthering heights - Emily Bronte by
Ella.x
Advantages: lots of action, and cleverly written,an amazing peice of english
Disadvantages: long words, starts off slow, its helpfull if you can read between the lines
...Wuthering Heights a deliberately shocking, gothic genre novel which was published in 1847 by Emily Bronte hasnt always been one the greatest love stories written although you would think so after reading it.The exciting and shocking action was to much for the Victorian public to take in!
Bronte cleverly reflects the characters through the two contrasting worlds of Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange allthroughout the book for all you english fanatics ,but also for those who just want sheer entertainment the story starts off slow in an isolated location where you would imagine that nothing interesting could ever happen, however you will be impressed when the two houses clash like yellow and purple ,leading to a love that destroys everyone it touches.Personnally i enjoyed all aspects of the book ,being a person who seeks...

Western Heights in Dover- A great day out
Review of Dover Western Heights by
mad.man.560
Advantages: Good view and good open days
Disadvantages: Not well advertised!
...The Dover Western Heights is one of the positive places on Dover. It is currently under restoration with fund raising days which double up as open days where you get to see reenactments of Wars and fights. It is also a very nice place to walk around as you can admire the wonderful view of Dover and its ports. The open days are not very well advertised so it is advised that you look online rather than asking people for details. Restoration has already began with stairs being refitted and also buildings being made safe to go in. All of this is put together by nice willing teams of everyday people ranging from prison officers to doctors! THere also is a nature wwalk around the site so it can be very relaxing. It really is a nice day out for all the family!...

the height of callousness takes over
Review of Height Of Callousness, The (Limited Edition) - Spineshank by
loosing_faith
Advantages: song upon song of glorious headbanging metal
Disadvantages: neighbours
...having been to hmv, i discovered a magazine that i thought would help my goal of getting more violent music which i at the moment want. the magazine was metal hammer and with it came a cd with music. i listened to it a few times and suddenly discovered a really cool song on it. the song was transparent. i then saw synthetic on mtv2 (since the other music channels have been overtaken by mad ten year old girls), this ,i must say, was an amazingly, fastpaced song. i decided to buy their new album "the height of callousness". not a bad descision seeing how the album explodes with power and force out of any speakers.
the first song, "asthmatic", is so incredibly mettally and fast, it really is a good song to kick the album off. the album is then followed by song after song of glorious headbanging metal. YEAH!!! with such great songs...

Emily Bronte's Great Story Of Hate
Review of Wuthering heights - Emily Bronte by
Mattroberts
Advantages: See Review
Disadvantages: See Review
...Wuthering Heights is a tragic love story, and has even been labelled “Emily Bronte’s great story of hate.” And in a way, that’s true. Almost every character has a love/hate relationship, and isn’t scared of showing that hatred. Such hatred that isn’t normal in a person. Heathcliff is shattered after the death of his love, and the hate he shows towards people in the book isn’t normal, and is rather disturbing
Emily was brought up in the moors, and this is the setting for Wuthering Heights. She was brought up with her two sisters - Charlotte (The Professor, Jane Eyre) and Anne – (The Tenant Of Widfell Hall, Agnes Grey) and her brother Branwell. Her two other sisters had died young, and her Mother a year after Anne’s birth. This just shows the tragedy and loss that Emily went...
