The Hills Have Eyes 2 - Watch Something Else!
Review of The Hills Have Eyes 2 DVD by
burns2007
Advantages: Not Much
Disadvantages: Everything
...Introduction
**************
Usually I find that I can watch almost any film and enjoy it within reason buy with the Hills Have Eyes 2 I hated it.
This movie is another attempted horror slash people dyeing mindlessly like so many other movies have delivered before. I don't think it's offering anything new or special.
Storyline
**********
The movie begins with National Guard soldiers training in a desert scene in America. On their way back from training they have to stop off at a restricted area to drop off some equipment where research is being conducted. When they arrive they find that there is no one around except for a signal on a radio coming from the hills. They split into two teams where most of the soldiers go into the hills and two are left behind to stay at camp and keep guard, attempting to call for help on the radio...

Do the hills have eyes?
Review of The Hills Have Eyes DVD by
kineticspade
Advantages: great special effects and story
Disadvantages: none
...to leave their homes, and were exposed to dangerous levels of radiation. The miners went to the mines and survived, but their newborn children were genetically altered. The children are now adults, and to survive in the desert, they murder and rob tourists going through the desert. They are not only insane murderers, but they have become bloodthirsty cannibals. The Carter family has an accident in the desert, and they are about to become the next victims. Would there be any survivors?
The soundtrack
-----------------------
The soundtrack, I would not say plays a major part in the film, they do have plenty of songs, but in all honesty I was that engrossed in the film, that I never really realised the music in the background. Although they did play the music that makes a film seem that little bit scarier, and a bit more nervous at what...

The Hills Have A Remake
Review of The Hills Have Eyes DVD by
atytyut2434
Advantages: dark and creep
Disadvantages: too dull to be very scary
...CONTAINS SPOILERS!
I've not seen the original so I won't be comparing this to that. Apart from the minor scare and the guy killing the 2 scientists at the start this is really boring for a very VERY long time. The travellers dog gets killed (we see nothing apart from it's body) and then not much happens. We're almost 40 mins into the film where their truck is sabotaged by the hill people (they use a stinger on it) and then lots of not much happens.
The dad of the family walks back to the truck stop and the son-in-law finds a vehicle graveyard in a crater (and really should have sussed what was happening by then, it's totally obvious). The truck stop owner kills himself and the dad of the family is caught by the hill people and things actually finally start to happen. The son-in-law returns to the camper and the families second dog...

The Lucky Ones Died First
Review of The Hills Have Eyes DVD by
LostWitness
Advantages: Great idea
Disadvantages: Dated, shabby movie that fails to scare.
...with the two daughters, the elderly mother, the young baby and two dogs, charmingly named Beauty and The Beast. With some trepidation, the two men set off, leaving Danny, the youngest in charge.
What they don't realise is that they are all being watched by several pairs of eyes. Hungry, savage eyes that never miss an opprtunity to prey on the helpless. And with the group separated into three, they are suddenly rich pickings. The hills may not really have eyes, but there are those who lurk within the caves and rocks who certainly do - and they are fixated on what would appear to be their next meal….
I'm not going on holiday in America ever again. Well, I'm not driving more than 100 metres out from any city centre. It seems pretty clear to me that your chances of survival in the American countryside range from slim to nil. If you don't get...

Remakes Don't Always Fail!
Review of The Hills Have Eyes DVD by
sghawken
Advantages: A much needed update of an original story.
Disadvantages: Uneeded padding on the DVD
...In 1977 Wes Craven became a horror movie legend after bringing his tale of desert cannibals to the screen. The Hills Have Eyes, was released, censored, censored again; and then banned in the UK before being re-released 2 years later. In 2005 Wes Craven was confronted with the idea of re-telling the story, and although he wanted to be deeply involved he did not want to direct the tale. The question is; is the 2006 version as good as the 1977 version?
During a long hot summer a family decide to take a holiday on the road together, the holiday is also to celebrate Big Bob and Ethel (the parents) wedding anniversary. They stumble across a service station, where they meet the slightly backwards owner. Through an unfortunate series of events the owner has reason to suspect that the family may be on to his little secret; this is cemented...

Eye to Eye
Review of Martha Hill Eye Contour Balm by
aspebbles
Advantages: Excellent moisturiser for area around eye
Disadvantages: None
...Martha Hill is an unusual company, in that it runs mail order and online beauty products under its own name. These products are all based on natural ingredients in recyclable packaging, which fortunately these days may not be all that unusual, but...they have been doing this for 30 years!
The catalogue describes this eye cream as 'light and moisturising' with herbal ingredients designed to nourish and protect the skin around your eyes.
The key consituents are listed as elderflower, cucumber, witch hazel and allontin (I am familar with all except the last item).
The cucumber and witchhazel are good for soothing puffiness, but it is also for moisturing, especially on lines around the eye area. It is one of their bestsellers, and a 15ml jar costs £4.40, and the 30ml jar is £7.30.
I have also tried the Body Shop Vitamin E eye...

America destroying America
Review of The Hills Have Eyes DVD by
emre.nufc
Advantages: enjoyable Wes Craven film
Disadvantages: hasn't dated well
...Again this is another one from my days at uni. :)
-------------------------
The Hills Have Eyes is from 1977 and was directed by Wes Craven, it centres around a retired policeman Bob Carter (Robert Houston), his wife, who along with their two daughters and their husbands drive out into the Arizona desert to visit the silver mine that he has just inherited. But on their way they have an accident in their car and are stranded in a place they do not know. As night closes in they become the prey of a family of cannibals living in the hills.
There have been many comparisons between this film and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. They both have a very similar theme, a group of innocent people accidentally stumbling across a crazed backward family who survive by preying on others. Humanity in both is completely powerless as no-one has...

Much of the same
Review of The Hills Have Eyes 2 DVD by
paulhanton
Advantages: Good special effects, some funny bits
Disadvantages: Not scary, formulaic
...I have rewritten this review as someone pointed out from my earlier review that it was in the wrong category (I have asked Ciao to remove it).
The hills have eyes 2 is pretty much the same format as before, mutants living in mines in the desert, killing anyone that wanders near. I rented the film from Blockbusters.
Slight twist in that they also want females to 'breed' with as so many of their numbers are depleted, a good way of explaining away that in the first film they were pretty much wiped out.
I loved the hills have eyes 1, as it was a pretty good remake of the original, this was not so good, certainly not as 'edgy' and definitely less original and more formulaic.
Okay, the basic plot is that some National Guard bods go into the desert into a restricted area to deliver some scientific equipment to people working there...

Someone's watching me
Review of The Hills Have Eyes DVD by
blackman007
Advantages: Emile de Ravin
Disadvantages: A lot of US soap acting
...The Hills Have Eyes
Again another remake of a 70's horror flick following in the tradition of Dawn of the Dead, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Amityville Horror (to name a few) has hit our screens. This time however, the difference is the very talented Alexandre Aja, who came to prominence with the blood-splattered but brilliant Switchblade Romance. With Zack Snyder's remake (or if you like re-imagined) aforementioned Dawn of the Dead being the pick of the bunch, will Aja's effort from Wes Craven's original live up to expectation?
Countless nuclear experiments conducted by the US government in the New Mexico desert, emitting high levels of radiation mutated the DNA of the families nearby causing them to bear offspring severely affected by these tests. This however was not the only side-effect. It somehow turned these people...

lots of gore
Review of The Hills Have Eyes 2 DVD by
peteandcesca
Advantages: good for those who like to watch gore type horror
Disadvantages: not as good as first
...After watching ''the hills have eyes'' last year and really enjoying it i decided to go out and purchase the sequel recently ''the hills have eyes 2'' on dvd. The film cover alone tells you that it should be just as gory as the first and i wasn't expecting any less from this film!
The film is directed by Martin Weisz and the screenplay was actually written by Wes Craven and his son Jonathan Craven (Wes Craven was the writer and director of the original version in 1977).
I thought at first that the film might follow on from the first but, it doesn't connect with the first at all really - it's just adequate enough to know from the end of the first to know that not all the mutants dies so therefore they manged to live on! The opening sceen is of a women giving birth to one of these mutants whilst she is tied up which is only...
