Choice Hotels in Blackpool

Advantages: Well appointed,clean, kids club,spacious,good food,friendly staff
Disadvantages: None

...I know, I know, Blackpool is perceived as fish'n'chips, bucket and spades, amusement arcades, B&B's. What about something different? Choice Hotels in Blackpool run 3 hotels - The Claremont (near the North Pier), the Talk of The North (near South Pier) and the Cliffs Hotel (North Promenade just up from Gynn Square). My family and I have stayed at the Cliffs Hotel on 6 occasions, ranging from weekend breaks to full weeks. Why? The hotel is large and well appointed - it has a 1920's feel about the facade and interior and is very clean and spacios. There are 5 bars and a large resturant. The food is excellent with a very good selection - the staff are very helpful and friendly. There is a well appointed leisure club - free to residents. It has a pool, jacuzzi, small but very good gym, sauna, sunbeds and a leisure club bar. It...

Our Blackpool Trip

Advantages: Excellent staff - especially at breakfast, reception staff especially Stewart also very helpful and friendly
Disadvantages: Food was basic, parking - got blocked in and could not move our own car!

...Me, my Mum, my Brother and my boyfriend all set off for a family trip to Blackpool. Attracted by the Cliffs facilities for the money we decided on booking it. Well we were extremely happy, I strongly advised entering the basement, kids soft play area, table tennis, arcade games, pool, snooker, swimming pool and gym! You'd never believe it would all fit down there! The rooms were clean, the toilets would have been too small to sit on if I was a few dress sizes bigger!! The food at breakfast was fresh and hot but was limited. The only disappointment is when we found our car blocked in as other guests had not left their keys at reception. It was ridiculous that we wouldn't move our own car!! However the hotel did try it's best and transported us themselves to and from the restaurant we had intended to eat at. Overall great fun...

The Leas Cliff Hall

Advantages: Lots of shows to choose from, excellent security
Disadvantages: None

...I have been to the Leas Cliff Hall on several occasions to watch bands such as Embrace and Pink Floyd tribute bands. I have also attended the musical Fame at this location. The Leas Cliff Hall There is one main arena at the Leas Cliff Hall and this consists of a large stage, with an open hall area in front on it. At the back of the hall, there are stairs which lead to upper stalls although the seating is fairly limited with only two rows all the way round. During the concerts that I have attended, there have been no seats laid out and visitors are left to stand in the large open hall area where they can view the band on stage. The only seating available is the higher seating around the outside of the hall. When I attended the musical Fame, the Leas Cliff Hall had been laid out in a completely different style. Rows of seats had been...

HOTEL, GUEST HOUSE, B & B or CIAO MEMBERS HOME?

Advantages: Position. Carol & Pete's Hospitality. The Bacon.
Disadvantages: The Sea Wall. Invisible Windmill........read on.......

...afternoon, we have driven up from Brighton, stopping at an old favourite (no longer - it had changed hands) pub for a late lunch just outside of Blackburn, on the way. Before going to sleep, an early night prior to starting my business rounds in the morning, I penned (yes, with a genuine fountain pen!) the following impressions. "There's a man lives over the fish and chip shop thinks he's Elvis"???. ??..well maybe not quite, but over a Blackpool fish and chip shop you will find the "Texas Steak House", and over the Texas Steak House you'll find The Windmill Hotel. Hotel, B&B, Guest House or Ciao members' home? Well, in truth maybe it is just a little of all four, most importantly really, having now had the privilege of staying there, the latter I think. This place is Carol and Pete's home, in a very real sense an extension of their...

Bempton Cliffs, East Yorkshire

Advantages: A lovely natural wonder, lots of wildlife
Disadvantages: Not fully accessible for disabled visitors, admission charges

...Bempton Cliffs can be found on the east coast of Yorkshire just outside the small village of Bempton, which is off the Bridlington to Flamborough road. This whole area is now a nature reserve that is owned and managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB). There can be few people that have been here that can deny that Bempton Cliffs are a spectacular sight. They are characterised by their chalk-white appearance and they rise vertically from the sea to the cliff tops. They are just as impressive from the top of the cliffs looking downwards as they are from below looking upwards. These limestone sea cliffs stretch for over 3 miles (5 kilometres) and have an average height of 86 metres above sea level. They are the highest sea cliffs in England and they are home to one of the largest sea bird colonies in the British...

Calling all Cliff Richard Fans.

Advantages: lovely christmassy songs
Disadvantages: he has re mixed a lot of them

...Mum has always been interested in Cliff since I can remember and we were brought up on how in the 60s she would wear her cardigan back to front as a low backless top as they could not afford a proper one. A few years ago my mums dream came true and she went to see Cliff in his musical. They had really posh seat and my step father was not impressed when mum all of sudden turned into a school girl of the 60s and started to scream and shout. Mum always said it was her dream come true and does not know what over come her, but we all have dreams and crushes as kids and parents still have them too. Well what better Christmas Present could I get her other than Cliff at Christmas. I bought this today from good old Woolworths together with 3 other different cds for Christmas presents and currently they have a buy one get the other half...

Home made food at Marangu Hotel

Advantages: Friendly staff, home made food, serious about their business as tour guides
Disadvantages: A bit out of town

...and it normally started with soup. From there it moved on to a starter, then to the main course and from there to dessert and cheese/crackers. It was normally a pretty filling meal and it was possible to take as much as one wanted. It was very tasty and it was really home cooking style food. And you don?t find many hotels were someone walks through the garden and rings a bell when dinner is ready to be served :-) You can also have lunch at the hotel of course and it was pretty cheap?for 500 Tanzanian shillings you can get a portion of fries, 1500 shillings will give you a portion of fries and an omelet. The hotel also features a big and wonderful garden. It seems like everything blooms here from the smallest bushes to the biggest trees. Around the garden chairs and tables can be found so it is possible to have a cold drink outside in...

The Strand Palace Hotel

Advantages: Central location, clean
Disadvantages: Food, rooms

...We stayed at this hotel in London a little over a month ago now for two nights, we chose this hotel mainly because of the central location and because it was only a ten minuite walk from the show we had booked to go too. Check in was very quick - About ten minuites and the staff at the reception seemed very friendly. My first thoughts on the hotel was that it looked really clean and that it was nicely decorated and it looked modern. I was a little dissapointed with our room as it was very small and basic, our room had a double bed, tea and coffee making facilities, a tv with satellite and a small, basic en suite bathroom with a shower. The views from our room very very poor - A block of offices which made our room dark as they were so close. The hotel has two bars and two resturaunts, the bars were again nicely decorated...

Treak Cliff Cavern In The Peak District!

Advantages: Fantastic Experience
Disadvantages: Not Easily Accessible, Expensive

...Treak Cliff Cavern can be found on the fringe of Derbyshire's Peak District town of Castleton. Cutting deep into the limestone hillside this is actually one of four different Cave systems that penetrate this impressive landscape. This landscape and the Caves were formed between 350 and 300 million years ago when this whole area was submerged under the sea. Treak Cliff Cavern is perhaps the least known of Castleton's Caves, although it still attracts many thousands of visitors each year. This may have something to do with the fact that it is the least accessible and it is also much smaller than Peak Cavern, the largest Cave here and the Blue John Cavern. Castleton's other Cave, Speedwell Cavern benefits from having an entrance directly next to the road and also has the added appeal of being flooded by water, meaning that a trip into...

Home Alone

Advantages: Comdey none stop
Disadvantages: None

...Home Alone, was a classic hit comedy film that was first released in 1991. Even in my adulthood, I am more than happy to watch the film again, and when I was a kid I use to remember watching this film a hundred times during the Christmas holidays and summer holidays. It was such a feel good family fun film; it was the sort of film that even if you?ve watched it once you would never gets bored watching it over and over again. Plot: The film opens with the entire McCallister family packing for their Christmas vacation to France. The family is exceptionally big, some 30 plus including adults. Kevin McCallister the youngest in the family needs help packing his luggage, the older kids simply don?t have the time or the patience to help him, he feels left out and unwanted, just like most teenagers. A patrol police man Harry played by Joe...
