JACOBS CREAM CRACKERS
Advantages: lovely with cheese
Disadvantages: makes you eat too much cheese!
...I am very partial to a bit of cheese and the nicest way to eat it apart from on its own, is with some Jacobs Cream Crackers.
Jacobs Cream Crackers were originally created in 1885 and are currently owned/produced by United Biscuits. They are the fastest selling cracker in the UK and Jacobs is the number 1 name in crackers.
PACKAGING
++++++++++
Described briefly as there is no picture at the top. If I can find one I will add it at the end. The packaging is mostly orange, with black writing on it. There are a couple pictures of crackers on the packaging. (Just to give you an idea of what to look out for on the biscuit shelf).
LOOK OF THE CRACKER
+++++++++++++++++++++
The cracker is brown and cream in colour. It is square and about 52 by 52, about the size of a post-it note. It is slightly flatter on one side, then...

Jacob's the only biscuits for cheese!
Advantages: inexpensive.
Disadvantages: Loses freshness once opened
...Every now and again I get fed up of having sandwiches and opt for cream crackers instead. I always tend to buy a small selection box so there is a variety of different shaped and textured biscuits which is why I always buy Jacob?s Selection pack.
Now Jacob?s was established in 1885 and is part of the United Biscuit group based in the UK as well as Jacob Fruitfield Foods based in Eire.
Inexpensive
The crackers are in an orange and black cardboard box which when opened at the side reveals a dark brown, plastic moulded tray containing the crackers, a clear sealed plastic wrapper.
There are six varieties in the 200g box giving a good selection to chose from:-
Cream Cracker - this is the basic square cream/light brown coloured cracker. It is quite hard and crispy to eat but very dry on its own and is the classic Jacob?s cream cracker...

Jacobs Inn Is A Cracker
Advantages: close to transport links/city centre, cheap, friendly, clean
Disadvantages: Noise from other guests
...~What is Jacobs Inn~
Jacobs Inn is a Hostel, part of the Isaacs group and sister hostel to the Isaacs one which I have also reviewed here on Ciao. It is a three story stone fronted building, containing rooms which range from a two bed private room to a 10 bedded dorm.
~Where is it~
21-28 Talbot Place, Dublin 1, Republic of Ireland.
To describe the place where Jacobs Inn is pretty easy really, to your right is a police station, and to the left, a pub. Across the road to the right and into the next street is Busáras, Dublin’s bus station and also a stop for the LUAS (Tram Service), and across the road to the left and up a little, is Connelly station, a train, DART (Dublins InterCity trains), and LUAS station. So you pretty much have it all close to hand.
~Booking~
HostelWorld.com is the older way to book Jacobs Inn online...

A kick in the Jacobs
Advantages: good for morning sickness
Disadvantages: dry as a bone!
...I was browsing through the categories, as you do, and noticed that nobody had written anything on Jacobs Cream Crackers. I was truly amazed! Can nobody have anything to say on this truly British masterpiece?
I decided that I must try and write something on this truly boring food commodity. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind the odd cracker, but it needs to be smothered in butter and possibly something else.
Have you noticed that when you put out a cheese board the cream crackers are always the last biscuit to go? They are so dry and so messy! A tablecloth is a sight to behold when it has seen an attack of the killer crackers!
To be fair, they are wonderful when you are pregnant to ease morning sickness. Go on Sarah, give them a try! I got through packets of the things, completely dry, when I was having my own children. The secret...

A Lemony Creation from Jacob's
Advantages: Very moreish biscuits
Disadvantages: Rather overpriced
...Lemon Puffs have long been one of my favourite biscuits. Jacob's is probably the brand most commonly associated with Lemon Puffs here in the UK, but you will also see them sold under the 'Bolands of Ireland' brand in some shops. As far as I am aware - and I might be wrong - Jacob's and Bolands are one of the same company, and that Bolands is solely the name under which Lemon Puffs are sold in Ireland.
Let me tell you a bit more about them...
WHAT ARE LEMON PUFFS?
Lemon Puffs have been around for years and I'm sure most people have tried them at one time or other. As their name suggests, Lemon Puffs are sandwich-like biscuit creams, consisting of two lemon flavoured puff pastry biscuits and filled with a delicious lemon cream centre. The biscuits are covered in a sugary glaze, which gives them a wonderful golden brown appearance...

Unobjectionable Jacobs
Advantages: Fairly inexpensive, not too filling, looks attractive, nicer than a lot of biscuits
Disadvantages: Rather bland, disappointing as a chocolate bar
...I suppose I first ate Jacob's Club bars as a child. I certainly can't remember a time when I wasn't aware of them. They're the kind of thing that grandmothers or aunts would produce at tea-time, or possibly even elevenses, as a special treat for visiting children. As such, I ate them, and somewhat appreciated them, but with a typical child's attitude I rather took them for granted.
As I grew up, they were produced less and less frequently, and it's only relatively recently that I've become aware of them - and, indeed, sampled them - all over again... when they've been brought out for my own children by relatives, as tea-time treats!
* What does a Club bar look like? *
It's a smallish chocolate-covered biscuit bar, available in various flavours. The fruit one seems to be the preferred choice of our relatives. This has...

Jacob's creek dry riesling - heaven has been bottled
Advantages: cheap, clean and crisp
Disadvantages: cant really think of any.
... JACOB'S CREEK DRY RIESLING
The Jacob's creek winery
Born way back in 1847. when an immigrant to Australia by the name of Johann Gramp planted one of the first vineyards of the are. He planted upon the banks of Jacobs creek, and his simple ideals led to the creation of one of the largest exporters of good quality wine. Jacob's creek has become synonomus with quality, and value, and now exports to over sixty countries worldwide.
They create wines with the customer in mind. They wa=nt to produce a wine that allows the drinker to taste the fruit they planted. whatever the grape type (and they plant many varieties.), they want you to have a little bit of Australia in your glass. Your own little bit of Jacob's creek.
Riesling
The Riesling grape is about 20th in...

Crackers about Jacobs
Advantages: Make a good snack
Disadvantages: They are addictive
...Ok after just having a cup of coffee and a snack of crackers and cheese I thought hey lets do a review on cream crackers.
The original Cream Crackers have been made by Jacobs since 1885 and today in my opinion they are still the best crackers on the market, there are imitations around but none of them are as nice as Jacobs.
Jacobs are also the company who brought you other biscuits such as Club, Tuc and Twiglets.
The Cream Cracker packets are bright yellow with a black diamond in the middle with Jacobs Cream Crackers written inside the diamond in white.
Each cracker is square and aprox 6cm x 6cm and are light brown in colour with a light bubble type texture. I must warn you they do tend to make some crumbs.
I buy a 300g pack for the price of 49p and there are approx 40 crackers in that pack but beware usually I find...

Jacobs Cream Crackers - What do you want in your sandwich ;)
Advantages: Great taste, good price, lots for your money, not too unhealthy.
Disadvantages: None
...I adore cream crackers, I probably eat them pretty much everyday recently (not sure if that's necessarily a good thing - I'm a tad obsessed!).
You can purchase a 300g packet of Jacobs for around 60p. Cheaper cream crackers can be purchased but I think that Jacobs are the original and the best with their orange and black packaging which makes them stand out on the shelf and makes them instantly recognisable.
Cream crackers are made from wheat flour & yeast and are square in shape. They have small air holes all over them which are very precise so I guess that they must be done by a machine.
Each cracker is 34 calories and 1g of fat approximately which means that as a snack or even as part of a dessert cheese board these aren't too bad for you at all.
I love to eat these crackers with butter, marmite & ham or with some cheese...

Think Crackers then Think Jacobs
Advantages: Crisp. Tasty Versatile
Disadvantages: Flaky. Dont Eat Them in Bed
...Think Crackers? Think Jacob's ! That is what Danone, who are the owners of Jacob's tell us. On reflection too I think it is about right- stop half a dozen people in any High Street in Britain and ask them to name a cream cracker and the chances are they will come up with the name of Jacob's.
This household favourite is best described as a crisp, flaky, dry biscuit which uses no artificial colouring, flavouring or preservatives. It is suitable for both vegans and vegetarians.
They are good,I reckon, to nibble any time of the day. Jacob's can be eaten at breakfast time with a wedge of cheddar cheese ,a dash of Marmite, or with cottage cheese.Feeling peckish in the mid morning then try a Jacob's with a thin slice of cheddar processed cheese or a dash of cheap black caviar. Afternoon tea is OK for you to have a nice cream cracker...
