Advantages: Better than some straswberry jams

...As a treat this weekend I made some scones, nothing nicer than freshly baked scones strawberry jam and cream. Problem uh huhh I had no strawberry jam in the cupboard, no cream either but I did expect to find no cream. I went to our local shop only 3 minutes walk away. I bought some cream and looked at the range of jams, no choice really only one type of strawberry jams Hartley's. So I bought the jam it cost me£1.14p... Now Hartley's is an ok brand of jam usually fairly good. Hartley's jam is now part of the large premier food brand and available in a lot of stores. The jam I bought was their best their Best everyday jam .This jam comes in quite an attractive shaped jar. with a red strawberry designed label with the Hartleys logo and Best srawberry jam written on it. ...The Bonne Maman Jam is absolutely a must try.Nothing compares to a good slice of bread and butter and topping it with a thick layer of the Bonne Maman Jam. They are available in various flavours but I personally prefer the strawberry or Apricot one. It is of course made with real fruits and I don't know why but when you eat it or even when you see the pot, it reminds me of jam grandmothers use to make with their own fruits. The pot in fact is just a simple one with a checked red cap.The name Bonne Maman is a french one meaning good mother. Whenever I look at it, I think about the countryside and how the fruits are picked and are ready to be cooked for to make the jam. The jam also has a very natural taste where you can actually taste the ripe fruits and the sweetness of it.I alsways have a pot of Bonne Maman jam in my fridge... Read review

...I was in the middle of baking a Victoria sponge cake when I realised, I didn't have enough strawberry jam. My neighbour came to my aid, and gave me a Jar of Hartley's Best Strawberry jam. She told me not to worry about returning the jar or purchasing another as she got it on offer at Tesco's, 2 jars for £1.50p. Normally the price for a 340g jar is £1.06p. Thank god for friends and neighbours. I normally buy the cheaper brands of strawberry jam for baking. Having a large family the food disappears very quickly. After tea, I served everyone with a piece of cake with the sweet jam oozing out of the sides. (we like the cake still warm) with added custard or fresh cream. On eating the cake, I wasn't thinking of anything in particular, when I suddenly realised the rich strawberry smell and taste. The next mouthful had a strawberry piece... Read review

...I have observed over the years that many French visitors-and arent they supposed to know a thing or two about good food -buying up loads of British made jams,preserves and marmalades. This confirms what I have long believed,viz,that the British are excellent jam makers and few better than Manchester based, Robertson's. They make a great range of jams including the likes of Blackcurrant, Strawberry, Raspberry, Damson, Bramble Jelly,as well as wonderful marmalades and equally delicious Lemon Curd. My particular favourite is Blackcurrant closely followed by Raspberry. With all Robertson's jams you can rest assured there will be plenty of fruit in the jam and the product will be of high quality. ...A bike ride from where I live at Tiptree is the Wilkins & Son Jam Factory. Not only do they make their famous Jam but there is a shop where you can purchase all of their products and also a tea shop, excellent for a cream tea, or slice of gateau and a cup of coffee. There is also a museum which you are free to wonder round at no extra cost. They stock an enormous range of jams and marmalade, I have personally purchased the Rhubarb & Ginger, Orange & Malt Whiskey, in addition they also produce such items as Mustard, Honey, Tea, Christmas Puddings (which are just delicious, we brought these as gifts for clients last year, they make an excellent thankyou presents). A friend recently asked me to call and purchase a jar of their Greengage Jam as she said it is wonderful and eat nothing else, unfortunately they had sold the entire years... Read review

...Do you ever get more than a little bit sick of jam jam jam? No? Great, then this is the stuff for you! So I had run out of jam, and my toast was dry, so I scarpered off to Sainbury's and picked up a pretty little jar of St Dalfour Strawberry Spread, and another of Orange Spread (marmalade, luv). It's a measley £1.35 for a jar of 284 grammes, Sainsbury's stock it in four flavours: strawberry, orange, raspberry, and apricot. And it keeps for four months. But what's so good about it? Well, it appears to be extremely posh, so you can amaze your friends, (mine have named it "laura's posh jam"), but the best bit is that it contains no sugar. No sugar? But I thought the whole point of jam was sugar! Well yes, normally, but if you're desperately hanging onto your teeth and your waistband, why not try this brand? It's made in France... Read review

...My favorite is Strawberry but bothof them are yummy on toast. Strawberries are at their best and cheapest during summer. Strawberry Jam Yields: About 5lb/2 kg jam, Preparation time: 20 minutes Cooking time: about 1 hour. YOU WILL NEED. 3 and a half ib/1.5kg strawberries, 2 Lemons 3lb/1.25 kg white sugar. Hull the strawberries and place them in a cooking pan with the lemon juice,and the lemon rind and pith tied in a muslin bag. Heat very gently, stirring, until the juice begins torun. Simmer until the fruit is tender and the contents of the pan reduced. Add the sugar, stir until dissolved. Boil rapidly until setting point is reached*(see below for details). ...Bonne Maman jam. It’s a sunny summer’s Sunday afternoon let me invite you to an afternoon tea. We are sitting in the garden I am serving cups of hot tea freshly brewed and scones with cream and lashings of bonne maman strawberry jam, There is cricket playing on the village green you can just hear the sound of ball against wood. The scones are home made crumbly and tasting of butter. The jam a jar of bonne Maman Strawberry jam. The jam is a lovely red colour full of huge real whole strawberries in it. It is quite sweet but very strawberry tasting perfect to put on a scone or in a sandwich on fresh bread. No need to put it in a jam dish as it comes quite attractively packed in a jam jar with fluted edges with a red and white gingham checked lid, real country style. ...I can't help but be dissapointed with Pearl Jam by this album. As a huge fan, perhaps I expected a little too much from this self titled album (known to fans as 'Avocado'). OK, its not true to say there are no good songs on the album. 'World Wide Sucide' and 'Umemployable' are catchy almost poppy songs that get the crowd going but apart from these two I feel the album lacks inspiration. Songs like 'Marker in the Sand' make you wonder where Pearl Jam are headed, while the lyrics in all tracks are tiresomely political. On the music side of things, this is the shortest review i've ever written, but thats how this album leaves me - with little to remark upon. It just seems extremely average. The pack the cd comes in isnt exactly inspiring either, while the booklet with the song lyrics in for some reason smells foul and is extremely... Read review

...When it comes to buying jam, I'm not normally very adventurous. I generally tend to stick to well-known brands like Robertsons as their jams are always tasty and reasonably priced too. But now and again, I get the urge to try something different and recently I decided to try Bonne Maman Strawberry jam when I spotted it in the supermarket. What struck me most is that this is no ordinary jam. It not only looks different from most other makes but is actually not a jam at all; it's a 'conserve'. As you may have also guessed from the name, it is not made here in the UK. It is produced in a small town in France, called Biars. So what does the jar look like?
