He likes a bit of golf and had won £100 in vouchers to use at the Hilton chain, we like going to the Brighton Metropole so thought we'd try London for a change, visit the theatre, Soho and enjoy our own company. A nice hotel in a good location.
Advantages: Nice comfortable hotel in a lovely location.
Disadvantages: Very expensive to eat inside the hotel, don't bother!
...be too expensive finding somewhere half decent for 4 nights.
Searching throguh Expedia and Lastminute I actually found the Marriott Kensington to be one of the cheapest, but only because they had an offer, stay 2 nights and get 1 free! It can cost around £150 a night for this hotel so having the extra night was a huge bonus.

We went down to London on the train...

Advantages: Great location on the river Thames
Disadvantages: prices on the higher side
...I booked the Tower Hotel in London via www.lastminute.com at a price of £150 for one night room only. This was a discounted price; they normally charge around £100-£120 per standard room a night, but as this was the Olympics prices have been increased and therefore £150 was a discount price.
but bearing in mind the location of right next to tower bridge and it was the Olympics I felt it was fair...
