Advantages: Feels like I'm back in Vegas! Guitar heavy anthems
Disadvantages: As ever...not long enough!

...As somewhat of an a guitar based rock chick in my spare time, I have been a fan of The Killers since I first heard 'Somebody Told Me' on Radio 1 a number of years ago. The mix of edgy vocals teamed with complex guitar rhythms gave The Killers a spot in my heart which had previously been favoured by the Manic Street Preachers, a place which had only just been vacated because Nicky Wire had snubbed my attempts to get his autograph when I saw in a branch of Starbucks! The Killers are everything a 21st century band should be, edgy yet clean, twisted but not bitter, different yet appealing to the masses. There was something indescribable about my first encounter with The Killers and something that even now, on the second album, I can't quite put my finger on... So…Who makes up 'The Killers'? Advantages: Effortessly catchy, undeniably cool, slick and stylish
Disadvantages: Has it all been done before?

...Is there a dearth of ideas in modern rock music? It would seem to be the case given that the crop of hot new bands seem intent on recycling music from artists from a bygone era of dynamism and invention. The Bravery have based a whole album on Duran Duran cast-offs, Kaiser Chiefs seem like the band that Britpop forgot and Franz Ferdinand are heavily indebted to the angular art-rock sensibilities of bands such as Gang of Four and Talking Heads. The Killers, meanwhile, prove themselves to be masters of the art of recycling music from the Rock Box marked Cool Music 101, bringing in elements of the aforementioned Duran Duran, while throwing in dashes of Bowie, Britpop, Roxy Music, Blondie, Depeche Mode and The Cure. Advantages: Great Indie tracks! Understandable lyrics, good value, plenty of tracks!
Disadvantages: No lyrics written inside album sleeve but not a huge problem for me!

...The killers- who are they??? They are for me personally one of the best 'indie' bands to come out of America in 2005! Coming from Las Vegas these guys are: Brandon Flowers- Vox, synthesiser, Dave Keuning- Guitar, Mark Stoermer- Bass, Ronnie Vannucci- drums. I promise you that if you like indie/rock music you will love the killers! you can't go to an 'indie' night in England without hearing one killers track and at least half the crowd singing along at the tops of there voices and if you buy this album and like indie music you will soon be singing along! I even managed to get my Dad into the Killers and he loves elvis, queen and kylie. ...It was a pleasant surprise that in Nov 07 The Killers released their latest album, Sawdust. After the world wide success of their previous two offerings, Hot Fuss and Sam's Town, both of which had made it to the top of my iPod playlists, I was positively drooling with anticipation. I made the classic mistake of picturing it as a surefire winner before the first listen. I was left deflated, disappointed, frustrated and pondering into how the band can allow the record company release this album or how can the record company allow the band to. Whoever made the decision to release the album has clearly done it on a whim and it smacks of obnoxious arrogance. The naivety in Hot Fuss was endearing. The consistency of Sam's Town enduring. The cynical gap-filling of Sawdust has done nothing other than to provide ammunition to the people waiting... Read review

...Juliette Lewis’s role in “Natural Born Killers” was always bound to cause comparison with her role the previous year in “Kalifornia” and indeed make us wonder whether she was becoming typecast as the “serial killer sidekick”. But her role in this film, as Mallory Knox, is similar in circumstance only to that of the vulnerable, simple Adele Corners in the other film. The character could not be more different. Mallory has had a difficult childhood, abused by her father while her mother turned a blind eye. An end to her suffering is in sight when she meets Mickey Knox (Woody Harrelson), a meat delivery man, who has also endured an abusive childhood. The two fall in love at first sight, but their relationship comes to an abrupt end when Mickey goes to prison for a car theft. Mallory’s family move away and her father vows to let her... ...Dear readers, I have no remorse in recycling, I heard it's good for the enviroment, and whats good for the enviroment is good for me. In this case it saves my poor brain the time and effort to re-word what I wrote yesterday to use as a band bio peice for The Killers (in my review to the follow up of this album, "Sams Town" 3 stars out of 5). Advantages: David Carradine - Different Plot
Disadvantages: Weird

...I bought this DVD several months ago because it was cheap second hand in a video store, I bought it because David Carradine starred in it, and although I was not vastly aware of his work, I loved what he did in the Kill Bill movies. I never got round to watching it, that is, until tonight. And now, with the movie fresh in my head, here is my review of this little known movie. THE MOVIE Hmm, the story line is very hard to summerise as alot of things seem to be happening at once, basically it is about a serial killer, but attached to that story are several others including... A religious FBI rouge agent (David Carradine) hell bent on killing deamons where ever he can find them. Carradine's character is a little insane and I feel he plays this well, he doesn't have that air of cool about him though that he does in other movies... Read review
