Taking Adult Ballet Classes

Advantages: Keeps you fit and a gives you great posture

...I started adult ballet classes about 7 years ago as I had a back problem and needed to do something that would strengthen my back muscles. I entered my first class with absolute fear as I am not a performer, in my first classs I learnt about how you use your body without causing it any injury. Then the next class, this time time movement came into it. I had never done ballet as a child so it was completely alien to me. I did not realise that learning to point my feet or hold my arms could be so difficult as it all looked so easy when I watched the Royal Ballet leap across the stage. Why Ballet Is Just Like Ciao

Advantages: Fun to do and good for you, enjoyable to watch
Disadvantages: Kills your feet, and only certain body types can really be successful

...on both sites on and off. The main attraction was the money at first, but now, as with dancing, I’ve stuck with it because I like it more than for the rewards themselves. I’m not that bad at either but I’m also never going to be the best at them. Although this bugged me with ballet occasionally, I got over it and with both, practice makes perfect. Most of you will know roughly what Ballet is about. Perhaps you went to lessons once a week and didn’t get very far but liked prancing around in pink tutus on stage in front of admiring parents. Are you one of those who went to lessons more often, who got hooked, and who spent a good many years looking after painful toes which were the result of pointe work? Maybe you never danced yourself but like it all the same, and go along to the local theatre whenever a new production...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Through the Barricades-Spandau Ballet

Advantages: Addictive, don't get bored of the songs.
Disadvantages: Why did they split up!!

...I bought this album because I am a big fan of Spandau Ballet and especially because it contained the song 'Through the Barricades'. This album was very nice to listen to and has some of Spandau Ballet's later songs. It has nine tracks and most were very good in my opinion. The songs are very original, with a good variety, the most well known is the classic 'Through the Barricades'. You will never get bored of listening to this album and I was reaching for it time and time again. Overall I thought this album was excellent, probably one of Spandau Ballet's best I would recommend this album to anyone who likes Spandau Ballet....

Musclebound-Spandau Ballet

Advantages: Several good tracks.
Disadvantages: Some tracks are 'odd'!

...I bought this album because I wanted to hear the other less well known songs by Spandau Ballet instead of the usual True and Gold. When I began listening, I was pleasantly surprised. This album has 15 tracks in all, and there were several that I especially enjoyed. These were Musclebound, Diamond, Pleasure, Code of Love and Foundation. They are in the classic over the top 80s style and are very catchy songs. The rest of the songs on this album are not so hot, I think the band just put them together to make up the numbers. However, it is still a very good album and I would recommend it to anyone who likes Spandau Ballet and wants to hear some of their 'alternative' songs....

...Going to see a Ballet is something I know which very few people feel they would like to experience. It is i am sure just lack of understanding about what Ballet really is. Ballet today is performed by highly trained dancers who are of the same fitness as any top athlete or sports person. To become a top class dancer you need to train for many years, do many classes daily and do fitness training to enable you to be able to control every muscle in your body. The stamina needed to dance a 2-3 hour ballet is huge. There are many great Ballets which I love but one of my great favourites is a Grand Beautiful Ballet called La Bayadere. ...I first read Ballet Shoes when I was eight. It was the first of Noel Streatfield's books I'd read, and it remains my favourite. I put it away during my teenage years and forgot about it until Christmas 2007 when I watched the BBC adaptation with Emma Watson. I went to Indonesia and got the film on knock-off DVD, and immediately after watching I rang home to get my parents to order me a copy. It was a great welcome home. The book opens with 'Garnie' moving into a huge mansion, filled with fossils. She and her nurse (Nana) are moving in with her uncle. ...Who will enjoy this film? - BALLET FANATICS! Although they will gain most from this film, I think alot of people will enjoy it as it gives a good insight into a young dancer's life. It's a good 'teen film' and worth watching. THE PLOT The plot, to be blunt, is not very good. But it's one of those films which is still watchable because it has other qualities. The film begins with an audition for the prestigious American Ballet school which is part of the American Ballet Company. The main emphasis seemed to be on the experience of a girl (Jodie Sawyer) as she auditions succesfully for one of the 12 places availiable.
