The King of theatre! Lion King at the Lyceum 2007

Advantages: An experience you'll never forget (this will be a long review!)
Disadvantages: I wanted to cry half the time the music was so moving.

...I had my first experience of this musical when I saw a clip of it on a royal variety performance, I was desperate to see it since then. I recieved my tickets to The Lion King musical as a christmas gift this year, my mum and sisters had seen it previously and had decided we would all go together. I know the show has already recieved 27 Chio reviews but i had the most amazing time and cannot get the show out of my head, it deserves all the reviews people can give. I thoroughly enjoyed this show and am passionate about it, i have so much i could say and feel i must warn you this will be a LONG review. Get out while you can, scan through the bits that interest you or just go for it and read the lot! the lion king triliogy

Advantages: great animation, good music, 5 discs
Disadvantages: expensive

...There is a number of disney films that I enjoy watching very much, to test this I watch them all and repeat it. The test shows my film of favourite was the lion king. My review here is not written with a corner off of one film but all 3 lion king films. It is without any trouble that I will thus tell you that the films are of a fantastic dimension. Nevertheless the idea of having lions in a film along with nature; will give you a pleasant change from watching humans. I bought the Lion King on 5 discs and its an installation of a DVD trilogy : 3 movies with 2 special feature discs. Advantages: graphics and sound were good
Disadvantages: nothing major just could be a bit tricky of young kids

...Quick over view of story Simba newly born cub to be king of pride rock one day, his uncle Scar has other plans with the hyenas he manages to kill simba's dad and scares simba into running away. Simba returns to pride rock once he is a grow up lion and takes his place at pride rock by defeated his uncle not has easy in the game thought. :) The game In this game you play as Simba, you start as a cub at pride rock having to climb a few rocks and beat a hyena this is tougher then it sounds you get lizards spitting and the hyena is tricky but not too hard. A London Lion

Advantages: lovely footage of lions
Disadvantages: DVD a bit short

...immediately logged on to Amazon to buy the DVD. The DVD is a documentary which mixes original footage of Christian with interviews with John and Ace and voiceover commentary. The film quality is often fairly poor as the original footage was shot over 30 years ago but the images of London and the fashions of the time make the old footage really watchable. The footage of the lions is lovely, it was really sad to see Christian's parents looking miserable in the zoo and Christian himself in a cage in Harrods. It's hard to believe that a department store sold wild animals and it's lucky that the men who made the spur of the moment decision to buy an exotic animal turned out to be so devoted to him. The documentary is only 45 minutes long so I ended up feeling a bit cheated at paying £8 for such a short film. The extras add a few extra minutes...

Secondhand Lions

Advantages: Great viewing from start to end
Disadvantages: None

...eventually defriend the young Walter and tell of tales of their past which all seem to be made up and what most peple only ever dream about. The outcome of the film is that Walter eventually stays with his uncles and truley believes their stories. The plot is great all through the film and we do have some very funny moments especially when one brother ends up in hospital and then gets into a fight with some young lads! As the title would suggest there is a lion involved and we see Walter befriend a lion cub and looks after him like his pet. A Toothless Lion

Advantages: Some solid performances.
Disadvantages: It doesn't have a point of view and the direction is pedestrian.

In fact most of the noticeable music appears during the storyline about Ernest and Arian. It's as if the other scenes don't carry as much weight for the composer, although there are some warm string motifs when Todd is looking around his tutor's office. Overall it's a score that has a one-track mind. "Lions for Lambs" is a well-balanced, but ultimately hollow commentary on the US presence in the Middle East that doesn't offer any answers to the big questions it poses. Robert Redford's direction is pedestrian and the writing struggles for deeper meaning, hampered by a lack of character development. Never Trust A Rich Stranger - The Last King Of Scotland DVD

Advantages: Great strong story, memorable characters, wonderful performances and a powerful film.
Disadvantages: Plot at times a bit complex and I cannot remember the soundtrack.

...Belonging to a film club I get to see a lot of films. In fact, watching films is one of my favourite pastimes. Recently I watched ?The Last King of Scotland?. It is a 2006 British drama film based on Giles Foden's novel. It tells the fictional tale of Dr Nicholas Garrigan (James McAvoy). He is a young Scottish doctor who visits Uganda and meets with dictator Idi Amin (Forest Whitaker). On meeting Idi Amin he soon becomes his personal physician and this is where the story begins. The film is based around actual events of Amin's dictatorship. The film begins in Scotland 1970 when Nicholas Garrigan graduates from medical school. The young man has no idea of the events that are about to take place in his life. He has no idea how his work will change history or where he will end up.
