...I would love to visit all the capital cities of Europe, so naturally, last October, when I was given the opportunity to go to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, I grabbed it with open hands! I have always loved Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tales, so with Copenhagen once being his home, I was absolutely delighted to be going. The Little Mermaid was one of the first attractions we visited because we really wanted to see it and we were only there for four days. We didn't realise when we first set off but The Little Mermaid was quite a long distance from our hotel. It must have taken a good 45 minutes to walk there. (Granted, we probably weren't walking very fast, but all the same!). We walked along the edge of the river most of the way there expecting to see it every 5 minutes we walked! Advantages: enjoyable music and fun for the whole family
Disadvantages: kids watching over too many times ;)

...the film is about a mermaid who is always getting into trouble with her father. she is a girl called ariel who goes around exploring the sea with her friend flunder. then one day they is a ship which catches fire and a young man eric is drowning but ariel saves his life and brings him back to land she sings to eric and leaves. Eric has fallen in love with Ariel and searches for her but doesnt find her. Ariel wanted to see Eric again so she goes to see the evil sea witch who gives her legs, but the deal is Ariel has to kiss him within three days but the witch takes her voice as payment. Ariel finds Eric and they almost kiss but the sea witch has her sidekicks ruin the chance for Ariel, then a few days later the sea witch turns up as a beautiful lady with Ariels voice she lures Eric in and he arranges to marry her. Advantages: enables you to take your baby swimming
Disadvantages: not sure if they would last a lot longer than 30 minutes

...swimming classes, but then she is a big girl! The first size is small (7-12kg), medium (11-15kg) and large (14kg+).The swim class we go to is for babies from three months up so it must be possible to get nappies for babies of this age from somewhere. The nappy pack we brought has a little mermaid theme, from what I can see on the website you can also get nappies with a tiger or little fish theme I think there is some kind of disney thing going on, but I don?t recognise where the charactes are from. Each nappy is colourful with a pretty picture of little mermaid on it. The nappies can be worn on their own or under swimwear. The nappies are unisex and the back is slightly bigger so its easy to tell which way they go round. The sides are elasticised pink strips that easily stretch to fit when placed on the baby. They are also easy to take...

...Disney returned to the top of its field as the world's supreme Animation Studio with this magically beautiful handling of the classic children's story "The Little Mermaid". All of the elements are there: a timeless story, charismatic main characters, a hideous and ruthless villain (the sea witch Ursula), and a memorable score of at times very touching songs. This Oscar-winning feature film is Disney at its very best......HOWEVER: The quality of the DVD is inferior. There are no 'extras' whatsoever. You get the film and nothing else. There are no trailers, no director's commentaries, no behind-the-scenes peaks, nothing! If you want to show your kids this beautiful Disney movie, get the Video, its picture and sound quality are perfect--the DVD is a disappointment from the technical point of view, as well as lacking the 'gimmicks' we expect...

The Little Mermaid.

Advantages: A beautiful animated coming of age film.
Disadvantages: Not enough screentime for the very main characters.

...I remember watching this film years ago as my family has always been a big fan of Disney cartoons i.e Beauty and the Beast, Basil the Great Mouse Detective etc. After I watched this film I remember being in the bath when I had long hair that I could sit on, and I used to pretend that I was a mermaid. I would submerge myself and see my hair floating around me as I tried to imagine I was Ariel. As a child this film was so far removed from my own childhood that it seemed to be fantastic to me! Living under the sea and singing along (and being a princess as well) seemed to be an ideal world. But the grass is always greener... The film opens with a concert for King Triton ruler of the seas for which the crab Sebastian is conducting. It is supposed to feature the singing talents of all seven of the kings daughters introducing his youngest...

Open Your Eyes To The World Of Walt Disney.

Advantages: Superb quality animation and colour throughout.
Disadvantages: NONE I LOVE IT

...When I was growing up I never had the opportunity to watch Disney films, being the youngest of three my brother always took control of the remote and me and my sister were basically brought up on action films, such as Commando, Warriors and Blood sport to this day I can still remember these films word for word. Then in my late teens I was introduced to a whole new world of films, these being Disney films. I have been hooked ever since and I have to say that I have a collection of over 50 Disney classics that I will never part with. My all time favourite Disney movie has to be the little mermaid, I adore the film and I can't believe that I had missed out on this for years. ...Ariel. My all time favorite Disney Princess. The reason why I love the Little Mermaid so much is that, in comparison to other Disney movies, there are some extremely strong thematic features and moral messages included in the film. These are of course presented in a more subtle manner in order to please the younger audience. This was most certainly a movie that exceeded my expectations, in terms of Disney characteristics. I loved the endearing characters, as well as the very strong message of love that is practically omnipresent all throughout! I believe that this was the last ?handmade? Disney movie, meaning that over a million drawings were created to depict the various scenes in the movie, and if you ask me, this only adds to the endearing charm of the movie as a whole. The story takes place underwater. Ariel is a mermaid...

You don't have to go to sea for this Mermaid.

Advantages: Good well cooked food and a vast choice
Disadvantages: The distance for us to travel, I would like it to be a bit closer to home

...with the days specials for your perusal. It seems a good time to mention in more detail my lovely visit with Jesi so here goes. Jesi and I are what you call old timers on ciao now as we have both been on here for a while now, although we speak in guest books we had never met, well actually she is the one and only ciao member that I have met off line, so to speak. Both Jesi and I shared a common bond with both of us losing a parent during 2008 so we started to chat and when I realised how close we would be it seemed a good idea to meet, so all arranged we had lunch at The Mermaid. Jesi had the Crispy Lemon Chicken, which was described as being British Chicken Fillet, which is fried in crispy lemon and parsley crumb, served with seasoned chips and a side salad.
