...and powerful way. I thought that they portrayed the suffering of an autistic savant person very well and did not make the character out to be stupid or less of a man than he was. I thought that Dustin Hoffman who played Raymond did an amazing job and I am so glad that he won an Oscar for his performance. He managed to make me feel a whole different range of emotions, one minute I was feeling sorry for him as he was unable to take being out of his routine and the next minute I would be laughing at him for some silly story he was telling Charles. He really did the role justice and had me believing that he really was a sufferer. Tom Cruise played the role of Charles and at the beginning of the film I did not warm to his character as he was quite arrogant but after about half an hour I did start to warm to him and I liked how he managed to portray...

Jim Carrey, the man who like to say yes?

Advantages: Quirky, endearing performances. Restrained Carrey
Disadvantages: Random gross-out moments are misplaced.

Man on wire - 1360 feet up over downtown Manhattan

Advantages: A compelling tale told with warmth and humour by those who lived it
Disadvantages: Unnecessary "reconstruction" scenes used over voiceovers

...This is a film only review. We all have regrets in life. As I write this in middle age, I think back to May 2001, when I was on a trip to New York City and staying in a hotel in downtown. The plan had been to go up to the top of the World Trade Center, which was directly across the street from our hotel, but our daughter, who was four at the time and completely non-verbal, started to scream in the queue, scuppering our plans. When you are younger you assume you will have the chance to do these things again, but sadly life sometimes gets in the way, or in the case of the WTC, Osama bin Laden. Shhhhhh, It's the Quiet Man!

Advantages: Good story, some good acting, nice scenery
Disadvantages: Very bad painted backdrops!

...As I have quite enjoyed John Wayne?s film when he has not been plying a cowboy I was quite looking forward to seeing this, yes I cant believe t myself but I was looking forward to it!!!! John Wayne plays the role of Sean Thornton, he was born n Ireland but lived his life in America where he was a boxer. He has decided that he would move back to Ireland to the town where he was born as he has now ended his career after he killed a man in the ring. When he arrives in town he finds things are very different to his way of life in America and after some persuasion he persuades an old lady to sell him an old cottage and land where he was born and his family lived. Man on Fire

Advantages: On screen chemistry, innovative revenge, heart warming
Disadvantages: Predictable

...The best things in life are the simple things. Ok, not always, but Man on Fire is a shining example of how a paper thin and predictable plot can touch the depths of a grown man's heart, and make him wail like a newborn baby. It's a testament to the chemistry between Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning that make this much more than your typical "Revenge movie", littered with cheesy moments. Washington plays Creasy, who, in his own words, is a "Drunk; a has-been" who feels he has nothing worth living for; he attempts to top himself one lonely night. Pita, however, the girl he must protect as the bodyguard, takes to Creasy immediately, and attempts to emotionally unwrap this "Big sad bear". The first half of the film is dedicated to the developing bond between Creasy and Pita, in an attempt to justify the title "Man on Fire...

...For anyone who reads comics you will know that Iron Man is a Marvel creation. I didn't, my comic knowledge goes about as far as Spiderman and Superman so I was unaware that Iron Man was taken from this genre. The Iron Man Movie was released in 2008. It is a superhero film and is in very much the same ilk as Spiderman and Superman, good triumphing over evil, the dastardly baddie, the epic battle (pow, kerpow, take that@!!***< etc). Iron Man's alter ego is Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist who has made his money in the company firm, Stark Industries, selling weapons. He is your stereotypical player, smooth, suave and loves his toys and gadgets. During a business trip to Afghanistan to showcase his latest weapons he is kidnapped and held in captivity. The Running Man

Advantages: great entertaining movie
Disadvantages: none...unless you don't like blood

...show is The Running Man, which is hosted by Damon Killian, (played by Richard Dawson), this show is a simple format, set a criminal (or a 'runner') loose on the derelict streets of old LA and then send several 'Stalkers' to kill them.. much to the pleasure of the watching audience, who enjoy betting on who will survive. Meanwhile, whilst on patrol, a helicopter gunship pilot, Ben Richards, (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger), refuses an order to open fire on unarmed civilians during a food riot and is reprimanded, being framed for mass murder and sent to prison, being called by the media 'the butcher of Bakersfield'. After several month in a high security prison, where they have explosives strapped to their necks to stop them escaping, he and some other manage to escape. Unfortunately, it is not long before Richards is caught...

Enter The Mind Of A Ginuwine Man

Advantages: A few big tunes
Disadvantages: Takes a while for decent material to come through

...After a four-year gap, the Washington, D.C. R&B singer Ginuwine made a comeback in 2009 with ?A Man?s Thoughts? as his sixth album. Although he had been absent on his records for a good eight years, you get Timbaland (the man who introduced the world to the artist as he produced the whole of his 1996 debut) gives him a single track, whilst the rest is covered by typical names such as Oak, Blac Elvis and Bryan-Michael Cox. 1. ?Intro? 2. ?Show Off? With assistance from Oak and RL from the Minnesota-based R&B trio Next, this one has him performing one which has him showing how his matured sound has formed the musci that he coems with here as you get one that begins in a Quiet Storm manner, but then suddenly break out into a lively club tune. Man what a restaurant!

Advantages: Stunning, excellent food, a real experience to dine there
Disadvantages: You need to get dressed up, service a tiny bit slow

...I had the wonderful experience of dining at Man Ray back in June of 2005 while on a short break in Paris. My lovely other half saw the restaurant on TopTable website and booked it as a treat. The only slight downside was as I'd packed light for the weekend, and neither of us had been there before I wasnt as dressed up as I'd have liked to be for somewhere of this calibre. They have also now changed their name to Mandala Ray just in case you want to search for it on a search engine. Location The restaurant is located at 34 rue Marbeuf, which is about half way down the Champ Elysies just after the massive Louis Vitton shop. The nearest tube station is Franklin D Roosevelt.
