Is your Dad brilliant too?
Review of My Dad Is Brilliant! - Nick Butterworth by  piggypine

Advantages: Bold writing is easy to read, nice illustrations, sweet theme.
Disadvantages: Alot of dads aren't around so it wouldn't be an appropriate book.

...I bought this book in honour of my other half this fathers day, he has a bit of a complex over being a good dad and thinks he's failing so this was the perfect little book to give him from the kids. Now I know it's a kids book but it seemed a great way to reassure him that the children think he's great and to get him reading the occasional bed time story to them. "My dad is brilliant" is published by Walker Books and written by Nick Butterworth, famous for such childrens books as "One snowy night" and "Percy the park keeper" It is a 12 page paperback book featuring fabulous illustrations and large bold print, perfect for early readers. It is aimed at 2 years and above for reading ability but is great for bed time stories in general. While the story is pretty basic, a series of statements declaring what Dad is brilliant at "he... I am now a brilliant brunette!
Review of John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Light Reflecting Conditioner by  lynzee84

Advantages: Leaves hair shiny and soft without weighing it down.
Disadvantages: -

...My medium brown hair seemed to be getting duller and duller so I wanted to find a conditioner to brighten it up and add shine without too much build up as my hair tends to get greasy. I heard that John Friedas Brilliant Blonde products were good so I tried the Brilliant Brunette conditioner along with Brilliant Brunette Shine Release shampoo for lighter shades of brown hair. My hair looked shinier and felt softer after the first use and looked great with frequent use. I also found that it didn't weigh my hair down and feel greasy whcih is quite important to me. It also made my hair smell really good. I use this product every day and my hair is in much better condition than it was. The main difference is that is has loads more shine and is much softer. The packaging claims to bring out all different shades of brown in your hair... Read review

Brilliant Brunette!
Review of John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Light Reflecting Conditioner by  bluejules

Advantages: Good products
Disadvantages: Hairspray makes me sneeze

...I received this gift set for Christmas and I am still using it. I haven’t used the shampoo and conditioner much as my hair was highlighted pink at the time when I got this set so I was using a shampoo and conditioner more suited to this. I have tried everything in this set now though so I thought I would share my opinion with you. “Every John Frieda product is more than just a premium haircare brand. It’s an experience. The experience of exciting, glamorous, sexy hair” John Frieda is a professional haircare brand, which is available to buy in shops such as boots. I first discovered John Frieda (Brilliant Brunette) when boots offered a money off voucher on a professional haircare product. I bought some Brilliant Brunette mousse and only had to pay about £1 difference. John Frieda offers a range of professional haircare products... Read review

Brilliant For Babies...But Maybe Not Older kids
Review of Brilliant Baby - Letters DVD by  Angelpybs

Advantages: Big, Colourful Content presented by children
Disadvantages: Overpriced. Fades betweens shots look a bit cheap looking

...I got the Brilliant Baby Letters DVD for my newborn son via a daily mail offer so that I could put it on the TV when I was busy in the house and not feel guilty!! This DVD says they are made for 1-4 years but I think it's content can be used for much younger kids (my son is 3months old) and that older children might find it boring. The DVD basically goes through the alphabet letter by letter. Showing the letter first (both upper and lower case) and then showing everyday objects that begin with that letter. There is pleasant but not great music played throughout. After each quarter of the alphabet has been gone through they recap the letters just shown before moving on to the next quarter. What's good about it...... Well my baby thinks that the babies and small children on it are great and laughes and kicks excitedly... Read review

Brilliant - as the name suggests
Review of Aveda - Brilliant Range by  Keeway

Advantages: A must for textured hair
Disadvantages: Perhaps the price

...The brilliant range of Aveda is mainly for textured hair, I believe. I have wavy hair and I use the shampoo, conditioner and retexturing gel. The 3 products used together produces more curls, rather than just waves. I use it everytime I have a night out, and also the night before I go on holiday, if I do not wish to wash it too quickly into the holiday. The combination keeps the style much longer than other shampoos. As it's name suggests, it's 'brilliant'. Especially for long haul flights, when everybody's hair looks like a nightmare as they get off the plane. The retexturing gel is what it says 'a gel'. Although you know you have a styling product in your hair, it's not sticky, and will brush out, without any residue left, immediately. I find the range a bit expensive, but I only use it in 'special situations', and it is therefore... Read review

Be a Brilliant Brunette!
Review of John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Shampoo by  amyfamestar

Advantages: Make's hair soft & shiny.
Disadvantages: Very pricey.

...My hair used to be dry and lacking of any shine. I would woonder up ailsle after aisle desperate to find a shampoo to enhance my locks. I found it annoying to see that there was some ranges of shampoos especially for Blonde hair (but not one for brown) one of them being 'Beach Blonde' by john Frieda. I had given up hope of ever finding a shampoo for brown hair until one day when in boots I found a range of shampoos and conditioners for brown hair called 'Brilliant Brunette' by John Freida. Because i have very dark brown hair I bought the chocolate to espresso shampoo. I reluctantly parted with a whole £4.95 (!) which I thought was pricey for only 250 ml's. I went back home eager to try this 'wonder product' out! Packaging- The shampoo comes in a large brown tube which has the word 'Brunette' in bold letters on the side of it. I... Read review

Decidedly Un-Brilliant
Review of Brilliant Tooth Whitening System by  zoe_page

Advantages: Cheap and not too dangerous
Disadvantages: Tastes disgusting and can get messy

...This summer on a pre-holiday shopping blitz I picked up products to lighten my hair and darken my skin, and after a lingering glance down the toothpaste aisle, this, the Brilliant Tooth Whitening System, to whiten my teeth. Now my teeth are fairly white anyway thanks to a smoking-, coffee- and red-wine-free life and good oral hygiene but for a few years I've chopped and changed between various whitening toothpastes. My thinking was that since I have to use the stuff anyway I may as well opt for brands that offer a little more than your general breath freshening / plaque fighting duo. I chose this kit as it promised to be a step up from those standard whitening toothpastes, but was the cheapest of the 'proper' whitening systems at a mere £5. The kit I opted for was the small version - one week's supply - rather than the month-long one... Read review

I'm a Brilliant Brunette
Review of John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Satin Shine by  supersexycoolchick1

Advantages: Softens, smoothes, creates definition in layers and helps make hair tones more noticeable
Disadvantages: Doesn't create tones that don't exist, can squeeze too much out if not careful

...big claims from a finishing crème I'm sure you'll agree. Now, even though I mentioned that it probably doesn't matter if you don't use the same range to shampoo and condition your hair, it is always worthwhile pointing out that if your shampoo and conditioner is no good then you really can't expect miracles form this product. Like anything else, it needs a good base to work with, so if you hair is dried out and frazzled, I sincerely doubt that by just using this product to finish you styling off you are going to achieve the results it claims you can. At the moment I have Pantene's colour expressions shampoo and conditioner in my bathroom but as this is a finishing product I really don't think it matters if you don't use it in conjunction with other 'brilliant brunette' products in the range. The tube tells me that it glides easily... Read review

Its not just blondes who can have brilliant hair!
Review of John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Light Reflecting Conditioner by  lollies

Advantages: beautiful smell, fantastic finish, for all brunettes
Disadvantages: cost

...Up until a few months ago I had the most awful hair that you could imagine, it was thin, lifeless and half way down my back not to mention the dark and grungy look it had developed. I decided to be brave and visit the hairdresser, of which I had avoided for a year and half due to a bad cut! So armed with my stylish cut and a new straightening iron I decided to go and find some hair care products after telling the hairdresser he could keep his to himself. It was a nightmare there were so many to choose from but a lot of them had weighted my hair or they left a residue which made it feel greasy so I wanted to run and hide. The new found confidence I had from my new cut meant that I chose a conditioner and there it was, I had heard that the blonde version was brilliant so thought I would try the brunette! As per usual... Read review
