Tate Modern-The World's Largest
Review of Tate Modern (London) by
ashford
Advantages: Biggest gallery of modern art in the world
Disadvantages: Huge
...renaissance of the cultural milieu in this historic city and nowhere is this better emphasized than at the remarkable Tate Modern at Bankside.
The world's largest gallery of modern art, Tate Modern is housed in the old Bankside power station which had actually been in "mothballs" since the 1980's.
It was the creation of Sir Giles Gilbert Scott - who was well known as the designer of Britain's red telephone box - and this new sister to the existing Tate Gallery was designed by Swiss architects Herzog and de Meuron to be accessible from all four sides. They employed a dramatic use of glass and there are fabulous views of the City of London. The place is linked to St. Paul's Cathedral by a new Millennium footbridge, designed by Norman Foster.
Developed at a cost of 134 million pounds the Tate Modern is already being compared to the Musee d...

The 8th album of Modern Talking
Review of Alone - Modern Talking by
DamonaKing
Advantages: Very good music, great success
Disadvantages: mostly suitable for fast dance music lovers
...makes the fever. Simple but clever arranged dance music combined with easy lyrics together with good singing makes a really good recipe for catchy tunes.
That is the trick, nothing more but nothing less. Once you are listening to the always returning similar rhythm in almost every song of Modern Talking, you will always remember their songs. Maybe you know about Italo Dance music? This kind of style is similar to the sound of Modern Talking.
For example I put some parts of the lyric of their first song
"You're my heart" here, so you can get to know the basics:
1. Verse:
Deep in my heart there's a fire, a burning heart.
Deep in my heart there's desire for a start.
I am dying in emotion, it's my world in fantasy.
I'm living in my, living in my dreams.
Chorus Normal:
You're my heart, you're my soul.
I'll keep on shining...

The 7th Album of Modern Talking
Review of Back For Good - Modern Talking by
DamonaKing
Advantages: Interesting upgrades and 4 new songs
Disadvantages: Some like them, some hate them
...and Thomas Anders was the singer of the titles. Together they were one of the greatest Pop Duos world-wide. If you visit below mentioned websites, you will be informed of many details to their lives, their biggest successes and their stories:
1) www.bmg.de - The official German website of the record company
2) www.geocities.com/henrik02 - great English website made by an American fan, very recommendable, very detailed
3) www.thomas-anders.com - Website of the singer in German and English language
In 2003 Modern Talking finally got separated again due to disputes. One of the reasons was the greed for money of Dieter Bohlen. For us fans it is still a great loss that this group no longer exists.
b.b) How is the sound of Modern Talking?
---------------------------------------------------------
The sound of their music is simple...

The Mighty Modern
Review of Tate Modern (London) by
jouk04
Advantages: Free, Fun, Educational
Disadvantages: Special exhibitions cost extra
...as part of the south bank regeneration scheme in that particular area. This so called cathedral of the Industrial age was not allowed to challenge the iconic power of the old world. Now it has been re incarnated again as a cathedral of modern art.
Other regeneration projects in the area include the Oxo tower, Oxo tower wharf, and Gabriel Wharf buildings, these have been converted into contemporary studios for contemporary designer/makers, producing fine and applied arts. When you have finished at the Tate maybe it worth a short walk down the riverbank to see some contemporary artists work and at work, all of the work produced at the Oxo tower and Gabriel wharf site is made and sold on site.
Coming inside the building the starting point for any visit is the information booths situated at the centre of the turbine hall. If your knowledge...

History of modern computing
Review of History of modern computing - Paul E. Ceruzzi by
LEIGHWHARTON
Advantages: See op.
Disadvantages: See op.
...This book is brilliant if you want a excellent and comprehensive book on an introduction to a History of modern computing. I first used this book to complete a project on the world wide web and the Internet and I found it to be very detailed and it also has great pictures to accompany the text that is written in this book.
This book can be used as a textbook, for courses like GCSE or A Level Information technology or computer studies or GNVQ in health and social care. (I personally used it for both, I have also used this book for the HND course that I am presently on). I think this book could also be used for people/ students who want a more detailed introduction into A history of modern computing
Synopsis of this book- A history of modern computing
This book covers everything that you need to know about the history of modern...

Modern is not always great
Review of Tate Modern (London) by
hulahoop
Advantages: It's big
Disadvantages: But is it too big?
...The Tate Modern is impressive in its design and decor, but does the display of art work stand up to its look?
On approaching the building, a massive converted power station, and viewing it from across the river, you can see why such a fuss has been made over its opening. It is magnificent. Its entrance alone, a wide slope leading down to a massive sloping area, is grand and helps evoke the modern style that the curators of the Tate wish to convey. I was quite astounded by the size of the place, with balconies and walkways leading along the storeys, looking over the warehouse sized entrance, which holds two heavy iron sculptures, intended for public participation. Unfortunately when I went the queues to go up into the top of these sculptures, apparently large mirrors dealing with the concept of an individuals identity, was too long...
