National trust annual membership ( amazing)
Review of National Trust Annual Membership by  01zesty01

Advantages: So many wonderful places to visit
Disadvantages: There isnt really anything, maybe if it rains it isnt as good sometimes.

...We currently own a family membership for the national trust. We used to have an english heritage membership but we switched to the national trust when i was about 6 and we are still with it now. So with the membership you get free access to most national trust places. They are listed in the handbook you are given and on the internet. The handbook is great, it shows you exactly what places they are to visit and where they are on the map. It also syas the facilities that each place has and what events that it holds. When the place is open and even when the best time to go visit it is, this is because of theplants that grow at specific times and when they bloom. You get a membership card which you use to gain your free access. My parents have one each. You also get three editions of the national trust magazine a year. They have good... Read review

Painting a portrit of our great nation
Review of National Portrait Gallery (London) by  duskmaiden

Advantages: nicely laid outt good selection of the great and good
Disadvantages: later portraits not as interesting

...What made Britain great? It might have something to do with our former empire or the Industrial Revolution, but what made Britain really great was the cast of larger than life characters from the monarchy to scientists, explorers and writers that make up British ands English History. When in central London recently I thought I would celebrate the people that made Britain glorious by visiting the National Portrait Gallery right in the centre of London. It is celebrating its 150th anniversary so I thought I would visit it in this important year. The National Portrait Gallery is very easy to get to. The nearest tube station is Charring Cross-although Embankment is pretty near as well. It is located just off Trafalgar Square on Saint Martin's Place (diagonally opposite the wonderful looking Saint Martins in the Field). Do not do as I... Read review

A National treasure
Review of National Trust by  gardenguru1

Advantages: Always somewhere new to visit
Disadvantages: None I can think of

...When I inherited a small amount of money from an uncle some years ago I decided that rather than the money ‘disappear’ into our bank account I would ‘invest’ it in something tangible that would bring pleasure to the whole family. After some careful thought I hit on the idea of buying a life membership of the National Trust. My husband and I had for some years bought an annual family membership and had always wanted to upgrade to lifetime membership. This surprise inheritance meant that we could do just that. What is the National Trust? At the end of the 19th century three people got together and decided to set up the Trust. They were worried by the rapid industrialisation and mass developments which were allowed to go ahead unchecked in Victorian Britain. In 1895 the Trust was founded by Miss Octavia Hill, Canon Hardwicke... Read review

Yosemite National Park
Review of Frommer's Yosemite and Sequoia/Kings Canyon National Parks - Frommer's by  Darumbaja

Advantages: ....
Disadvantages: ....

...Hello @ all... Have you ever heart something about the Yosemite National Park? It`s situated in California and has an area of 30,451square- kilometres. History °*°*°*°* At first I will tell you something about the History of the National Park. The Indians settled this country already before Europeans came California. But the Miwok- Indians lived since over 4000 years there. So- Just 1851 the Park was discovered of the whites. Now President Abraham Lincoln make the country over to the state California with the condition to protect the nature. Therefore the Park was pronounced in 1890 to a National Park and so the National Park visit more than 2million people today. Sights °*°*°* Another important fact to mention are the sights. People who think about it find that theYosemite Valley is the most attended and beautiful... Read review

New Zealand's majestic national park
Review of Mt Cook National Park (New Zealand) by  Writing321

Advantages: Pristine scenery, stunningly clear air,
Disadvantages: None really

...New Zealand's highest mountain is a set of three icy peaks, the highest being 3754m above sea level, dominant in the tussocky McKenzie Country in the South Island. Mount Cook is the central point of the Aoraki Mount Cook National Park and it's also prominent in the Southern Alps, grand to view when you drive along the Tekapo to Twizel long straight roads, or alongside the hydro canal which takes water to the Upper Waitaki district network of lakes, canals, rivers and hydro dams. Whether you fly over this natural wonderland in fixed wing or helicopter aircraft, or view it from a tour bus window, your own vehicle or a hired automobile you will never drive the length of the huge valley without stopping in awe and wonder. You leave the main highway near Pukaki Dam, it is clearly signposted and once you drive alongside Lake... Read review

National Portrait Gallery a national treasure
Review of National Portrait Gallery (London) by  Ariel

Advantages: Great pictures, fascinating subjects, sheer scale of colection,
Disadvantages: None really. Perhapse too much to take in in a single visit.

...Tucked round the corner from the National Gallery on Trafalgar Square you might be forgiven for assuming that the National Portrait Gallery is the poor relation. However the tiny looking front entrance hides a surprisingly big space, divided into six main exhibition spaces. Even with the new gallery 'filling the gap' between the back of the NPG and the National Gallery, there's still only space to show a fraction of their collections, and they still find the time and space for visiting exhibitions as well. Founded in 1856 (although it did not find a permanent home for forty years) the gallery's founding aim was not to collect the greatest examples of the art of portraitures, but to collect portraits of the greatest people - that is was ' to be about history, not about art'. Fortunately they seem to have married to two very... Read review

National, yes. Express, no.
Review of National express by  emmorticia

Advantages: wide range of destinations; cheaper than train
Disadvantages: journey times sometimes excessively long

...When you need to get home from university for a weekend and can't get a lift from your parents, or if you're visiting someone on the other side of the country in the holidays, you need a method of transport that's cheap and reliable. After hours of looking through train times and realising that even the shortest journey would cut quite heavily into my student loan, I decided to give National Express a go, hearing that their fares were relatively cheap, and that they travelled to a wide range of destinations. BOOKING: Booking your coach tickets is easy. If you have Internet access, and are willing to submit your credit/debit card details online, then this is probably the easiest option. Tickets booked online are mailed to you free of charge if you book far enough in advance, but if your ticket is for travel soon after the tickets... Read review

Exploring the Nation's Treasures
Review of National Trust Annual Membership by  helencbradshaw

Advantages: Value for money, inspirational for weekend days out.
Disadvantages: Many properties close up during winter months

...I first opted for some kind of annual National Trust Membership years ago when visiting a Scottish property - Culzean Castle. When visiting a National Trust property you are offered the opportunity to sign up to an annual membership, and will get any entry fees refunded for the day. Members of the National Trust for Scotland do qualify for free admittance to the National Trust properties in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and the annual fee is marginally less, and if you join the National Trust for England, Wales and Northern Ireland, you can in fact visit the Scottish properties such as Culzean Castle in Ayrshire that I often visited, along with the sites of those historic battles, Bannockburn and Culloden. However, having let my membership expire a few years ago, a recent trip to a NT property closest to me inspired me... Read review

National Express get you there quicker!
Review of National express by  KELLYLOUJ

Advantages: Reliable, Comfortable, Pleasant Staff, Not Always Full, Relaxing
Disadvantages: Smelly Toilet, long connection times on occassion

...Having previously traveled on trains I found the national express much cheaper, more reliable and more comfortable and with fewer stops. The coach drivers help you with your luggage and also help you if transferring coaches. I am now a coach gal and try to avoid the train wherever possible as the stress of missing your stop and getting on the wrong train is an all too familiar situation with me! It is very rare you see me using public transport as I have invested in a solid reliable form of transport in my Ford Fiesta, but as I have a friend down in Sheffield the driving does not exactly inspire me to visit so each occasion I have used the National Express and on the occasion of my first hiccup I cannot fault the service. ~~~Who are National Express~~~ You must of seen the white coaches going up and down the motorways wit...
